After short ride I love this car

Continuing my relatively new R ownership with my ‘13 and ready to start adding high quality mods 👍

Goal: maintain daily fun function/drivability with potential for occasional track use and definite use in cruises/meets.

Already done:
Under the hood/motor - intake, BOV, downpipe, intercooler, tune (local shop is estimating around 400hp based on 0-60 timing and feel alone without being on dyno yet).

APR short shifter in-hand ready to be installed

Exterior -
ECS carbon fiber spoiler extension

Wants:
Suspension - (slightly lower and definitely a bit stiffer). Would like to reduce/remove body roll

Exterior - lip/splitter kit all around

Exhaust - catback. Needs more sound but not obnoxious (too old for that)

Brakes - would like performance pads, rotors, and lines

Wheels - really getting into the rally look on these cars, definitely needs to be a bit wider and sticking with 18”. Tires will need to be added as well.

Budget:
$4k - slightly adjustable if needed. Does not have to include the cost of installation.

I would love to hear your suggestions/personal lists/ideas/links/pictures/etc.

Jk lol I'm all stock but this looks great! Got a banging deal on some Thule wing bars so I figured I'd pick up some top rides as well. Super easy install and looks sick. I'm from Edmonton and going down to Calgary/banff area this weekend so excited to bring the bike down! Probs shouldn't go much faster than what, 110kph? Bike feels surprisingly very locked in, didn't feel a thing going 70 in the city.

PFA, did my first autocross event with the R this past weekend, and needless to say it was an absolute blast! Just wanting to ask around for some insight on oil cooling upgrades, as I was getting up to about 250°F before letting it cool a bit, which was expected given the circumstances. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also currently in BST class, so any other suggestions (maybe primarily wheels and tires?) to help improve (along with seat time, of course) would be greatly appreciated! Sorry for the essay, lol

Listened to the consensus here, and Im picking up the R Friday with a full Unitronic Stage 2 setup and a South Bend Stage 3 Daily clutch.

Now, like any other nutcase, Im looking for more parts before I even pick up the car. I want a 1" drop and some sway bars to tighten it up for some track time. Maybe help combat some of the understeer.

What are you guys running?

Added some bike racks this year to be able to get around and explore more trails around and outside of Ottawa. Went with the Thule FastRide racks along with OEM bars that were wrapped black from the previous owner

My R is Pure White IRL.

Ever since I got my 26 Golf R, I’ve had this annoying creaking noise that’s gotten progressively worse. At first I only really noticed it to the left of the driver’s seat, seemingly coming from the B pillar area, or maybe the corner where the driver side door window meets the corner of the driver’s door.

I now hear it from every side, but seems to sound the loudest on the driver’s side. That could just be because that’s what I’m closest to as the driver though.

Interestingly, when I roll down the driver side door window, it lessens or almost completely goes away. I’m not sure what to make of that.

I hear this creaking noise entering and exiting driveways, going over speed bumps, turning, and on pretty much any imperfections in the road.

I did buy some gummi pflege stift and have applied it to all four door weather strippings, and pretty much every other piece of rubber trim around the doors and windows, but that hasn’t seemed to help.

Any ideas appreciated. Also curious to know if anyone else has the same issue.

Obviously kidding, I genuinely don’t know how it didn’t fail completely, along with my dying slave. Spent all night putting my new DKM stage 2 clutch in, the Golf R transmissions are not for the weak. But we will see how she holds up. So far buttery smooth, enjoying the slightly heavier smf.
