- You are way too close to me Mister Human
- Stop right there, it's 1100mm!
Morgens um halb 6 Uhr ist das Geschrei nach Futter schon groß 🥰
This little fella was incredibly tame! He would come and land on my hand, without my offering of food. I have never seen such a trusting wild bird before :)
It’s 39 degrees Celsius today. I put out some water for the birds in the park. Less than five minutes later, great tits and a blue tit found the water! That was so fast.
Do you put out water for the birds?
Another update. I had to render this in HD rather than 4K to get round the 1GB upload limit.
After the staged exits of the first two over the last few days, today saw another four leave the nest - three over over quite a short period during late morning, then another later in the afternoon.
At various stages, you can see the parents outside enticing them out. And you can see some of the fledglings fly off out of camera, then head back to the Birch tree.
There is just one left now.
Great Tits (Parus major), located in Nottingham, UK.
I ought to add that when the last one leaves, I won't have any further excuse not to cut that lawn.
Previous update: 2026 Nesting - Second Brood - Fledging : r/GreatTits
Well, after 18 days since hatching, the first of the seven in the second brood left the nest on 23 June - surprisingly late in the day. At about 6.40pm.
All of the first brood left quite early in the morning and over two days, and previous years' broods have done the same. I think this might be to with the heat wave we're experiencing in the UK (>30°C), and they are waiting until the cooler part of the day.
The second left around 3.05pm on 25 June.
Just waiting on the remaining five now. This is more spaced out than I've seen previously.

And the snack has to be a cashew. No peanut, no sunflower, that cute mouth only accepts cashews.
Hey everyone, added the willow branch. Hope you all like it :) I only started my painting journey in Feb this year and this little one is up there with my favourites.
Hello! Requested to post on here.
And blue tit...
Hope these are good enough...
