Goodbye Forte GT, upgrading to an Elantra N

Recently, I traded my 2023 Steel Grey Forte GT in for a 2026 Elantra N. I loved my forte very much. So much to the point where I drove her 97K miles in 4 years. I will definitely miss her but it was time for an upgrade.

Farewell Forte GT, Hello Elantra Sport.

Traded in my 2020 GT at 152k miles. Was a tough decision but ultimately the Forte was going to cost me too much to keep going. Rather be safe and sound with a 100k mile warranty. Was a pleasure talking with you guys over the years and shooting the shit, but onto new beginnings. 🤙🏻

23 GT Stock - 2 questions

Had the car about 2 years and I for sure have not used it to its full potential. I've never really been a "car guy" but I love the sportiness of the GT. I am lowkey kinda bored and not sure why. Which leads me to my 2 questions.

  1. How often do you throw your GT in sport mode and use the shifters?

  2. Is it time to look for a different kind of car?

I'm not into muscle cars esp super loud, and I am too broke for a lambo. Never got the hype of BMW, I enjoy being the outsider with "ooh whats that on the outside" & luxury premium on the inside. I came from a Traverse premier and a very depreciated Mercedes SUV b4 I got the car. Thoughts / Insight?

Tail light housing delete (clears)

Anyone have firsthand experience with this mod? It looks incredible, but there are obvious concerns like moisture over time that make me reluctant. (Photo cred cyber_n2.0t on insta)

Racechip?

I have been thinking about getting a RaceChip S to get a small power increase, especially at lower revs. I always feel like if I don't really step on the gas the car won't speed up. I don't know much about tuning and wont be adding any bolt-ons since I dont know what can void warranty. The racechip seems like an easy install that would work with the car stock but I dont know if that is completely true. I have a 2023 DCT and would like to know what you guys think or have heard about racechip and the DCT.

Misfire as usual

Yeah, I knew this was gonna happen. I read about it on here. I just don’t wanna believe it lol. But I already bought the spark plugs around a week ago because I’m at 50,000 miles. And it happened driving home stopped at red light got a bunch of miss fires went down to like 500 RPM, car caught it and went back up. Just wanted to see what y’all are saying and look at the spark plugs for me because they do look really full of carbon. When I took out the spark plugs in my 1200,000 mile Ford focus they looked about the same so I’m gonna take it as it was time to change.

Yalls thoughts?

Car Won’t start

My fob will unlock and lock but won’t remote start, fob not detected once inside and I changed the fob battery and still the same issue. Have any of you had this problem before?

Exhaust compatibility on 2022+ sedan vs hatch

Does anyone have measurements of the post facelift sedan? I'm looking for:
The piping parallel to the cat down to the tips on the rear exhaust IE, the whole final length of straight pipe.
The spacing of the straight pipe / width between the tips.

I have the hatch and am looking at buying a secondhand sedan exhaust on the cheap.

I've measured the hatch and it's 105cm between the tips measured center to center.
The tips, measured from the horizontal pipes coming off the cat to the very edge of the stock tips are 37cm. I reckon you could go as far as 42cm out before they start looking like they don't belong.

---

Apparently everything engine down to and including the muffler is the same.

Only the length of the final pipe + horizontal spacing between the tips should be different.
I'm hoping the spacing isn't that different but honestly it probably is or Xforce would just sell us the same part and give us different tips.

IDK if cutting and welding the axleback is worth it to anyone at that stage. Maybe if secondhand price is cheap enough?

CPO Forte GT 2024 MT Price fair?

Greetings!

Been on a hunt for a car lately and came across these.

There is one some distance away with 24k miles, CPO and the best I have been able to get them down is 24800 out the door (they started at 27k which is insane)

The big draw is CPO for sure.

There is also a 2023 close by, but has 10k more miles and me overanalyzing it, it was a lease, seems an oil change Interval was missed according to carfax (12k span between an oil change when every other was clockwork at 6k) and I saw a K&N sticker and a gear shift sticker. Makes me think prior leasee may have been a little rough on it.It'ss also a CPO So I guess it wouldn't be anything to worry about. They are 2k cheaper out the door for it (22900)

All that to say, I am leaning on the newer one, but still feel like the OTD is high. Maybe I wait till they are willing to drop some more.

Just ready to take apart my Fiesta ST, address its oil leak and start modding it lol. Can't until I have another form of transport.

Appreciate the help!

So I just bought a 24 gt from carvana (guess I got a steal) I hadn't realized it had upgrades until I looked under the hood to start assessing what I wanted to modify. (It shows Google cause I was chatting with the ai) but these are what I found, Im trying to connect to the gts chip but I dont see a serial number so I assume the faded one is, any advice?

Aftermarket support is good but you pay for it

Ive been looking at a shitload of mods. Seriously. A shitload.

Engine stuff like an intake, catch can, blow off, catback, exhaust tips, tunes.

Body stuff like body kits, wheels, tyres, suspension, decals, wraps, overlays, tints.

Interior stuff like floormats, carseats, cables, adapters, organisers, brackets, trim bits, seatbelts, sunvisors.

I can say without question if you want something for the Kia Cerato / Forte / K3. You can find it. For your model. Bolt on. It just works. Plenty of people have it. No shame. Get it done. Looks great.

But you will pay for it.

An exhaust tip from the car shop is $120 AUD (CAD is roughly 1:1 with AUD). On Aliexpress the same item is $20.

A bodykit for the car is made by flow in Australia. Be prepared to spend a few grand. On Aliexpress, pieces are as low as $40. Flow want $300. Not the same item sure but sometimes close enough is good enough. Particularly if you can sand, drill some holes, throw some bolts at it or some glue. It's not hard or expensive.

The intake from Takeda everyone loves? $800 average where i live. I found it as cheap as $600. I can get the whoosh noise using a good K&N filter and paint my own aluminium airbox for under $100. Fuck, they want 150 fucking dollars for a 3D printed rectangular tube. FFS this should be on thingiverse for free.

Same goes for brakes. Can get yourself a pro big brake kit. Or search the subreddit for the national brake upgrade. Or swap on the i30N brakes for the visual appeal.

If you have money by all means just go get it done and bolt it in. No shade we're all mates.

But if you're a poor cunt like me. I just want to mention to anyone sweating about the costs that a lot of this car modding stuff is a lot cheaper if you close the usual suspects car mod websites and open up some of the wholesaling sites or a hardware store and youtube...

My personal favourite has been Aliexpress.

2023 kia forte GT limp mode in the rain

I’ve been fighting this issue for a while and I can’t seem to get to the bottom of it so maybe someone here can. For starters I have a 2023 Kia forte GT
Mods are…

Hot pipe
Cold pipe
HKS blow off valve
HKS spark plugs
SXTH Coil packs
Ran a JB4 in the past was taken off before the issue began
SXTH intercooler
Catch can
And cold (warm) air intake
Ran on 93+

So when it rains usually my car lags between shifts and refuses to build boost until about third gear and even then it’s extremely slow.I’ve had times where the car just wouldn’t move at all but I haven’t had that issue in a long time. Occasionally reverse will not work especially when it rains but it’s sometimes solved by turning it off and turning it back on again. There are good days where the car feels amazing and then I will turn it on again and there is a check engine light; no reverse and lagging between shifts again. Sometimes the car is driven hard and will be fine and others it will go into limp mode pretty soon after or just go into limp mode while driving around the city. The common culprit is rain as it does occur every single time it rains but it also does happen occasionally when it’s not. Any ideas ?

Got a used Racing Chip

After scanning everything with the app, the intrusions say it’s for a Hyundai Veloster I 1.6 T-GDI. I have the car on but not turned over. Just corpus if I should keep it and run with it or return it. I get it for $100. I know the engines are the same but would it be safe?
