Soon to be a georgian student!

I would like to ask about admission requirements for Computer programming I did A levels in maths CS and business but the admission officer is asking for English 12 which i haven’t done so she is asking to enroll in a ENG4C.

What should i do, are there any other alternatives?

She said it’s separate and a different thing from ILETS or DET which is required as well.. while the durham college gave me a conditional offer and they didn’t ask for English 12

Did any1 else encounter smth like this while registering for admission.

Best Housing Option Near Campus?

I accepted my offer to Georgian as an option and now last minute I'm deciding to go. I'm #15 on the Georgian residence waitlist so i think I'll get in. I don't know much about residence and dining and stuff. My mom thinks georgian residence plus meal plan is the simplest and best but I really prefer to cook my own food and im gluten intolerant so idk how many choices ill have on a meal plan. I think residence is a private room in a shared 2-room suite? I wanna have the option to have guests overnight and im guessing thats not allowed or a roomate may not be comfortable with it anyway. And given its the official georgian residence, im concerned its overpriced. Could anyone give me insight or recommendations? I'm trying to spend less than $1000 per month on rent. I haven't calculated how much rent costs per month on campus. Also my program has me doing only placements and not classes I believe for Winter term, so I won't need to live in Barrie for Winter so can i get out of rent in any way? Any experiences with other housing places? Is a 1 bedroom worth it. I'm not gonna have a car so I need something close to campus.

Lot of questions sorry, but if anyone can give general advice or answer a specific question I really appreciate it <3

Want Your Opinions

I attended Georgian college over ten years ago.

Now I am going back to Georgian college for a new program.

When I went to register for my classes, it would not allow me to select any communications class that is required and included in my tuition.

When I contacted the school, they said that I already completed the communications course from when I attended over ten years ago.

The fact that I wasn’t even given a choice and I am now having to contact the school once again to ask them to let me take the communications course again as I would like a better grade than what I had gotten over 10 years ago.

In addition, they told me that I’ve already taken enough general education courses that I won’t need any more. Once again I had to reach out to say I would prefer to take new general education classes so I can try and get better grades so my previous grades from over 10 years ago don’t bring down my GPA.

I am assuming my general education and communications class is also included in my tuition so I would prefer to take a communications class and general education class if that’s what I’m paying for.

What do you guys think? ( of course I’ll be in contact with the school to figure everything out)

It just feels like they’re trying to take money from me then give me less. Let me decide if I want to retake classes that I’m paying for.

Orientation (Barrie campus)

Hey, I’m going into first year at Georgian VETN program, and I was going to reserve a spot for orientation, but it starts on the 8th, and my schedule says my first class is on the 8th within the timeframe orientation starts. Is my schedule wrong? Or can orientation and schedules be overlapping?

Anyone taking Massage Therapy?

I am a new student taking massage therapy this fall. I’m a bit confused as to when the clinical preparedness permit as well as my first aid and cpr etc. is due as I can’t find any definitive due dates. Is there anyone else who is taking this course or anyone who has taken this course? I could use some help! Thank you!

communication disorders assistant program

hello everyone!

I am a recent graduate who is interested in applying to the communication disorders assistant program at Georgian in the fall. I did want to ask a couple of questions about the program and was hoping for answers from former or current students!

I am planning on applying with a degree in communication and media studies. I am currently unsure if my degree falls within the scope of what the college is looking for. I was wondering if there are any students in the program that were unsure about whether their degrees counted, and what their degrees were!

I did also want to ask about the workload for the program. Is it possible to work part-time while completing the program? How long are classes usually, and what is the workload like? I would love to hear from students who are dorming or renting closer to the college, and get any tips on how to balance that with school.

I would also love to hear about general experiences and if there is anything in particular I should know before I apply.

Thank you so much in advance :)
