Hello, I'm new here and interested in getting a GR yaris but I've got a few questions and found this subreddit and thought to drop them.
What is the difference between the GR yaris and GR yaris RS? I assume the rs is like the standard yaris with the body of the GR. Correct me if I'm wrong of course.
Which one would be better though?
And in the future, or at least once I buy the car, I would love to install HKS exhaust on it so which ones are compatible with each car?
I'm quite new to all this and google has all kinds of different answers which leaves me unsure with my decisions.
Hi everyone. I’ve recently joined the sub as I’m consdering buying a new GR Yaris mk2. Found an automatic in stock at a local dealer (comes by default with circuit and comfort pack) and I’ll go tomorrow to test drive it.
I currently have a GR86 which I’ll trade in.
The reason for an automatic is that it’ll be a daily and traffic + speed cameras eveywhere just spells disaster with a manual.
The 86 sadly doesn’t have usable back seats, which in the next 1-2 years will be a necessity as a baby might come.
I’m going to test drive the car tomorrow and if wife’s (1.65cm) happy / sitting ok behind me, we’ll probably get it.
Before pulling the trigger, I thought I’d ask some things here:
- How’s the automatic, if anyone has it, for a daily and spirited driving?
- I’d plan to keep the car for 5+ years. Would it pose an issue from maintenance/reliability perspective?
- Is anyone using the car with a rear-facing child seat?
- I’m considering getting an aftermarket roof box / bars for the car. I saw some discussions on the gr-zoo forum with options, but I wanted to ask here as well if anyone has experience with mounting a box / bars on the car. Would there be any issues legally (in general, as I understand this could be country specific)?
My car still has the original tires on it, with over half the tread left (only done 18,000 miles and no track driving).
These are now over 5 years old (early 2021 manufacture date), at what point do tires just need replacing due to age?
Does anyone know why this pattern appears under certain types of lighting? It appears on both windows.
Thanks in advance
Hi guys,
I’m having trouble finding tuning workshops that would be able to help with GR mods while keeping the car fully road legal.
Looking for suspension mods, brake cooling and modest engine mods (if any).
I can find plenty of places in Germany and Italy - but the Swiss certification becomes a major obstacle.
The only thing I found is Novidiem - but somehow not convinced as their marketing presence says little about real life experience.
Preferably German speaking part
Gen2 Automatic
Cheers
Hey everyone! I wanted to ask if anyone else has ever experienced this. Been happening now and then, I’m in 4th gear and put my foot flat then it hangs around 4500rpm and then keeps going. As it does this my speed does still increase. I do have an aftermarket intake so I’m not sure if it’s a boost leak but I did disconnect and reconnect everything and the only other thing I noticed is my one spark plug housing is a bit wobbly compared to the other two, so maybe I some tiny leak coming from there. Or maybe it’s just a normal Yaris thing in the cold weather, but it seems new to me! Thanks in advance!
Caught the KUHL Racing display at D1GP Aichi Sky Expo this weekend. Two wildly different GR Yaris builds – a red KRUISE aero kit build and a matte olive widebody with a massive GT wing. Japan's tuning scene never disappoints 🔥
Had an amazing road trip down in central France for a week with my girlfriend. Incredible mountain roads, beautiful views, and bugs, lots of bugs.
Basically title. I am from Germany. If you are by any chance too facing strict regualtions.. Which wing are you riding?
Hi everyone,
I’ve wanted to buy a GR Yaris for a long time, and I finally managed to place an order. I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Now that the excitement has settled a bit, a new concern has come up. I live in Stockholm, and I’m worried about how the winters and road salt might affect the car long term. I’m originally from Southern Europe, so I’ve never really had to deal with harsh winters or salted roads before.
From what I’ve researched so far, getting some kind of underbody protective coating and washing the car regularly during winter seem to be the most important things to prevent rust and corrosion. Is that generally enough, or are there other things I should be doing? I want the car to last as long as possible.
I’m also wondering about storage. I don’t have an indoor garage, only a long outdoor covered parking space/carport. The car will be protected from snow fall. Is this enough or should I add some protection?
Also, I will not use the car every day, mostly on the weekends.
I understand this is a general car question but maybe there are specific concerns about the GRY.
Thanks in advance!
