A Court of Forgotten Melody
This title sparked a little theory in me for Gwyn.
We know her singing voice, along with the songs, during the Priestess dusk service is what helped Nesta find the harp.
Could Sarah take inspiration from The Little Mermaid and take Gwyn's voice for a bit during the book? How could you see this playing out?
Gwynriel Week Was Blessed by the Mother Herself
Months of Silence….and THIS Happens During our Week?
Y’all, I’m going to boast about this one because WE HAVE EARNED IT. 😂
We got the book release dates all the way back in March and then nothing. Months of it. No official titles. No covers. Nothing. Well except for our Valkyrie promotional event, which ended up being what we all thought. REAL promotion for the coming books: The Valkyrie cycle. 🩷
And then Gwynriel Week rolls around and suddenly we get the official titles AND covers AND blurbs?!??
There is no way this was not meticulously planned by Sjm herself. These covers were in TIME SQUARE. That’s something that takes incredible strategy from her marketing team.
Here we are, the Gwynriel girlies spending this time celebrating our ship (have we not been fed SO WELL?! I’m giddy over it) and mommy Sjm said:
“Oh, you’re having fun? Here. Have some official book titles and covers, too. While I wear my ombré blue friendship bracelet.”
I’m sorry, but this is an INSANE Gwynriel Week victory!! 😭💖🎶💖
I know every other ship would be absolutely insufferable if the timing had gone their way. So yea…
THIS IS OURS AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE. CHEERS! 🥂
The Valkyrie by Wagner - how a specific ship is spinning the facts
I keep seeing Elriels talking about how Wagner's opera clearly shows Elriels endgame. So naturally, I went ahead and read about the opera composition. My surprise or not so surprise, how they've completely spun the narrative to make themselves believe it's about Elriel.
THEIR TWISTED NARRATIVE and I quote "Two lovers are kept apart because the woman is stuck in an unhappy marriage, and the gods have forbidden them from being together. They try to escape together, but a Valkyrie finds them and tells them they cannot defy the gods. Things end with the husband and lover fighting over her, with a legendary sword caught in the middle."
THE ACTUAL OPERA:
- The wife is married to a brutal husband.
- The wife falls in love and flees with her long-lost fugitive twin brother.
- The husband challenges the twin brother to a death duel.
- A Valkyrie is sent by her father, to protect the twin brother.
- Fricka (the Goddess of Marriage) wants the protection retracted because the lover-siblings have committed incest and adultery.
- The Valkyrie still goes to protect the twin brother but he still ends up dying. She then flees with the wife, who is now pregnant.
- Due to her defiance, the Valkyrie is put into a magical sleep, a deadly fire around her, and can only be saved by a brave hero.

MY THOUGHTS: I wasn’t planning to theorise the opera at all or how it could potentially connect to the plot (outside of the fact that I think it’s obvious the Valkyrie cycle is about our girls….). Well, after reading and summarising it, I don’t see this being about Elriel at all, in fact if anything, its giving Elucien. Elain has been associated with sleeping beauty. I truly see Valkyrie cycle as women empowerment. ALL women, including Elain, Freya, Nesta, Gwyn, Emerie, Mor - they will all be Valkyries but in their own way. It doesn’t mean Elain will suddenly fight, but she will definitely step into her power. Also, them spinning the story as Gwyn being an evil Valkyrie trying to separate the lovers, is not surprising but still revolting.
Edit: I'm realising my post sounds more about Elucien than Gwynriel due to my analyses. But Gwynriel is my top ship. The Valkyries seems to evoke a double meaning in the fandom (Valkyries as in our girls, and Valkyries as in the opera). In anyway, I just wanted to share my analyses and call out twisted narrative that I keep seeing.
Fans threatened sjm's family?
I read somewhere on a post that some of the acotars fans are the reason sjm's irl bff had to move states, that the fans went after her CHILDREN, and that they threatened her family?! What the hell?! Is this fake or genuine cuz if it is then gosh people need to get lives
What do you think the catalyst will be for the reveal of Gwyn's powers?
I have several theories but they are based on what her powers end up being and where the plot is going...
If she has Day/Autumn powers it could end up with her being around Lucien or Eris.
If she is Starborne like many (including myself, believe) then it will be when she gets around Gwydion.
OR if it ends up being a part of the matebond reveal then Azriel gets hurt and her powers kinda explode out? (or maybe a "power of friendship" reveal and they lash out to protect Nesta/Emerie)
What's your guess?
I really want this scene between Gwynriel in a future book
I would really like a scene or multiple in ACOSH or ACOFM where Gwyn and Az sing a duet together. We know he sings and we know that she sings beautifully.
Imagine her asking, begging, him to sing for her and she is in awe and then slowly joins in and it is pure magic!
Gwynriel Sticker
Hey everybody! I designed a Gwynriel sticker and I was wondering if it’s cute?? I think so! I tried to capture like musicy patterns and Azriel’s shadows +their colors but idk…I like it!
Gwynriel Weeks Prompt #6 - Song of the Mother MEGATHREAD
Gwyn and Azriel share more than reverence for the Mother, they hear a melody meant only for them. While a Mother-blessed mating bond hasn't been confirmed, the subtle notes of their connection hint that they are meant for each other. Imagine music flowing through their souls, weaving them together in ways only fated mates can hear.

Valkyries and magic swords ⚔️
After the titles for ACOTAR 6 and 7 were announced, I found myself missing the Valkyries and started re-reading ACOSF.
A scene in Chapter 42 caught my eye: when Amren talks about magical swords, she mentions Narben and says a water nymph (!!!!) told her Amarantha had thrown the sword into the sea... Now we have a Valkyrie who is half-water nymph, has a mysterious family history, and possesses mysterious powers!!!!
I think Gwyn is going to find Narbem and maybe even become its new owner!
And after the ending of CC3, Nesta has two magical swords, a third one is lost at sea... Could there be three magic swords for the three reborn Valkyries? ⚔️
Gwyn’s connection to a "Forgotten Melody"
This is a hear me out. In the scene where the priestesses sing that leads Nesta to scrying for the Harp. Well the build up almost seems like a "forgotten melody" and who's at the centre singing these "forgotten melodies" in this scene....
>“It sounds heavenly,” Nesta admitted.
“It is.” Gwyn smiled again, eyes lighting with pride. “Some of the songs you’ll hear are so ancient they predate the written word. Some of them are so old we didn’t even have them in Sangravah. Clotho found them in books shelved below Level Seven. Hana—she’ll be the one who plays the lute—figured out how to read the music.”
>Nesta could only gape at the lovely melody, the voices from the front of the cavern leading it, lifting higher than the others. Gwyn sang, chin high, a faint glow seeming to radiate from her.
The music was pure, ancient, by turns whispering and bold, one moment like a tendril of mist, the next like a gilded ray of light.
>She’d never heard such music. Like a spell, a dream given form. The entire room sang, each voice resonating through the stone.
But Gwyn’s voice rose above them all, clear and powerful and yet husky on some notes...
>Nesta could have sworn that beneath the hem of Gwyn’s robe, the priestess’s foot was doing the same. The words and the countermelodies danced around and around, until the walls hummed with the music, until the stone seemed to be singing it back.
>Something beckoned in Gwyn’s song, in a way the others’ hadn’t. Like Gwyn was calling only to her, her voice full of sunshine and joy and unshakable determination. Nesta had never heard a voice like Gwyn’s—by turns trained and wild, as if there was so much sound fighting to break free of Gwyn that she couldn’t quite contain it all. As if the sound needed to be loose in the world.
> Gwyn’s voice rose again, holding such a high note it was like a ray of pure light, piercing and summoning.
>The music took form behind Nesta’s eyes as the priestesses sang lyrics in languages so old, no one voiced them anymore.
She is literally the person explaining that these songs are so old that they existed before written history.
And then she becomes the voice that rises above all the others....hmmmm
I’m not saying Gwyn is the forgotten melody. I just think it’s interesting that she’s directly connected to one of the clearest examples of a “forgotten melody” in the books.
The songs are ancient, from languages no one speaks anymore, and Gwyn is the one whose voice stands out the most.
So I’m not saying Gwyn = the forgotten melody etc. Just pointing out the connection between her and this very literal example of one.
The Valkyrie Saga started with Gwyn
The Valkyrie storyline really starts with Gwyn as its epicentre in the narrative...
>"Yes, thank the Cauldron. She’s writing a comprehensive history of the Valkyries.” -Gwyn
“The who?” - Nesta
>Gwyn lifted trembling fingers to her brow, touching the ribbon with which Nesta had crowned her.
Nesta’s voice was thick as she declared, “Valkyrie.”
>Gwyn’s fingers slid into hers, squeezing tight. Nesta looked up to find her holding Emerie’s free hand as well. Gwyn smiled again, her eyes bright. “Our stories are worth telling.”
So people are still trying to argue around the fact that Gwyn won’t be part of the Valkyrie Cycle...
I’ll absolutely give credit to Nesta for reforging the Valkyries. But Gwyn was the one who first mentioned them and their histories and practices, initiated the ceremony to be declared a Valkyrie, and even foreshadowed the future narrative with “Our stories are worth telling.”
The groundwork for Gwyn being part of this story is already there. I mean the Valkyries so far are those three girls.
And I like that I don’t have to analyse the colour of emoji hearts for validation. We have actual textual proof from SJM herself. It’s the VALKYRIE cycle, and who was in the bonus chapter that SJM specifically said had breadcrumbs?
Like, obviously I’m even more confident in Gwynriel, but I’m also really looking forward to Gwyn being at the forefront of the Valkyrie storyline. Like the Valkyrie Saga is pretty definitive about the narrative it will follow
But I can't wait to see the Valkyrie saga play out. I love those three so much
VALKYRIES!!!!!!
ITS REAL HOLY !!!!! OMG GWYN EMERIE AND NESTA COME HOME
Gwynriel Easter eggs?
Ok, this is mostly clowning, BUT IS IT? 😅
So, Bloomsbury posted some photos of the books on their IG channel, and the books are surrounded by a glowing ribbon/thread, meanwhile the background has shadows, but also... a BAT WING?
Thoughts? 🤭🎶💖🦇
Guys, Is this ragebait??
Like, I don't usually like to argue about these things on social media. But lemme calm down.
First of all, based on the blurbs, I thought it was very obvious the next books will be multi pov. That the books will have a lot of epic fantasy themes with like the romance being more of a subplot. Like of course Elain will get a storyline, she's connected to Lucien, who's connected to vassa, who's connected to Koschei, she'll defintely have her own growth to do about self acceptance and all that. And since like neither of us are Sarah J Maas, can't we all just trust her writing process???
I feel like stuff like this really ruin things for the fandom. Like what do you mean????
Anyways. Thanks for listening y'all😁
In honor of the Valkyries
When SJM mentioned she listened to a lot of “Kpop demon hunters” when writing the next ACOTAR books, it immediately made me think of this song and the Valkyries. I cannot believe they are coming back!💙🩷⚔️

“The Valkyrie cycle”
For people trying to spin that the Valkyrie cycle has nothing to do with our girls are going to be really disappointed 🤍
Don’t know how I didn’t notice this but look what emoji had been used on Bloomsbury post promoting the series!
