Mission Idea: Battlezone-esque Arcade Mode?

(Foreword: I am referring to the original Atari Battlezone and not the Activision Battlezone from 1998)

I thought of this idea because apparently a special version of the arcade game was commissioned to train Bradley crews so I wondered how neat it would be if this game had a similar arcade mode where you survive as long as possible in a vehicle of your choice?

Of course, I understand such a mode might take away the serious, tense war-is-hell vive that this game is aiming for (though there is the "Rally" mission that lets you turn on the radio for Russian Hardbass).

Somehow fluked this shot, kinda annoyed it didn't blow it up.

Somehow managed to shoot a round down the hostile T-55's barrel from 1,800 metres.

Mouse not working in Menu - Settings - Input

I just updated to latest patch. My mouse works in the main menu until I get to the Settings > Input > Adjust Controls screen. Once that option opens, mouse can't click on anything. ESC is the only key that will bring me back to Main Menu. I can use arrow keys, TAB and ENTER to make selections, but nothing on the mouse. In game, mouse is being recognized either.

Mouse is a Corsair M65 RGP Ultra. I provided the player.log to their GitHub forum.. haven't heard a thing back.

Any thoughts, caused it worked fine before the update. I even uninstalled and reinstalled, removed any saved games and configs... same crap happens.

Soviet ATGM is a fucking menace (Which is very realistic representation of cold war era tank battle. I'm noob.)

Is spalling in the game?

I haven't seen spalling damage (i.e., bits of armour breaking off on the inside of the tank from the shockwave caused by a non-piercing hit and ricocheting around) in any of the battle-damage AARs. Is it in the game yet? If not, is it planned?

Generally speaking it could happen with any shell, and this is why most armoured vehicles now have a liner made of e.g., Kevlar on the inside of their steel armour to try to damp down such fragments. From what I've been able to find, these liners were introduced in the early-mid 1980's and so some of the vehicles fielded by the US army (and W. German?) could have had them by 1985, though this would require more research to substantiate - the only tank I'm relatively sure had it in 1985 was the British Chieftain. I've also read of M1 Abrams crews wearing ballistic vests because there was no anti-spall liner but that that M2 Bradley had one - doubtless people on here who know more about this than me can say more on this.

Spalling was particularly a factor with HESH ammo (such as the 120mm HESH shells pictured) that were used by British and Canadian tanks (including the Canadian version of the Leopard 1 which used the British 105mm rifled gun) during the period, where the main damage against armoured targets is caused not by armour-penetration but instead by spalling. Since Canadian forces at CFB Lahr were supposed to reinforce the US/German forces, theoretically these could have turned up at Fulda (though their main mission was in US VII Corps area further south).'

I'm starting to finally get the hang of this tank stuff. Have a low effort meme from me as a celebration.

Turns out while the M60 can get lucky when it comes to glancing 105mm shots, the human cranium, even with a helmet, cannot.

Catastrophic ammo detonation

Super duper satisfying to just get those random pops sometimes

This game is so brutal

Just love this shot (not even sure it was one of mine) where a 105mm sabot round has gone through the drive-sprocket (?) of an already-turret-tossed-T-72 and continued on to demilitarise another T-72 through the side-armour, and *THEN* continued out through the other side of that T-72. Pretty sure if there was a T-55 on the other side of that T-72, it would have been whacked as well.

It still needs a lot of work, but there's nothing quite like this.

Please Bring back the non-binocular zoom

The reason is because the zoom is necessary to more closely capture human visual acuity.

A major issue in video games is that they do poor justice to human vision. No computer screen that exists on the market today comes anywhere even remotely close to modeling human vision in any graphics engine. Human visual acuity is significantly higher than even gaming on the best 4k display. But that being said, the monitors most people are using are going to be even worse. Human vision is superior in terms of the scale of objects, contrast sensitivity, etc.

Many in sim communities balk at any kind of mechanism in a game that they perceive irrationally to be unrealistic because they automatically view it as artificial. What everyone in these discussion forgets is that the game environment is on every level artificial out of the gate. Attempting to mimic real life on a one to one basis while always and inevitably lead to a less realistic final product. In order to correct for the essentially artificial substrate that every game exists on, additional artificial aides are a requirement.

I propose that something like the ARMA zoom being put into the game, allowing the player to zoom to about 50 degrees or so FoV. This will result in a less acuity than one will get with magnified optics such as binoculars, so this does not invalidate their use by making them redundant. The zoom function would serve to provide a instant intermediate zoom that better represents to the player what human vision would tactically be able to see.

At the very least this should be a optional feature.

Game HUD

So i recently bought ghpc and i really like it a lot, and for more immersion i usually hide the HUD (left ctrl+f1), but whenever i do this i cannot manage the quick menu (Q button) so i can never change the platoon formation or ammo and if i wanna access it again i need to re-enable the HUD, is there any way i can hide the HUD without hiding the quick menu too?

Can't seem to fire with night sights on the T80?

Hello!
I bought GHPC about a week ago and i've been adoring it, although I have noticed that like
sometimes whenever i turn on my night sights with the T80B it just... stops firing like after 5-10 shots?

Like the gun's loaded, I've lased the enemy, the sight is on them but it just doesn't fire.
It turns black for a moment and it just doesn't fire. If i turn it off and then fire, it works, but if i turn the night sight back on it refuses to fire again.

I don't know if this is a known bug or not but I figured I might as well ask.

My Experience 20 hours in

If I didn't know better, I'd assume this game was meant to be some sort of anti-tank propaganda, since it sure as hell seems like that. They seem more expensive targets more than anything and certainly doesn't help that mobility kills (at least in the missions I've played) disproportionately harm a player more than the enemy.

I've looked at the multiple guides here posted on the sub prior, taking things slow and/or finding good defensive positions. I've tried those well enough, problem is there seems to fundamentally be no good defensive position that doesn't also overwhelmingly cripple your sight picture as well. Hull down approaches? Doesn't matter even a T-55 will get you before you can even be warned of it approaching in anything short of an M1P. Full concealment? You're now blind as a bat and even if your commander can see something, you're incapable of bringing the gun to bear because climbing out will expose you and/or leave you at so abysmal a gun angle good luck shooting. And god help you if its an average day in Germany and it's raining. Because none of those problems seem to burden the AI.

The 2 things that have worked, oddly enough are the ones that are as far away from what I assume was intended from a tank sim-lite as possible. Either I fail the mission enough times to memorize where everyone is coming from and then deliberately hug the edges of the map before trundling up from behind as they all suddenly are rendered thunderstruck and incapable of the pinpoint accuracy with little to no warning you have to deal with otherwise, or just use all your fire support systems more than your main gun. Referring back to my first paragraph, if the preferred way to win a fight against tanks is to basically use everything *except* the tank, something has gone wrong.

This isn't even a gunnery issue, on the range I can hit targets quite reliably, the worst it gets is when every so often one tank takes 3 shots to shut down. The problem arises when you're shot at fatally before you can even see the target.

With fragility like this, I'm surprised people still use tanks at all when IFVs are cheaper, and can carry just as much if not more a punch (though admittedly with less magazine depth) with ATGMs, then skedaddle if need be. There's no point to the armored boxes if they die to one easy shot all the less unless you're saved by providence.
