GTA VI simply won’t be playable for a lot of Steam users

I say this not because of the game itself but because of the lack of support services from Rockstar and linking new emails to Steam. I’ve just gone to play rdr2 for the first time in 3 years but I literally am unable to cause my email has changed and I can’t access the 2-factor authentication system or change the rockstar account linked to steam and am caught in an unfixable verification loop. This means all rockstar games on steam are now forever unplayable, including future releases. So people who have kept their rockstar account info consistently up to date since 2012 onwards without slipping will be fine, but those who have changed their online id at some point since 2012 will be SOL on release day and it’ll be very interesting. Just saying to make people aware really, I’m definitely only buying future rockstar games on console only now.

GTA 5 DARK VISUALS GLITCH

Hello!

I have an old system with a fresh and fairly debloated Windows 10 install on a new samsung SSD, an i7-2600k, new 2x8=16gb ddr3 1333mhz ram modules and a used AMD HD 6950.

Well.. in the last few days, after firing up GTA 5 Legacy version, the game appears to be "dark" in the sense that while the textures related to the player and the HUD are shown perfectly fine, all the map appears to be black, yet when any part the map itself is lit by a strong light like the ones close to the city airport, all the textures like the road and a possible car that you are driving under the light are shown perfectly fine.

I'm running the game in DirectX 10.0 mode with graphical settings that go past the 1024mb of VRAM installed in my HD 6950 (probably the game says ~1800mb are required), but it has never been a problem until yesterday: GTA was always running smoothly without heavy stutters or crashes of any kind at about 40fps.

I also tried to run another game, which is Team Fortress 2, and it had no issues whatsoever, very smooth and no visible artifacts.

I believe it is more of a software-related problem than something to do with old and faulty hardware, but I hope that somebody with way more experience than me in the field of AMD cards will have useful advices.

Thanks in advance.

New to Gta 5. NEED FRIENDS.

Hey Guys, I am 22 yrs old and wanted to enjoy the game. But for a beginner like me, I am overwhelmed with the gta world.

I want to learn and cooperate with other players but they seem to kill me the moment they see me.

I play on PC with enhanced version and my rockstar id is - iJutsu69

It would be a plus if you guys are communicating vocally, i.e., preferably turn on the voice mode.

GTA 5 activation required disconnected from rockstar (FUCK YOU ROCKSTAR)

Here’s a cleaner Reddit post you can use. I made it angry enough to show the frustration, but not so aggressive that people ignore the actual issue.

Title: GTA V on Steam won’t activate / Rockstar Launcher says disconnected — tried everything for 2 months

I’m desperate at this point and looking for help.

I bought GTA V on Steam around 10 years ago. It used to work fine, but for the past 2 months I haven’t been able to launch it at all.

When I try to open GTA V / GTA V Legacy from Steam, it asks me to activate Grand Theft Auto for my Rockstar account. After I sign in, the Rockstar Launcher says I’m disconnected from Rockstar’s platform / Social Club and the game refuses to launch.

I already contacted Rockstar Support and opened a ticket. Their support mostly gave me the usual copy-paste troubleshooting steps, but nothing fixed it. They escalated it to Tier 2, gave me GTA$1,500,000 as compensation, but the actual problem is still not solved and I still can’t play the game.

Things I have already tried:

  • Clean reinstall of Rockstar Games Launcher
  • Deleted Rockstar Launcher / Social Club folders from Documents and Program Files
  • Reinstalled the launcher through Steam
  • Reinstalled GTA V
  • Verified Steam game files
  • Logged out and back into Rockstar / Steam
  • Restarted PC multiple times
  • Restarted router
  • Flushed DNS
  • Checked firewall settings
  • Added Rockstar Launcher as an antivirus / firewall exception
  • Checked if antivirus was blocking anything
  • Cleared launcher files and logs
  • Renamed / deleted Rockstar folders
  • Tried uploading logs and screenshots to Rockstar Support, but even their support chat was bugging out with “missing or unexpected input”
  • Tried basically every public fix I could find online
  • Cleared launcher files and logs
  • Blocked and unblocked inbound firewall rules
  • Tried random community fixes people claimed worked
  • NOTHING WORKS!!??

Rockstar keeps telling me it may be an internet / firewall / antivirus issue, but the game worked fine before, and nothing on my end seems to fix it.

The main error flow is:

  1. Launch GTA V from Steam
  2. Rockstar Launcher opens
  3. It asks me to activate the game for my Rockstar account
  4. I sign in
  5. It says I’m disconnected from Rockstar Launcher / Social Club
  6. GTA V doesn’t launch

At this point I’ve wasted days trying to fix a game I already paid for and legally own on Steam. I’m not looking for generic advice like “reinstall the launcher” because I’ve done that multiple times.

Has anyone fixed this specific issue where GTA V on Steam asks for activation and then Rockstar Launcher says disconnected? Could this be an account-linking issue between Steam and Rockstar, a Social Club token problem, or something broken on Rockstar’s side?

Any real help would be appreciated. I honestly just want to play the game again.

Honestly at this point I'm just gonna sue Rockstar.

Rockstar Support has honestly been a joke through this whole thing. They keep ignoring my submissions and marking my requests as “resolved” when they literally have not resolved anything. In most cases, they haven’t even properly replied before closing the ticket. The issue is still exactly the same: GTA V asks me to activate my account, then says I’m disconnected from Rockstar Launcher / Social Club, and I still can’t play the game I paid for. I’m sick of getting copy-paste replies, being told to repeat the same basic troubleshooting steps, and then having the ticket treated like the problem is fixed when nothing has changed.

Shooting without a mouse

Hey guys I have GTA v on my laptop and don't have a mouse so I usually just shoot with my touchpad,is there any particular settings I can put to make shooting more easier?

Ps: I realized mouse is very important cause I sometimes have to skip the missions that require me to take out some enemies cause it's hard aiming with the touchpad and shooting at the same time

Does it worth transferring my data from Gta 5 legacy to enhanced? I am currently 160 levels and have $50 million to my name. I basicially have every business and can buy everything i want. Idk if i would miss the in-game chat. Does enhanced have something other than better graphics?
