This is a guillotine format for 8 teams over up to 17 weeks.

Each owner starts with 2 lives. The lowest score of the week loses a life. No life left = elimination.

On weeks 6 and 11, an extra life will be awarded to the surviving team with the highest single-week score over the previous 5 weeks.

Snake draft with 3rd round reversal. Start on Aug 24 with a slow timer (12h) and switch to fast draft on Sep 7 6PM UTC if necessary.

QB/2RB/2WR/TE/Flex/Superflex/4BN roster (max 4 QBs, no dst/kickers). FAAB bidding on waivers, including players from eliminated teams. No trading allowed.

I have a free guillotine league on sleeper, this will be the third year doing a league like this, first time commissions of a guillotine league. Found them really fun in the past so would love to commission one myself.

I did decide to make a little weird for the rosters because why not shake it up a little.

How is the site/app this year? When I first started playing about 4-5 years ago, we used the guillotine site. Last year when Charchian sold it to Matthew Berry, we jumped ship because we had so many problems with it.

He is on the waivers in my guillotine league. How much you spending on him? Seems startable week one with all the colts injuries.

After nearly 20 years of playing non-PPR, I tried out some free ESPN PPR leagues last year and enjoyed it so this year I tried out a free beginners guillotine league for fun.

My roster seems fairly balanced to start and in week 1 I ended up with the highest projected point differential from the last place projected team. I wanted to go for consistent reliable production instead of people who could have big games but also flop badly.

Trying to figure out how to best prepare for my team's weaknesses, any advice is appreciated.

I had the first pick overall so I missed out on a lot of middle talent having to wait 34 picks between my b2b picks.

Questions/Advice

• The rosters of the worst projected teams don't really have anyone I'm too keen on besides a QB, since I don't have one, should I try to get a backup QB?

• My first two bye week players are Chase in Week 5 and Rice in Week 6, notable anchors of my team. I'm hoping a team with a good receiver gets eliminated in the early rounds and I can bid, but should I try to spend a lot?

• Planning to get an insurance back in case Jadarian Price struggles out of the gate.

We switched to sleeper last year, which has most of the settings I want, but iirc there was a setting on by default on guillotineleagues.com where you could stop players from going to waivers after week 13 or 14. So the final 4 teams or so could still pick up / drop guys but anyone who got chopped after that wouldn't release all their players to the wire.

I liked this setting since it constrained supply of top guys in the final weeks and rewarded good play all season.

Anyone know how to set this up correctly on sleeper or if it's possible at all?

First, to everyone who played with us last year.. THANK YOU. 

Seriously. 

Whether you stuck with us through the ups and downs or bailed on us and switched to another platform, I appreciate you giving us a shot.

Whatever you did, I get it. The truth is, last season wasn't good enough. Not even close. I was, and continue to be, embarrassed by last year’s experience.  

We heard you. We saw your emails. We read your Reddit comments (yes... all of them).

And I never want to live through a season like that again. Remember, I’m not just the owner of the company, I’m a player. I was in 25 leagues on GuillotineLeagues.com and commish of half of them. So when I say I got texts, I’m telling you. I got texts. I get it. 

And I was determined … never again. So here’s what I did. 

First, as you know, we refunded every single paying user, whether they had an issue or not. And kept all the prize pools intact. 

Then, and this process started in the middle of last season, I systematically changed everything about the product, and hired a team of engineers with experience working on products like FanDuel, Draftkings, Yahoo, Bleacher Report, MLB.tv, etc.

And they fully rebuilt it.

Not patched it. Not slapped a fresh coat of paint on it. 

We rebuilt the website. We rebuilt the app. We rebuilt the draft room. We rebuilt the entire foundation that everything runs on. And work on it today and every single day moving forward.

The Not-Just-Improved, but BRAND NEW 2026 version of Guillotine Leagues is live today.

The site is faster. The app is completely rebuilt. Draft room is great with all the news, rankings and analysis you need when you’re on the clock. Bid Groups are back. Commissioners have a lot more control and there’s more options available. And we've got more improvements, including Dark Mode, enhanced live scoring, and our new waiver system, rolling out in the coming weeks.

And we have a very long road map of improvements and features and new ways to play.

Because let’s be honest. There’s a lot more competitors in the space. And every single one of them is bigger than us with a much larger budget, and you know, had a better year than us last season. So our only chance is to keep grinding on the product and make it the very best place to play Guillotine Leagues. 

I'm not asking anyone to forget last year. But I am here asking you to judge us on this year. 

And here’s what I’m gonna do to try and convince you to try at least one league with us this year. 

Paid leagues, once again, have no fee. That means 100% of your entry fee goes into the prize pool.

Now, I gotta be honest, I don’t know that I can do that forever. At some point I have to pay people. But for now, all paid leagues have no fee. 

And also, I’m announcing an 18-person HATER league. 

Look, it’s one thing for me to say all this stuff. I own the company, right? Every parent thinks their kid is beautiful, even if it isn’t. So let’s put it to the ultimate test. 

I am looking for 17 haters to play in a league with me on GuillotineLeagues.com. 

We will do the draft LIVE, over Zoom. So you’ll know I’m in the league with you and you’ll be able to yell and question me and say whatever you want to me during the draft. And we will create a private Signal chat for the league for all season long that’ll I’ll be in as well. So I will be available and accountable. 

But, the catch is, I want the 17 people in the league to be the people in this subreddit and on r/fantasyfootball that HATED us and me the MOST last season. The ones who said “F You Berry” and “Never Again” and “Anywhere but GuillotineLeagues.com” and “Seriously Berry, F You.”

I’m doing all this because I still believe what I said when Fantasy Life acquired Guillotine Leagues: it's the most fun way to play fantasy football.
I've played this game for a long, long time. And Guillotine genuinely makes every Sunday feel different. Every point matters. Every waiver run matters. You're never comfortable. You're just trying to survive another week.

If you've been waiting to come back, I really hope you'll give us another shot.

And if you've never played before... I think you're in for a pretty fun season.

Hi, I'm a Guillotine Commish for past three years. The concept is awesome, but I always get pushback on the single-elimination starting in Week 1.

So it got me to thinking:

What if for Weeks 1-4, no one gets eliminated, but the 4 lowest total cumulative points through Week 4 ALL get eliminated at the end of that week?

Means no Free Agents of any real consequence (other than maybe a few backups from injured starters), and then a flood of FA's for Week 5.

To me, this feel like a really neat mod. Wondering that the fantasyfootbal-o-sphere thinks about it?????

Each year I commish 7-8 paid guillotine leagues on Sleeper with varying formats/twists. Been doing these for a few years and I have some openings for anyone interested. All of these are slow drafts that start in the next week or two. Here’s the league names that still have openings, along with a brief description:

Stayin’ Alive (15/20 paid) - $40 standard guillotine except 20 teams (2 weeks have a double chop)

Game of Thrones (11/18 paid) - $40 double elimination. Each week the two lowest teams are sent to trial by combat. They face each other in a 1v1 duel the following week and the lower scoring of the 2 teams is eliminated.

Redemption Island (7/18 paid) - $40 double elimination. Similar to the GoT league except if you’re the lowest scoring team you must win duels against the other teams that score lowest and are sent to your island. Win 3 duels and you’re back in the game.

Guillotine World Cup (22/32 paid) - $30 league with 32 teams! You’re placed in groups of 4 where you will square off round robin against the other teams over the course of a 3 week stretch (exactly the same as the World Cup). Dont finish last in your group and you get to move on to the next round. This process repeats and steepens as we progress through the season.
