My Fuel Pump Housing is F***ed: Any ideas? (Mk3, inline pump, repair housing?)

Hi folks, had a hot start issue, got it narrowed down to a weak and dying fuel pump. My screws were seized on there, ended up taking the pump housing out completely and it's in bad shape.

Any ideas on what to do? A new housing is $500+ on eBay which is insane. A friend recommended a few options:

  1. MK3 tank swap, ditch the two fuel pump system entirely. (Seems expensive and overkill for my 1.8 8v.)

  2. Run an inline system, just buy an aftermarket pump that doesn't use a housing.

  3. Try to repair my old housing.

Anyone have any other options or ideas/tips?

Thanks in advance.❤️

Project started

I started disassembling my '85 Golf. Got some floor pan rot to take care of. More parts to take off until I can get it to a shop to repair the pans.

How to replace the high beam lights?

My Golf 2 GTI (8v 87') has a broken light on one of the high beams, but I can't seem to figure out how to replace it, or what to even replace it with... It has a ground cable, but the power cable is just this wire that's soldered(?) directly to the light prongs.

MFA / Engine swap

Recently I asked a question about fitting an mfa panel in my 1.3l nz golf. It's possible but I Recently had a look and I thing my engine is not able to fit the oil temp sensor and vacuum line that goes to the mfa cluster. I have been having some trouble with my engine and I am kind of testing the waters of swapping it. I have the ability of buying a 1.8l engine with the gearbox and axles for around €500, engine seen in the picture. He says the engine code is dx but I can't find any reference to that code. Does anyone have any experience with swapping a mk2 engine? Is it worth it? Please let me know.

Progress on the mk2 golf resto! Loads done!

Ive been busy this week, and I can tell you, it has been hot here in the UK! It hasn't stopped me though, we have most of the golf now in a Novol epoxy primer. I got a video coming to the channel at 3:30pm today so check that out if your interested. Only a couple more videos left now on this Mk2 Golf GTI series so I will soon be picking a winner for the R-tech welding mask! Golf MK2

I've recently purchased myself a golf 2 and when I took it to the road to drive it home all was well did the highway for about 60-65 kms, when i returned to the normal traffic lower rpms the engine suddenly failed and stalled. The engine refused to retart and eventually the battery died. Got the car home jumpstarted the battery and the engine started, after talking to some people trying to figure out what the problem is thinking is was maybe a bad alternator or a bad battery. After checking them both with a multimeter they both seem fine with the battery reading 12.5 volts with engine off and 14.5 with engine running indicating that the alternator should be working. After thinking further people suggested that maybe the carburator might have gone bad or might be filthy. The problems that I have is that when idling after the while the rpms goes to a solid 900-850 but always seems the stutter the slighest, The rubber pipes getting really hot not really sure if that's something concerning, not knowing why the engine suddenly failed after driving that distance and then there is this noise after the engine has been running for a bit and reving the engine the slighest or when it drops back down. I'm personally a complete complete noobie to cars but trying to learn myself bit by bit. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated or any advice what best maintenance bits I could be doing to make the engine run a bit smoother or keep the car healthy.

Car is a Golf MK2 from 1991, is a 1.6 engine and is from the EU

Installing MFA

Ok so, I have this mfa panel of which I needed the speed sensor for my cruise control. The speed and rpm gauge didn't work which is why it was extremely cheap. But I think the mfa computer does work. I took it apart and I want to know what I need to transfer to my own cluster to make it work. Except all the sensors and wiring and stuff, for now just what do I need from the cluster. And I don't want to hear "oh it's so hard and nearly impossible." I know it's hard. I just want to know. 1. Is it possible? And 2. What do I need from the mfa cluster?

I am restoring a Country Golf and need help with specific window part

https://preview.redd.it/2rauapi92d9h1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab147e0ec41200ecbcaf3aa2bc3154af2c880b74

Hello, this picture seems to be from MKI Golf but the item I need is number seven the outer part where the rubber scraper attaches to. What is that part called and if you can help me find the specific part if you have needed that yourself, preferably in EU. The metal parts I had on my country were eaten by rustmonsters.
