What US fans can do next era
I put together an opinionated priority list of things we, as fans, can do to help GIRLSET’s album chart. Lexi mentioned she always wanted to feature on the Hot 100, so we have to do better. This list is mainly geared toward the US fanbase, as the title suggests, but fans from anywhere can still participate and make an impact. Please share your thoughts and any other suggestions you have.
Pre-saving the next song/album
Fans pre-save an upcoming release on streaming platforms before it comes out.
When the song/album is released, it is automatically added to their library, helping generate a strong first day of streaming activity.
CD’s or other merchandise
Purchasing physical CDs during the promotional period contributes to official sales if they meet chart eligibility requirements.
Strong sales numbers demonstrate dedicated fan support and can help boost chart performance.

Buying the song on iTunes and/or similar downloads(optional but significant)
If US fans have iTunes, downloading the song isn’t as necessary for listeners but it’s an option. One download = 150-300 streams. It’s pretty significant, especially for artists with dedicated fanbases.
Streaming the songs on your own time
Fans listen naturally throughout their day through streaming platforms(preferably through Spotify or Apple Music)
Consistent streaming over time helps maintain the song’s momentum.
Ads (not necessarily required but an option for fans with the means to do so)
Fans can use their own funds for billboards, digital ads, or other promotional campaigns across the country, unless Jype locks in with a multitude of ads.
Widespread advertising increases public awareness and helps attract potential new listeners.
Organizing streaming events
Hosting streaming parties gives the fandom something fun to participate in together while contributing to numbers.
Radio requests
Fans request the song through top and/or local radio stations by calling, texting, or using online request forms.
Increased listener demand can encourage stations to play the song more often, exposing it to a wider audience.
Flyers(optional)
Creative, attention-grabbing flyers featuring a QR code can spark curiosity.
Scanning the code can take people directly to the song, music video, or pre-save page, making it easy for newcomers to check out the artist.
When VCHA became Girlset, did your bias change?
My bias used to be KG, but now it's Kendall. But I'm even wondering about people whose bias changed from one Girlset member to another because of the concept change and rebrand.

Next song
If the next song happens to be another R&B track, I hope it’s a more authentic representation of the genre. Tweak felt more like a K-pop song inspired by R&B than an actual R&B record, and I don’t think it fully captured what makes the genre so special.
I would also love to see them work with more Black artists, songwriters, and producers. R&B was created by Black Americans. Collaborating with the community that built the genre can bring the type of music that’s difficult to replicate otherwise.
I do appreciate that GIRLSET paid tribute to SWV, that showed respect for the group. My disappointment isn’t with that. Beyond the sample, the music itself didn’t really feel inspired by SWV or the style of R&B their song Weak is known for. I can’t help but think about what the song could have been if it had leaned further into those roots.
