(58) Down 31 lbs since January, 8-10 hours in the gym a week. Strictly 2000 calories a day, 130 to 180 grams of protein daily, no alcohol

Super proud of my back growth! (1 year)

Been working super hard on my back this past year because I want that Dorito shape. Was looking back at some old pictures and noticed the changes. The first pic is just as I started my bulk and the second is about a month and a half into my cut. I'm super happy with it!

(32) First time posting - Year of difference

Hi! Figured I’d share my journey here for those who like backstories. 32 with a now consistent weight near 130 lbs and trending up slowly (struggled with low BMI most of my life).

First photo is May of 2025 when I just (barely) started running with no decent side training (never exercised up until that point). Second is July of this year (just after a run, sorry for the sweat ha).

After a few injuries the previous summer getting into running, I became more consistent with 5ks through winter and early spring. While my cardio was in great shape by then, I found out I had weirdly elevated blood sugar issues at the starting threshold of prediabetes. Unfortunately, it’s likely a genetic influence.

After a few doctors visits and a nutritionist consultation, decided to overhaul my diet and now I’ve been meal planning/macro counting daily since March. Totally cut out alcohol. I also increased my mileage and formalized my side training, investing in weights for a mini gym in my bedroom so my husband could start using too. The focus is mostly pacing/cardio, modest lifting, calisthenics, and functional strength for a half hour or so six days a week. And running-wise I’m up to 7 miles four days a week as of this summer. So the majority of my physical changes came over the last 5 months.

And yet despite all that, my a1c has remained stubborn. 🥲 But it hasn’t risen at least thanks to the changes and I’ve never felt better. 😊

The biggest transformation isn’t always physical

One of those Sundays going through old photos and I came across this one from a few years ago.
Looking back, it reminds me how far I’ve come. I’ve been heavier than this, but ironically, lately I’ve felt worse in my body than I did back then — constantly thinking I wasn’t good enough.
I’ve started to see my own value and love myself without relying on external validation. We are so much more than just our bodies. I’m embracing this inner journey, which is so much more important than the external one.
I’ll keep progressing, but this time, for myself.
Feeling a little vulnerable sharing this, but if it motivates even one person, it’s worth it.
