I’m 37M, a mental health nurse originally from Victoria, with 2 kids (4yo and a 5mo). Big into the live music and AFL scenes, and my wife’s into both as well so if you're female. Feels pretty tough making new mates at this age, especially up here on the GC, so figured I’d just put myself out there.

I saw Hellions at the Cooly Hotel the other night which was sick. Into bands like BMTH, The Plot In You, Enter Shikari, the Bronx etc.

Would be awesome to meet a few like minded people, whether that’s gigs, footy or just chatting music. Happy to make a little group too. Absolutely no pressure either way 🤘

Hey all not sure where else to turn. Just feel useless sitting around waiting I’ve done everything else. Police have been contacted and report filed, I’ve gone to All frequented spots, I’ve called all the hospitals, we have been tracking his bank accounts and linkt to see if he’s gone through tolls or spent money but nothing since Sunday in either one. now I’m asking for help in here. He has been missing since Sunday night 6pm. He left the house told grandma he was going to friends house and hasn’t been seen since. The friend was contacted and said that there were never any plans for them to hang out which means he lied where he was going (very outbid character for him) He’s 24 and a quiet guy, he doesn’t drink, party or even go out much, he works hard and hangs out at home with family mostly. He doesn’t have any social media and is a old soul. He does have mental health struggles which is why I’m so worried. While he has taken his car for a drive just to unwind in the past it’s only ever for a couple of hours and never overnight. His phone goes straight to voicemail and has since at least 2am on Monday morning (again out if character)
Nothing adds up yet all the worst scenarios are running through my head. Please please please if anyone sees his car can you reach out. He drives a 2002 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER PRADO it’s a light goldy silver colour. REGO is 639GSQ
He is from Logan area and was last seen near Hillcrest. However could have gone anywhere so please if anyone sees the car let me know.
(I’m asking for the car because I know it’s more identifiable than a strangers face. He loves his car and would at least be near it, I’m also worried it’s somewhere remote or gone off road with bad weather and hasn’t been spotted yet)

Hey y’all! I (33M) am moving from Toowoomba to Hope Island next week and wanted to build a life and make some friends!

I like the usual GC type stuff; gym, hiking, social sport, music (listening and creating [the latter of which I’m very bad at, though]), trivia, coffee, pastries and most anything else, and so just wanted some places to start (I went on bumble BFF one time and it was the fucking weirdest experience ever 😭 so fingers crossed reddit is somehow better) 👏

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Could be a small cafe, bakery, takeaway spot, barber, gym, market stall, tradie, bookshop, or any random local business that consistently does a good job but doesn’t get talked about much.

Keen to support more local places instead of just going to the same big names all the time.

What’s up with the digger and the large black pipe pumping water on the beach? I noticed they are working their way down the beach extending the pipe.
Is it some sort of beach restoration to account for erosion?

Normally a confident female late 40s driver who loves driving

Today, heading to Brisbane from the Gold Coast… Somewhere past Logan motorway exit and around Slacks Creek on M1 —- driving on the M1 - minding my own business…

And suddenly - from the left most lane - this huge double train semi trailer truck out of my peripheral vision - I saw it angling towards me in the middle lane… Way too rapidly… (it wasn’t even bad weather like yesterday)

(just an FYI, this truck was a bland brown double trailer truck… like the ones u see going to construction sites - It wasn’t one of those ones which had the banner or the company name printed all over the sides)

I honked my horn —- but he didn’t stop and seconds later… I felt his truck hit my passenger side…(I had luckily dropped my son to work half an hour ago…) and drag along the passenger side… And then I realized that it wasn’t just one semi trailer. It had a trailer attached to it with the second equally large truck load… Dragging against the body of my car… it was all I could do going at 100+ kilometers an hour… Gripping onto my wheel… And not being pushed into the right lane and onto other cars

The truck didn’t stop… It bolted ahead and I tried my hardest to memorize the rego number…before the truck went to too far ahead for me to see clearly

I tried to look for a shoulder to stop, but apparently Brisbane M1 doesn’t have much of a shoulder… And so I had to get into the left lane… And look to exit… All of this happening within seconds a car came past me two guys in there… Waving and pointing to the truck in front thumbs up… And zoomed ahead next to the truck… Possibly to grab a picture of the Driver maybe I don’t know but I had to exit right there as soon as I saw the exit… And stopped the car because I could smell something burning and didn’t know what extent the damage was.

I called my brother. My fingers were shaking… he was just about to leave the house for work and he was about eight minutes away thank goodness… And I just sat there completely shaken and bawling my eyes out. I don’t think I’ve cried like that since I was a baby… I was near hysterical by the time he got there… And he helped me call the police… and they put me through the ambulance… Who then came and checked me over… I didn’t even know where I was ..my brother had to tell them where my location was… There was a police report done pictures taken…

Incredibly because it’s a BMW - and a small one at that… It looked from outside, like not much damage… For the size and speed with which double truck was barreling through my passenger side

I was on the phone with insurance for three hours this afternoon

They said as long as you don’t have the full name - drivers license and the address of the driver, we can’t supply with the loan car… I also had to pay a full excess… To lodge the claim and get my car towed … cause they said once we establish that it is a no fault… Which can take weeks by the way… Is when I will get my excess back…and then maybe I can get a loan car… But what am I gonna do in the meantime?

I have to go to work… How will I earn a living to pay the amount of excess… somehow my fault because obviously being barraged by a gigantic double truck I should have been able to take a picture somehow of the driver who was meters above me - and also stopped to ask him his full name and address, right which of course he would’ve given so willingly… While he was bolting away on the M1

I need your advice:

- how likely is it that the company that the Rego belongs to…(which I’ve submitted to the police and the insurance company -as well as photos of the damage) how likely and common is it that the company denies that the driver or the truck was even on that highway at that time ? Surely they have to log every journey… And the roster of each staff member?

- I’ve been told there are cameras on the M1… But surely they’re not in every spot… And he possibly knew there was no camera there? And even if there is a camera further ahead or just before… How often do they delete? How easy easy to get access to the videos and with the police do that or would they just blame it on privacy laws?

- I’m really nervous and very anxious… very grateful that I was on the driver side, and my son had just been dropped off for work… Very grateful that I had held on very strongly to the steering wheel… And hadn’t veered into the right (fast lane) -

since this incident this afternoon… All I’ve been reading is the post about the poor woman who passed away on the M1 crash… And that could’ve been very very closely me… or sustaining very serious injuries for life - I’m incredibly grateful for the angels that have protected me

But I’m not sure where I stand and I’m hoping for any advice or guidance

Noise never annoys. But was at a memorial service at Allambe Gardens and every silent moment seemed to be punctuated by a loud exhaust from a high-performance, turbocharged, or supercharged engine. Harleys are bad too. Once I noticed that noise was everywhere. All day, all night in Surfers. Woken up in the middle of teh night, the noise seems to take forever to decay away.

NSW has strict noise limits for vehicle exhausts. The maximum permissible noise level is around 90 dB at a specified test distance. Do any such laws exist in Queensland?

Okay so I understand this is a bit weird but, does anyone know why a random teen (accompanied by some other boys,one bouncing a basketball, and presumably his dad) would be looking in my mailbox? His dad said they were putting something in it but when I went out to look there was absolutely nothing there. I’m worried they took some of our mail but I really don’t want to make a big deal out of it. He was looking in it a very long while which is what worried me. If it were just a glance it’d just be weird but this was verging on crazy. This is on Christina Ryan Way btw. Has anyone else seen these guys and if so what the hell are they doing? And should I call someone? I’m still worried they took mail because they were there so long and didn’t do what they said they were doing. Am I maybe crazy? It’s fine if I am but I’d rather know lol.

New to the place, but not that really new (I moved here 3yrs ago from a foreign country) was thinking to explore in town. Curious how does it feels to mingle locals. So was thinking to visit that regent cinema friday night or weekend night that plays live music out there, was it worth it to buy the tickets? What are you thoughts? my partner its not interested at all but just wanted to read your thoughts. Love to support local music.

Im guy in my forties and have PTSD, and have fried my brain from drugs.

I used to do mental health support work but I'm burned out from it and am fatigued and exhausted a lot of the time.

I'm building back my health slowly. I've been a bit of a mess due to grief and trauma and shit.

Anyway, I need some extra income though to pay back my mate and don't want to go back to looking after other people because it's draining. I don't really have many skills in other fields since I did support work most of my life.

Im a musician and I write songs and am committed to it, ( making albums and releasing them) but it doesn't pay much. no one buys music and I don't do covers.

Anyway, any suggestions on how to get some extra income when you're not 100 per cent healthy and not highly skilled in shit?

I go to bond university and I wanna do Bachelor of Arts so I can major in criminology but my second option is Bachelor of Arts majoring in psychology. Does anyone have any advice for me I’m not to sure which one to go into and which one is for me.
