2021 Transmission Question - Is it Dead?

My wife’s 2021 transit connect with the 2.0 and the 8F35 just all of the sudden started slam shifting and then not going into gear yesterday.

Around 80k miles it started slipping so I performed a drain and fill on the trans fluid. And again at 83k and again at 90k and just recently at 110k miles. The fluid came out looking terrible almost every time.

It’s got 112k miles on it now.

The computer threw a P0751 code for the solenoid being stuck.

This is our main vehicle for transporting out special needs kid back and forth to the doctor so we really need this vehicle, and like everyone else we are sooooo broke right now.

I know how bad this transmission is and I figure it’s a goner, but has anyone else had this issue or this code? I’d love to hear your story and what you did to fix it.

I’m trying to figure out if it’s even worth fixing at this point…

Thanks in advance!

Stopping the van from lighting up

OK, my 2015 Titanium appears to be impossible to kill the lights that turn on when opening a door via FORScan. So, what would be a more mechanical way stop just one one of the side doors from doing this? I know I could disconnect the battery but that thing is under a cover back almost under the dashboard. Any other thoughts? Is the only thing to mange a door switch?

What are your smartest Transit Connect upgrades?

Hey people,

if the Transit Connect (mine is a 2014 model) is not being used for camping, there’s obviously a lot of space in the back. Of course, you can just put boxes there to store groceries or other stuff that shouldn’t fly around loose while driving.

I was wondering: are there any features, hacks, modifications, or little upgrades that you would recommend because they turned out to be surprisingly useful? Things where you thought: “Damn, that’s actually smart to have,” or that simply made daily life easier or more fun?

A simple example would be hooks on the walls to hang bags or jackets. Or just an armrest for the driver. Not super innovative, but just to show what I mean. 😃

I hope the topic is understandable. Feel free to also share camping hacks for a van like the Connect, that are less common or not so “standard.”

Greetings!

Edit: If you think, this post would fit better in another subreddit, please tell, which. :]

Is this a good deal? There’s a 2020 Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van · XL Van 4D for sale in my area.

It has 189,000 miles on it because it was a business vehicle. It’s listed at $7,900. The carfax shows it was maintained and checked every 5k miles.

Freeze plug failure? (2013)

2013 TC w/2.0L gas

Last year the 'plastic box' that hangs off the side of the block and diverts coolant into the hoses failed and I got to tow my transit home. This year, it looks like the freeze plug above the box has failed. Went from 'this is fine' to 'all the coolant is on the roadway' in about 1/4 mile.

Got it towed home and will tow it to the shop tomorrow. I don't have time to wrench on this myself.

No real question, just wanted to share my pain.

Help! Upgrade for base stereo

Good evening y'all recently acquired a 2020 Transit Connect for business expenses. That said I'm looking to upgrade the base stereo. I do believe it's non sync? Definitely not a touchscreen. Attached a photo for reference.

Does anyone have suggestions regarding specific tested stereo harnesses? I see the main two are crux (crutchfield) and scosche (everywhere else) I know depending on the kit I may need to purchase an additional back up camera adapter. Just looking for the basics. All research I've conducted over 10 hours only referencing sync upgrades or none base stereos.

Definitely experiencing a lot of buyers remorse for other reasons so I'm taking any wins I can. Please, please help me out with directions.

Again this is a none sync, base none touchscreen radio.

Rough Idle

I have a 2016 connect. It has a rough idle and has almost died on me a couple times while coming to a stop in traffic. So far I have replaced, spark plugs, coil packs, cleaned MAF sensor, cleaned throttle body. Also replaced battery with a nice one 4 years ago.

Wondering if it might be a vacuum leak. Has anyone had a vacuum leak on one of these vans? If so where from? Am off for thinking this is a possibility?

Is it possible I need to replace MAF sensor even if the check engine light isn’t on and not getting any codes?

Thanks everyone!

2020 Transit Connect coolant always going very low

Hi
My FORD TRANSIT CONNECT 240 L2 LIMITED 120 coolant needs topping up regularly.
I had to put about 1.5 litres worth in it today to get it back up to maximum.
There's no pools of water under the van, it's not overheating and it's running well.
As you'll hear in the video its got good pressure when I unscrew the cap (I edited the video down as it took forever to unscrew it)
It's only done about 20,000 miles and I'm not doing any massive miles in it really.
Any thoughts please?
Thanks in advance
(Sorry but I don’t seem to be able to post an image as well as video on here)

Used Transit Connect And Alternstives (US)?

Hi! I’m helping my electrician friend look for a used, small work van. She wants a Transit Connect and has a very low budget.

We can do repairs, e.g. transmission replacement, in my shop with free labor, she pays for parts and any outside services. Driving will be urban short distances; 5 miles to jobsite then sit parked all day. We’ll fit rack, shelves, partition.

I don’t know much/anything about these vehicles. I see the last gen 1s (2011) as low as $3000 and usually have 200K+ miles; gen 2s (2012-2020) are all over the place in price, mileage, and condition; later gen 2 and all gen 3 are out of her budget.

Thoughts on how these hold up to high mileage, common expensive problems, parts cost and availability now and future

. . . and alternatives? Feels like there must have been similar vehicles sold in the US.

Thank you!
