Sony just got rid of most physical media on Crunchyroll's store.

A few years ago, Crunchyroll (bought out by Sony a year or so prior) bought out the absolute best online manga and anime retailer in the US, Rightstuf, with the promise of maintaining that company's pro-consumer model. The sales, the packaging quality, the item selection, etc.

Very quickly the packaging became horrible, and people were very upset. They also never did kept their promises of maintaining rightstuf's model for their seasonal sales. Then they removed access to the store for non Crunchyroll members.

Today, they have removed all manga and most blu-rays. They're slowly trying to force people into a world where consumers own nothing in the most anti-consumer way possible.

I know there are many people that try to hope for an all digital market allowing for good pricing, but history shows that the opposite is true. I've seen many people holding out hope or claiming people are doomers. All things many said about the rightstuf buyout. And here we are. Just felt like I'd provide further reason for caution.

I just tried the… let’s say, “unofficial” version.

And I’m absolutely furious. The game runs at 100% across the board for me: max settings, 100% scaling, not a single frame dropped, everything loads quickly, and there are zero frame drops. And my PC is actually below the recommended requirements and only meets the minimum requirements. This is absolutely insane.

And the CPU is only at 20%–30% usage.

The official Steam version runs barely “acceptably” on low settings.. This is so unfair.

I will not empathize with Sony on the backlash recieved

‪After Sonys’ recent news, people are right to scrutinize. This will continue with future playstation projects. Playstation is a big boy and can make their own decisions, but needs to live with the consequences, not play victim ‬

You wanna spend 5 billion on bungie with 0 return, but can’t afford 25 cent blu rays for your hardcore fans?

go fuck yaself

Sonyboys are trying to desperately to defend god of war Laufey

Before your criticize me I want to start off by saying there is nothing wrong with playing as a female video game character but my issue is when you replace your main character with a completely different person. We can all see that they are purposely trying to shove the male main character to the side in order to replace him with a female character in the upcoming game "God of war laufey". If Laura Croft from tomb raider was replaced by some male character there would be riots in the streets but somehow these sony boys are turning a blind eye to the total emasculation of the male protagonist of one of sonys most prominent franchises. If they wanted more women in video games then why not just create a new franchise with a female protagonist? Or atleast title the game so that it makes people know it's a spin off game from the main series.

Nikkei: Sony wants to create new character IP to rival the likes of Nintendo, Sega and Sanrio

According to Nikkei, one of Japan’s biggest business newspapers, Sony Group is launching an initiative to develop distinctive character IP that can be used across games, anime, movies, merchandise and other forms of entertainment.

Sony Creative Products (SCP) has established a dedicated team for the initiative, with Sony reportedly targeting ¥10 billion in sales from new IP by FY2030.

Nikkei highlights Sony’s lack of globally recognisable original characters compared with companies such as Nintendo and Sega, as well as Sanrio’s success with characters like Hello Kitty.

Sony reportedly sees its lack of newer game-originated characters as an issue, with franchises such as Ape Escape and PaRappa among the examples, while neither has received a new entry in more than a decade.
