Tinfoil hat: Nestle is responsible for the rise in gluten intolerance.

Through an unrelated hospital stay a couple of years ago I found out I have a mild gluten allergy. Definitely not full on celiac but mostly skin related issues.

This led me to realize the dandruff I had had since highschool was actually a gluten allergy. Still crazy to me that it goes away after a few weeks break from any gluten

Around highschool I started eating hot pockets regularly after school, this is also around when the dandruff started but with puberty, who knows what's what.

Well now my adopted daughter is 22 and, until recently, regularly ate hot pockets. Meanwhile her health has become terrible, with low energy, and a multitude of other minor health issues all simultaneously occurring, we of course start looking at diet as a cause. And sure enough we see improvement as we test gluten free.

It's also dawned on me that Nestle somewhat recently stopped shipping hot pockets with the little metal sleeve. Their reported reasoning was their sustainability initiatives COUGHBULLSHITCOUGH.

So my conspiracy theory is that Nestle is partly responsible for the rise in gluten sensitivity, perhaps related to their metal hot pocket sleeves. They know this, which is why they reformulated their dough, despite this being an otherwise completely irresponsible use of R&D funds. Don't fix what isn't broken and all that.

For the record, I am not at all suicidal. I do not plan on getting in any airplanes climbing any tall buildings. I am very happy with my life etc.

Also for the record, fuck Nestle.

need advice

hi everyone, I'll just get to the point.

I'm 18 and in college, in one of the most expensive cities in the world. I still live with my guardian and they pay for my food/most products I own.

I knew that nestle was "bad" when I was a kid, but now I understand the severity of it.

I want any and all advice on how to not spend money on them, to the best of my abilities.

majority of my spending includes drug store makeup, snacks, drinks (non-alcoholic), and also pet supplies, hygiene supplies (like face/body washes, sun protection, deodorants, shampoo etc...)

apps, articles, websites, personal advice, literally anything, I would appreciate it very much!

(also I want to make it clear that I'm not getting rid of things I have already bought, I personally believe that the damage has already been done)

please be kind, I'm new to this

thank you :)

If you're morally obligated to not buy from Nestle, then are you also obligated to not buy electronics?

I'm really hoping this is not coming off as a bad faith "gotcha!" question, because it's genuinely not. It's just dawned on me that companies use child labor or slave labor to source parts for their electronics, and apparently almost all electronics these days are sourced from those practices.

I'm trying, but I'm having a hard time justifying it. How do you justify one but not the other?

Starbucks at home

A bit of preamble. I (67M) have been participating in the Nestle boycott my whole life, with parents joining the boycott early on. Not perfectly, as a child would gladly eat a Nestle's Crunch or Butterfinger if it was part of my haul during Halloween. As the company's reach extended over the years had to make changes when finding out I was buying a subsidiary brand. Fast-forward to today, recently found out that Starbucks at home is licensed to Nestle. Now I am not a huge fan of Starbucks either, but I really like their dark roast coffees for home consumption and the cost at my club store is reasonable. Now that I have found out about the affiliation to Nestle, I will be looking for another coffee. The question I want to pose is should I/we boycott Starbucks for this licensing?

Please also boycott BEAR BRAND, especially SEA people here.

To those Filipinos, Indonesian, Cambodians, Burmese, and Thais that are still patronizing this shameless product, please boycott as they are owned by Nestlé.

Look at what they put in kitkats, vanilla extract

Here is why vanilla extract is bad High alcohol content — pure vanilla extract contains alcohol and can be harmful if consumed in large amounts directly.
Sugar-related problems — vanilla flavor is often used in sugary foods linked to obesity, tooth decay, and type 2 diabetes.
Artificial chemicals — some imitation vanilla products use synthetic flavorings that some people may be sensitive to.
Allergic reactions — rare, but possible.
Processed food risks — many vanilla-flavored foods are ultra-processed and associated with poorer long-term health when eaten frequently.

Is Ritter Sport ethical?

I recently visited the Ritter Sport Factory in Baden-Württemberg and I couldn't help but wonder if their chocolate and cocoa haversting/purchasing is ethical and doesn't use slavery/child labor and stuff like Nestle's is.

I really like their chocolate and It seems like Its ethical judging by price and what I saw at the factory but It could very well be all lies and I want proof that It isnt a company like Nestle.

Thanks to anyone who helps and fuck Nestle.

Here are some nice illustrations showcasing the Nestle boycott list. FUCK THEM

Source

Everything Owned by Nestlé

Also, here's a website with an easy search for Nestlè brands

Nestlé Brand Finder

-

Personally I have completely stopped using Nespresso and went back to making moka coffee.

The added friction needed to make it made me drink less coffee overall, so I generally feel less stressed.
