Godforge beta feedback

Let's be honest here

Other than a couple of different mechanics here and there like ultimate and imprints it's an exact raid copy, and most likely this is a picked direction. Probably you address some issues like market and skill books fusion, but those are very subtle differences and they won't sway the playerbase in masses.

I've got the idea: you're trying to make a better version of a game you love, and Plarium has never been listening to their playerbase, but at this stage it's just RSL which is worse on any level.
Core gameplay is still here - hours of turned on phone, boatload of useless grinding everywhere. For RSL it was an innovating concept, for you it's copycatting of a very questionable design.

You need to both address Raid issues AND add something really new in order to succeed

Watcher of realms is a really good example.

They took a different combat mechanic, used the Raid economy/event system on every level, and slapped a ton of QOL improvements, like autobattle that repeats your actions for the level, so you can strategise 1 time and that's it. I don't need to rely on random or manually replay dungeons 1000 times.

I don't bring UI and graphics because it's just a beta, but they should be taken into consideration as well. It's on a 2010 level. Will you be able to make such a drastic leap when out of beta?

Do you really need that many heroes for Beta? It's like their design was you main priority. We don't need that many if there's nowhere to use them.

You should really think of a direction. Right now there's no need for me to play Godforge as everything is already present in RSL, and the small differences are not worth of a HUGE! (it's that huge and we all know ot) time investment this game requires

We all support HH, but in the end we are product consumers, and we expect a good one. Give us a direction, a plan, a hint why it's really new or when it will be, or it's a dead end

Ps

Random Beta Experience Thoughts

I’m trying to enjoy the game, but right now it’s struggling to hold my attention. Here are some of the main factors contributing to a less-than-positive experience:

  • UI / Navigation - Key takeaway: Confused / Frustrated
    • As many others have mentioned, the UI and navigation controls feel inconsistent and scattered across different screens and menus.
    • Simple example: on PC, the Esc key should consistently act as a “back” button or close the most recently opened pop-up window.
  • Graphics / Visual Design - Key takeaway: A bit jarring
    • The game needs more visual polish overall.
    • It currently feels like an awkward mix of realism and overly bright effects that don’t always match the environment, making some visuals feel jarring or distracting.
  • Progression Systems - Key takeaway: Confused and Grindy
    • Account and Champion progression feels overly convoluted and excessively grind-heavy.
    • Champion leveling has a poor progression curve and quickly starts to feel repetitive.
    • Skill advancement is also very grindy in the Beta, especially when trying to obtain pages, books, and tomes.
    • Gear leveling (see Gold below) - hard to experiment in Beta
    • It should be somewhat easier to obtain pages and scrolls needed to upgrade Rare champions.
  • Champ Ascension Dungeon - Key takeaway: Confused and Grindy
    • The rewards often don’t feel proportional to the effort required.
    • Difficulty spikes sharply around Dungeon level 5+, which makes progression feel frustrating rather than rewarding.
  • Dungeon Gear Farming - Key takeaway: Grindy
    • Alpha felt like it allowed more targeted farming by slot and set.
    • In the Beta, farming feels far more RNG-dependent, with randomness layered on top of more randomness.
  • Gear System Complexity - Key takeaway: Confused and Grindy
    • Honestly, someone needs to explain the gear system to me like I’m 5 years old. There are currently too many overlapping variables that I'm struggling to understand:
      • 6–7 gear slots with fixed & random stats by slot per piece
      • Set bonuses (mostly fine, but no clear indication which are better for different champ types)
      • Gear grades (I–V) - add a UI explanation/note on what the various levels drive
      • Gear types (Plate, Chain, Leather, Cloth, etc.) - which type of gear is good/useful/desired for which champion types?
    • Set bonuses especially need clearer guidance or indicators showing which Champion archetypes benefit most:
      • Defender (assume Plate?)
      • Disruptor (assume Cloth or Leather?)
      • Brawler (assume Chain?)
      • Slayer (assume Leather?)
    • Gear types are also unclear:
      • Does using mismatched gear types negatively affect Champions?
      • Example: Plate on a Disruptor or Cloth on a Defender.
    • The current system feels like it could be deep, but right now it is not intuitive.
  • Equipment Slots - Key takeaway: Confusion
    • The current 6 gear pieces plus weapon slot setup is fine overall, but nothing particularly stands out yet.
    • Raid has a 9-slot system (6 gear + 3 accessories) showing that there’s room for future expansion, but I’d recommend refining the core foundation first before adding complexity.
  • Weapon Crafting - Key takeaway: Confused and Grindy
    • The process currently feels excessively grindy:
      • Farm Hag’s Hollow endlessly
      • RNG crafting results
      • Then level, refine, and imprint
    • I’d also recommend expanding the weapon system to include shields or adding a dedicated shield slot.
  • Imprints - Key takeaway: Confused and Grindy
    • The effects and outcomes of imprints are not always clear or easy to understand.
    • Could be a cool and defining system, but right now it's adding more confusion for me
    • There really needs to be:
      • A preview system
      • Or a “this is what will change” comparison before finalizing an imprint
    • You may also want to introduce a smaller set of simpler or "standard", easier-to-understand imprint categories:
      • “Good for Defenders”
      • “Good for Disruptors”
      • Etc.
  • Gold Economy - Key takeaway: Painful and Grindy
    • Gold acquisition feels extremely restrictive.
    • Selling gear provides crafting materials, which is nice, but very little actually rewards meaningful amounts of gold.
    • This heavily limits:
      • Progression
      • Experimentation
      • Build testing
  • Beta Quest Design - Key takeaway: Painful
    • Having some daily and weekly quests that cannot currently be completed because systems/content are disabled feel like a self-inflicted problem.
    • Asking players to complete unavailable objectives just creates frustration.
  • Learning the Game - Key takeaway: Mostly Confused
    • Right now my approach has mostly been:
      • Throw random Champions into content
      • See what works
      • See what fails
    • But that brute-force process feels chaotic and doesn’t actually help players learn the systems in a meaningful way.

Overall, my experience has ranged from “meh” to outright frustrating. Like many others, I genuinely want to like the game, but in its current state it does not feel ready yet — which I believe the team already understands.

I also understand surveys are likely planned, and I’d strongly recommend organizing feedback around specific systems or intended Beta testing goals. Grouping questions by gameplay area or player experience would likely produce much more actionable feedback.

Beta Feedback so far

First off I plan to support this game because I really want you guys to succeed been following HH gaming for years now.

That said... I'm not particular impressed.

  1. Graphics are in that weird area in which they look good but because you're going for that super realistic look it doesn't look good enough. Slightly stylized similar to raid maybe would have been a better approach.
Right now it looks like you tried for realistic but the budget ran out.

  2. Combat even at 3x felt sluggish

  3. 2 active abilities on champs with 1 ultimate it just feels like you don't have a lot of options. Raid gives you more options than this and I expected you guys to at least be equals.

  4. When you go to upgrade champs there is WAY to much going on here, huge cluster mess most casual players will get turned off by this entire thing. You need casual players to be successful otherwise you'll go broke.

  5. Nothing stands out, these feels like every other generic raid clone that has ever existed but it feels even more generic than usual. There is nothing here that stands out from the crowd.

Lets break it down, champs have less combat utility than raid, it looks weirder and uglier than raid, it runs poorly compared to raid, menus feel messy compared to raid.

So how are you going to convince people to play less raid or less other gotcha games and instead play yours?

That dynamic combat camera? Cause I turned that trash off in 2 minutes. What's the hook guys, what separates you, what makes you better?

You know why every MMO after WoW struggled? Because they mostly copied WoW and threw new paint on. They saw something that worked and tried to copy it without realizing most players are not going to quit their current game for a generic clone that is basically the same thing.

What's the point of the game? Why even play it.

At this point I'm like: Why even play this game.
Looks like a Raid Shadow Legends clone. Works worse.
Whats the point?
Will it be one day better? What is the vision behind this game?
I don't get it.

Pulling a legendary feels lackluster

My favorite part about these game is seeing that gold/special animation whatever come up when you finally hit. I don’t feel that at all from hitting in here , it just feels like “well here damn” was hoping for something a little more spicy

Best level up choices

I’m genuinely confused what the different choices are when you level up.

Experience, not sure which type

Some other words I don’t know

The only thing I’m sure of is Armour which gives some nice shiny purples and blues.

What are all the options? What is the optimal choice?

Rift keys not working?

I have 7 rift keys but I can't trigger any rifts, even outside of multibattle. I'm on the progress mission to do 2 rifts...

Bug with Druid

it seems to me that the barkskin ability of druid(uncommon unit) does not work, it says it places a protect buff on an ally but everytime i use it, it either does nothing or it restarts druid's turn

I don't understand this level up menu

You can toggle the little diamonds and change them, but there doesn't seem to be any explanation of what they do or mean? Sacrifice max level, ascended, awakened, then I can toggle between different icons on the right etc.

What does all this mean? And my hero's seem to be levelling up automatically without me clicking on the promote button?

Godforge Closed Beta Drops May 19 — Here’s Why I’m Jumping In Early

I’ve been following Godforge, and the closed beta officially opens on May 19. I put together a video breaking down why I’m actually excited for this one — mainly the clean visuals, high-detail hero designs, and the fact that every character is pulled from different mythologies. The combat system also feels way more tactical than I expected.

If you want to get into the beta early, you can sign up here:

Here’s the video if you want to see what the game looks like so far:

If you end up signing up, tell me which hero you’re hoping to try first — I’m working on guides and team builds next.
