Best cases with a ring stand

I've just bought an S24 ultra, setting it up next weekend when I'm not in work.

I'll be using a case bc I'll be shit scared of breaking this, the case on my current phone is like a hard rigid plastic with a metal ring stand on the back. I've read that metal on/in cases can mess with wireless charging, just wondering if anyone knows of any good cases with a ring stand for the s24 I can get here in the UK.

Thank you all :)

Switch from S24U to iPhone 17 pro max?

Currently have the S24U 512gb. I can get the iPhone 17 pro max 256gb new for £700.

Is there a good camera improvement between the two (pictures/video).

Is this worth the upgrade?

Thanks.

Freezing skipping performance

S24 ultra with the latest update. I noticed when browsing Google play/updating apps or even playing games. Horrible lag occurs. I don't know why. Was fine before the 8.5 update.

Hearing Test Equalizer Bugs

Have UI One 8.5 on my phone. Just went to check my hearing test equalizer settings and they're not there. Additionally, the hearing test keeps cutting me off claiming there's too much noise in the room. I disagree, appears like what's normally here. I Googled the problem and was told to clean my ears (Actually it said to check all microphone ports). I find no contamination on the phone. I also tried to shut off all mics but, I struck out at that because I couldn't keep up with the Google instructions. So, anyone else with this problem?

S24 ultra camera feels shit all of a sudden

S24 ultra user here. I used to go head on with iPhone users defending the camera quality. I don't take a lot of pictures, and go crazy when on my annual vacations. Looking at me last years pictures vs last week, there is a huge degradation in picture quality.

All 2x, 5x and higher zooms have poor exposure and contrast. Plus the pixel a-t-on is super obvious. The edges are not sharp or i must say clean. It looks like the sharpness is artificial cranked up. And for wide lense the colors are desarurated. Samsung used to have a bit saturated look. But this is not natural looking, it's desaturated, almost log like.

And don't even get me started on low light situations. It's plain unusable.

Overall I feels like camera from a 2010s rather 2024.

Is it just me? Or other have same experience too?

After the latest security update

The symbols appear oversized and bloated when you pull down the quick menu. Is anyone else seeing this?

Should I replace my Samsung s24 ultra with the base (global) x300

Hi,

I currently have a Samsung s24 ultra and am considering replacing it with a base x300. I am looking for something more compact, but would welcome peoples thoughts on if this change would be much of an upgrade. Camera and battery is important to me (as is a compact size). The only reason I am thinking of changing is due to the size of the s24 ultra (which is a bit too big). Aside from the size I am happy with the s24u.

Is the phone reliable and likely to last a good 4/5 years. That is how long I generally keep phones for. Also want something reliable and not buggy. I am in the UK so looking at the global version, to get the bigger battery.

Has anyone made the switch that could share their views and opinions.

Many Thanks for any comments and advice.

Advice on S24 Ultra vs S25 Ultra

I want to get my first Samsung ultra flagship phone, but I am confused as to which one to buy. I am getting the S24 Ultra Preowned at 594 USD, while the new S25 Ultra costs around 890 USD. Both of them are 256 GB Variants. I like the premium feel of the S24 Ultra but am also thinking about long-term support and the newer processor in the S25 Ultra.

I would genuinely appreciate if you guys could give some insight on it before I make any purchase decision.

Camara error after update One UI 8.5

https://preview.redd.it/0ye0xdnfdlah1.png?width=945&format=png&auto=webp&s=77de22b249d06509356222369ec34e39f0028abb

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to determine whether this is a hardware failure or a One UI 8.5 software issue.

Device

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (SM-S928B)
  • One UI 8.5
  • Android 16
  • Firmware: S928BXXS6DZF2

The problem

Immediately after installing today's OTA update, the rear camera stopped working.

  • The front camera works perfectly.
  • The stock Samsung Camera app shows "Camera error".
  • Open Camera also fails when switching to the rear camera with "Unable to start camera preview".
  • The rear camera never shows a live preview.

What I've already tried

  • Cleared Camera app cache and data.
  • Installed Open Camera (same issue).
  • Rebooted several times.
  • Samsung Members diagnostics reports camera problems.
  • Downloaded the official firmware and even attempted to reinstall it with Odin (couldn't complete because the phone wouldn't properly enter Download Mode).

Interesting finding

Using Samsung's hardware test menu (*#0*#):

  • Front Cam works.
  • Mega Cam works.
  • Autofocus works.
  • Flash works.
  • Zoom works.

However, one specific hardware test fails:

REAR4 HDR AUTO FLASH ON

with the message:

>

So the camera hardware seems to respond in several tests, but every normal camera application fails to initialize the rear camera.

I haven't performed a factory reset yet because I'd like to know if anyone has experienced exactly the same issue after One UI 8.5.

Has anyone seen this before?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I built an AI chat app that runs models entirely on your phone — no server needed, no data leaves your device

For the privacy-conscious self-hosters here — I wanted to share Fluent AI: Offline & Cloud LLM, an AI chat app I've been building that can run completely offline on your device.

The self-hosted angle:

  • Truly local inference — download an AI model once (Gemma, Llama, Qwen, DeepSeek, etc.) and chat completely offline. Zero network calls. Your conversations exist only on your device. Decent inference token speeds on edge devices.
  • Connect to your own Ollama instance — if you're already running Ollama on your home server, FluentAI is a full-featured mobile/desktop client with NDJSON streaming, multi-profile support, and AES-encrypted auth
  • OpenAI-compatible servers — works with LM Studio, vLLM, LocalAI, or anything serving /v1/chat/completions
  • OpenClaw gateway — connect to your self-hosted OpenClaw instance for managed API routing
  • Knowledge bases stay local — import PDFs and documents, search them with on-device semantic embeddings (EmbeddingGemma 300M). No cloud processing
  • AES-encrypted storage — API keys and auth tokens are encrypted, not stored in plain text preferences

What runs on-device:

  • Inference: GGUF (llama.cpp), LiteRT (Android GPU/NPU)
  • Embeddings: EmbeddingGemma 300M for RAG semantic search
  • Code execution: run Python, JS, Bash, etc. locally on desktop
  • All chat history and settings

Available on Android and soon to be released on iOS, macOS, Windows, Linux, and Web. Free core, optional one-time upgrade removes ads.

RegiStar missing Buds Manager after enabling Menu order & group settings

Once you enable Menu order & group settings in RegiStar and move at least one item to another place, your Buds manager disappears, you lose access to your Buds...

This started happening with One UI 8.5, I already reported it on Samsung Members, weeks have passed, no update. I need your help reporting this issue, Samsung needs to update the Registar module to be compatible with One UI 8.5.

Thanks
