Archaeologists just discovered an 1,800-year-old temple to Mars in Germany (October 2026)
Archaeologists working near the Kapersburg Roman fort in the Taunus Mountains just uncovered a stone temple dedicated to the Roman god of war, Mars.
Along with the temple's foundations, they also found a incredibly rare, finely cast bronze statuette of Victoria (the goddess of victory) and a Late Antique brooch, suggesting the site was used long after the fort itself was abandoned around 275 AD.
It’s crazy to think how much of the Roman Empire's northern frontier is still just sitting out there waiting to be found.
