1966 Ford Thunderbird

on my '66 Thunderbird. Because of the vibration while coming to a stop, I took it to a shop. The guy inspected the brakes and everything seemed normal. Then I asked what could cause the vibration. All of a sudden, he tried to put the blame on me, asking why I had me check the brakes, he took that upon himself from the start. I told him I'm mechanically declined, and the only thing I know how to do is change the oil in a car and check the water. He came to the conclusion that it's my rag joints that need to be changed. What do you guys think? On the picture, it shows what's bad. Could that cause the vibration? He did bleed the brake I don't get it. I drove it home and it didn't vibrate anymore. He told me he has a lot going on right now and he didn't want to do the rag joint.

My 88 5.0

Had a 85 v6 in the early 90s and was sad to give it up. Always wanted that car back. In 2023 I got an 88 Sport. Now I spent $$$ fixing it up and hardly drive it.

Viewing a ford thunderbird Diamond Jubelee edition

Hey everyone,

I'm going to view a 1978 Ford Thunderbird (Diamond Jubilee Edition) soon and I'd love some advice on what to look out for before I potentially buy it.

I'm a beginner when it comes to mechanics – I have basic electrical experience and can do simple stuff, but I've never bought a classic car before. So I want to go in prepared.

Specifically I'd love to know:

- What should I physically inspect on the body? Any rust-prone areas I should check carefully?

- What should I look for under the hood – any obvious red flags?

- What should I listen for when the engine is running? Any sounds that are a bad sign?

- What should I feel for during a test drive – steering, brakes, acceleration?

- Are there any specific parts on the '78 Thunderbird that are known to fail that I should specifically check?

- Any other tips for a first-time classic car buyer viewing one of these?

I want to go in with a checklist in my head so I don't miss anything obvious. Any help from people who know these cars is hugely appreciated. Thanks!

My wife and my Bird 40 years ago.

Still got 'em both, but only the car obeys when I say "Don't start." And the car isn't after me to sell the wife.

Where is the hood latch on a 69 T bird??

I know it’s a 429 but I want to see the engine. I CANNOT find the latch. I found one right under the hood on top of the grill, but it seems to be a secondary latch. is there a primary one im missing somewhere?

I have a situation with my 66 Thunderbird. Sometimes when I come to a stop at a stop sign or light, I get a vibration in the front, and even the steering wheel vibrates. My buddy thinks it's time to do the brakes. I'm not sure what you guys think?

Thunderbird car club

I would like to bring this to you guys' attention, a matter concerning my '66 Thunderbird from Sacramento, California. As a member of the local Thunderbird club, I felt excluded because my vehicle is a 1966 model, the majority of the members own 1950s Thunderbirds, and it appeared that an unofficial bias existed. Despite my military background, having completed two tours in Afghanistan, it seemed that my service did not factor into their assessment. I left their Thunderbird car club a couple of years ago because they were not welcoming. And these old timers felt like they were prejudice. Today, I had intended to participate in their event; however, when I arrived, I discovered that the group was going out to dinner without extending an invitation to me. I had adjusted my work schedule to attend the car show event. I will never go to their events again; I get more love and respect at lowrider shows with the Chicanos, and that's where I belong.

1981 Ford Thunderbird

Hello, I'm trying to fix a 1981 Ford Thunderbird, it stopped running shortly after purchasing it, I was told to replace the carburetor, after replacing, it won't run it just cranks, there's a rattling coming from the starter solonied, so I bought a new one and installed it how the original was, but now it won't start or crank anymore, wondering if I did something wrong or need to fix something specific first

Car specifications

1981 Ford Thunderbird

8 Cylinders 4.2L 255CID

12 volt battery

I attached some photos to help give context, I'm not too sure if they're the most helpful.

I'm also working mainly by myself to fix this so I don't really have a clue what I'm doing, I bought a manual and a repair/maintenance book

I'm open to any and all feedback
