Elijah’s story

My name is Elijah, and I am creating this fundraiser for myself as I prepare to attend Old Dominion University. I went from experiencing homelessness to being accepted into college, and that journey has taught me resilience, determination, and hope. As a first-generation high school graduate and first-generation college student, reaching this point is a major accomplishment for me and for my family. I worked hard through difficult circumstances to create a better future for myself, and I am proud to have earned this opportunity to attend ODU.

I am seeking support to help cover a meal plan, a laptop, school supplies, and other necessities I need to succeed in college. Having these essentials would allow me to focus on my education, stay on track toward my degree, and continue building a brighter future from the hardships I have overcome. I’m asking my community to support me as I take this important next step. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean so much to me. Your support would be more than financial help. It would remind me that I’m not alone and that people believe in my future. Thank you for believing in me, sharing my story, and helping me begin this new chapter.

Standing With Chris’ Family in Their Fight Against Cancer

Hi everyone,

I’m genuinely reaching out to ask for some advice and ideas.

My brother-in-law was diagnosed with multiple myeloma after experiencing back pain for only about three months. It has been a huge shock for him and our entire family, and we are now trying to support him and his family through what is going to be a very difficult journey.
I started a fundraiser to help with the financial burden and give the family some breathing room while they focus on his treatment and recovery.
I’ve already shared it with friends and our church community, but I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with fundraising on Reddit or other online communities.

https://gofund.me/5cebcd599

Where have you found the most impact when sharing a fundraiser like this? Are there particular subreddits, communities, organizations, or other platforms that are appropriate for sharing a cancer fundraiser?
Even if you can’t donate, advice, sharing, or simply pointing me in the right direction would mean so much to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any advice you can offer. ❤️

https://www.gofundme.com/u/family-martinez
❤️ Gracias a todos los que puedan aportar, compartir o simplemente tomarse un momento para leer su historia.
Cuando una familia está pasando por un momento así, tener una comunidad detrás puede significarlo todo.

Need help with 6,000 emergency housing — anything helps - DONATION go fund me

Hi everyone. I honestly never thought I’d be making a post like this, but I’m in a pretty serious situation and I’m trying to get myself and my two dogs into a safe place to live.
I’ve had an incredibly difficult year after experiencing domestic violence, and it’s left me dealing with health, financial, and housing problems all at once. I need to leave my current housing by September 1, and my dogs are coming home that same day. I’m trying really hard to have a safe place ready for us when they get here.
I’m trying to raise $6,000 for the upfront costs of moving into a new home—deposit, first month’s rent, moving costs, and everything else that comes with starting over.
I know that’s a huge amount to ask, and honestly, even $5 or $10 would help me right now. I made a GoFundMe if anyone is willing to help:

https://gofund.me/f42b8528f

I’m also happy to answer reasonable questions about my situation. I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this. ❤️

Help Us Find Our Feet After Losing Our Mom

Hi, I started this fundraiser, Help Us Find Our Feet After Losing Our Mom, on GoFundMe and it would mean a lot to me if you’d be able to share or donate to it. On 29 July, 2026, we lost our mom to a short illness while she was away on business. She was the main breadwinner of our family. My Dad works too, however, his income barely covers our monthly groceries and I don't think his age will allow him to work much longer.

There are now 5 people in my family, down from 6. I am the only male and have 3 younger siblings. 2 have completed high school but haven't gone to university. The youngest is in her second year of high school and will be completing in about 2-3 years. Whenever mom travelled for business, she usually carried cash because she found it more convenient especially in remote places where network wasn't reliable. Likewise, when she left for business, she carried her savings in cash. The following day she was found unconscious. Dad was informed by the person who apparently found mom about the situation. He cancelled work the same morning to go visit mom, but was told she passed before he got on the bus. Among the things, mom had on her when she was taken to the hospital, only her phone was found. The money she carried with her, however, was gone.

The funeral took longer than usual because we needed to raise funds to have mom transported back to my city. So that among other things that came with the extended duration, greatly increased the costs.

We really need your help. These funds will mostly be used to recover from the funeral expenses and to ensure that my youngest sibling, at least, completes high school, while we gather our strength and take up the role of breadwinners and hopefully, in time retire Dad. I will also invest some of the funds in a business to support my family. For allowing me to post this here, and for your assistance, thank you in advance. https://gofund.me/6dc9d96e0

HELP ME CELEBRATE MY MOM'S LIFE

Hi everyone!

I want you to meet my mother. Her name is Patricia Choinsky, and she was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman. She went to be with the Lord February 10th of this year, and due to weather, we couldn't hold a funeral for her. Now, we have an opportunity to celebrate her life, and we need your help. We have expenses pertaining to the place we're holding it at, as well as needing food, and any amount that you can give would greatly help.

My mother was a person who believed in putting Christ first, and helping others, and I pray that that same generous, compassionate spirit will be found in all of you.

Homeless father of two trying to rebuild after losing my car and only source of income

Hi everyone. My name is Andre. I’m 35, from Philadelphia, and I’m a father of two sons. Writing this is uncomfortable for me because I’m used to trying to figure things out on my own, but right now I genuinely need some help.

Two weeks ago, I was homeless and sleeping in my car. It wasn’t just the place I slept — it was also how I made money. I was using it to do Uber Eats and Grubhub while I applied for jobs and worked toward getting back into steady employment.

Then someone hit my car and pushed me into the back of a SEPTA bus.

Thankfully, I’m physically okay. But losing the car changed my situation immediately. In one accident, I lost both the place I had been sleeping and the only way I was bringing in money.

Right now I have no income and I’ve been staying in shelters.

I’m still trying to keep moving.

I borrow my niece’s bicycle to get to job interviews, physicals, appointments, and anywhere else I need to go. It isn’t ideal, but if I have somewhere I need to be, I’m doing what I can to get there.

I also want people to understand that I do have skills and a work background. I’ve worked as an automotive technician, went through automotive trade-school training, and have hands-on experience with vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and repairs. I’ve also been pursuing mechanic opportunities and working toward getting my CDL because I’m trying to build a career that can give me steady income instead of continuing to live day to day.

I have two sons, and probably the hardest part of where my life is right now is not being in the position I want to be in as their father. I’m not able to regularly be with or talk to them right now. I want to get back to a point where I have stable housing, steady income, and the ability to actually support them and be consistently present in their lives.

I’m not saying any of this to blame anybody else for where I am.

I know my life is my responsibility.

I’m applying for work. I’m showing up for interviews. I’m working toward my CDL. I’m pursuing opportunities in the mechanical field. And right now, when I have to ride a bicycle across the city to get to something that could move my life forward, that’s what I’m doing.

What I’m asking for is a bridge.

The money raised would help me with food, transportation, keeping my phone on so employers can reach me, job and CDL-related expenses, basic necessities, and eventually getting into stable housing. It would also give me a little breathing room while I work toward getting my first steady paycheck again.

I don’t expect strangers on the internet to solve my life for me. I’m trying to do that myself.

But right now I could use some help getting from where I am to where I’m working hard to go.

If you’re able to donate anything, I truly appreciate it. If you can’t donate, even sharing the fundraiser could help it reach somebody who can.

Trying to find help covering my Dad’s cremation cost. - Oklahoma, USA

I am looking for help covering the remaining cost of my Dad’s cremation and later service.

He just recently lost his battle with a multitude of medical illnesses that end with him spending the last month after his 71st birthday in a hospital and then on hospice.

I am one of his four children, and only two of us have jobs so it is up to us and what we can make happen. We are looking at almost a $3000 total cost. The other photo was him at his 71st birthday party, exactly one month before his passing.

Homeless, Living in My Car, and Now Stranded After Major Engine Failure.

I never thought I’d be making a post like this, but I’ve run out of options.

I’ve been living out of my 2011 Honda CR-V since October while trying to get back on my feet. I had recently started doing delivery work, and for the first time in a while, it felt like I was making progress. Then my car broke down on I-95, and everything came to a stop.

To make matters worse, my wallet was stolen, so I’ve also been trying to replace my driver’s license and other important documents while dealing with all of this.
I reached out to 211 and other local resources for help, but without a working vehicle, I haven’t been able to access many of the services they referred me to.
After weeks of overheating problems, the car was inspected. The compression test showed only 60 PSI in cylinder 2, and coolant was getting into the cylinder, plus misfiring in multiple cylinders. I was told the engine has a blown head gasket with major internal damage and needs to be repaired or replaced. The car won’t even start anymore.

Right now I’m stranded in Milford, Connecticut. My car isn’t just transportation, it’s also where I’ve been living and the only way I had to earn an income. Losing it has affected every part of my life at once.

I started a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of getting the car back on the road, along with related expenses while I work through this situation. My goal is simple: get mobile again, get back to work, and start supporting myself instead of relying on the kindness of others.
I’ve included photos of the diagnostic codes, the vehicle, and what I’m dealing with because I want to be completely transparent. I know there are a lot of people asking for help online, and I want people to be able to see that this is a real situation.

GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/fc3d9b58a

If you’re able to donate, thank you. If not, sharing my fundraiser would mean just as much.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
