Today is Monday. The new East County Library officially opened on Saturday. Everybody wants to go see it. This is understandable however it is also problematic.
Parking is a joke, at least the underground parking. The ramp is too narrow and they need a large sign saying that the LOT IS FULL. There appears to be a ground-level parking area to the west of the library that needs to be resurfaced and hopefully it will open soon.
Inside the open space is plentiful. At some point they could easily double the number of books. One problem is the elevators. They are a real choke point. There is only one elevator that goes to the rooftop. I suspect that once everyone has visited the rooftop once one elevator service will be OK. With every care facility within 10 miles taking residents to see the new library the place is crowded with wheelchairs. Wheelchairs in the tiny elevator cars makes for lines waiting to use the elevators. Additionally, once on the rooftop, there are no open stairs to exit, you have to use an elevator.
The new LUCKY DAY section is quite large and well populated although there was nothing there that caught my eye. I will likely continue to search the catalogue and put books on hold that I will have sent to the Troutdale location so that I can park.
Stumbled onto this while waiting for my dog at Petsmart on Fairview. Remarkable sculpture.
Anyone know of any good jobs hiring? Gresham area
Trying to help out a 21-year-old kid who’s had a really rough start in life. He’s been in and out of foster care most of his life, his dad recently got locked up, and his stepmom got them kicked out of their motel after getting involved with drugs.
I put him in a motel for a couple nights so he’s at least safe for now, but I’m desperately trying to help him get on his feet. He’s genuinely a good kid, not on drugs, respectful, and actually wants to work, he’s just been dealt an unbelievably bad hand.
He has some experience working on cars, but at this point he’s willing to do pretty much any honest work. If anyone knows of places hiring ASAP, day labor, shops willing to give someone a chance, or any local resources that could help, I’d seriously appreciate it.
Feel free to DM me if you don’t want to comment publicly. Thank you.
Hi everyone,
I’ll be moving to Gresham, Oregon for a summer internship at onsemi from around the end of May to the end of August, and I’m currently looking for a place to stay.
I’m a bachelor/student intern and new to the area, so I don’t know much about which neighborhoods or localities are good, safe, and convenient for living. I would really appreciate suggestions on:
I’m open to shared housing, private rooms, or apartments.
Any advice or recommendations would be really helpful. Thanks!
Apparently the new business being built next to Best Buy at Gresham Station is just going to be a relocated Cost Plus-World Market. I was hoping for something new and exciting. Ugh.
Here's a Google Maps link. Anyone know what's up with it? Must be some sort of spot they own or something, just curious. There's almost always 3 or 4 of them there, and there was like two dozen or something when I drove by a bit ago.
What's the story at the Gresham libray today? Shame on fortis construction?
I hate xfinity so so much, i have to find some one else but it seems like they are the only providers besides cell tower and star link.
what are yall using ?
I'm not able to copy the text from their (edit: the MCSO) post but basically it says that the river has shifted a bit between Oxbow Park and Dabney Park and there are a lot of new "strainers" (submerged trees.) So if you're planning to go tubing or swimming or anything this summer, be careful!
It already looks so awful on Gresham Town Fair and Oregon Trail Center, and is way too bright in the sun… why??? I wish there was a way to stop it, it’s going to look awful.
