In a recent Philosophy Club conversation about AI, we kept returning to the importance of human connection. But if human connection is so important, how do we actually build and participate in community when the world around us feels uncertain, divided, or chaotic?

Crisis can make community especially important, but it can also make participating in community harder. Together, we’ll explore what we owe one another, what it means to belong, and how we can participate in creating the kinds of communities we need.

I’m Dr. Louise, a philosophical counselor with a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. Philosophy Club is a new community space here in South Bend where we think deeply together about questions that matter, using philosophical ideas to deepen our own understanding.

All you need to bring is your curiosity and a willingness to explore!

A planned renovation has not turned into a complete and permanent demolition of our public pool.

Some people blame our local city government without knowing the state of Indiana, and our state representatives, are to blame. The state is actively starving our local democracies through SEA-1. They are taking away our local decision making for quality of life.

You can be certain they are going after our libraries and parks and trails and so much more infrastructure. This is a negative to our quality of life and our local democracy decision making.

Note the increasing trash and water bills as a result of the same state government take over.
