Gym etiquette

Am I the jerk? I waited about 10 or 15 minutes for a female to finish with the machine while she texted and took selfies much more than she worked out. When she finished, I went over to the machine, wiped it down because she didn’t, got fully set up when she came and tapped me on the shoulder. She said, excuse me, but my friend was waiting to use the machine after me. I responded with well where is she. The girl looked around and said I don’t know, but she’ll be back soon. My response was well. I’m here now and you really shouldn’t be “saving machines“for other people. Obviously, she was annoyed and walked away. Should I have given up the machine and waited for somebody to show up or not to use it? Is saving equipment at the gym good etiquette?

AIO - I fell at the gym

So today was my first day back in the gym in I don’t know how long. I go to get on the treadmill and I take a treadmill to the knee. I hadn’t even turned it on yet 😭. Treadmill was empty, no one around only my boyfriend on the one next to me. So I step on it to you know … turn it on. Welp sucks to say I missed the part where the belt was moving. My boyfriend told me I should’ve been paying more attention. Is it just me or does anyone like make sure the treadmill is off on an empty treadmill before stepping on it?

FITNESS FIRST DISAPPOINTMENT

Story Time – June 27, 2026

Yesterday, June 26, my friend and I booked a 1-day free trial at Fitness First Bonifacio High Street. We were excited to try the gym before deciding where to purchase a membership.

At first, everything went smoothly. Ms. Aya and Sir Dowee accommodated us well, gave us a tour of the facilities, and explained the gym’s amenities. After the tour, we were allowed to work out, and overall, we had a good experience using the gym.

However, things changed after we finished our workout.

We were invited to sit down to discuss their membership offers. They presented what they said was a “today only” promo, where the joining fee and admin fees would be waived if we signed up immediately. We appreciated the offer, but we politely explained that we wanted to explore other gyms first before making a decision. As customers, we believe it’s only reasonable to compare our options before committing to a membership. After all, it’s our money and our decision.

Unfortunately, despite repeatedly telling them that we needed time to think, they continued insisting that we sign up on the spot. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was that they were still holding onto our IDs. We ended up sitting there for almost 30 minutes, repeatedly declining the offer while waiting for our IDs to be returned. It honestly felt like we couldn’t leave until we agreed to become members.

No customer should ever feel pressured into making a financial commitment they are not yet ready to make. A free trial should help potential members decide—not make them feel trapped or pressured.

To Ms. Aya and Sir Nino, I hope this serves as constructive feedback. Please treat your prospective clients with respect and allow them the time and space to make their own decisions. If someone says they need to think about it, that decision should be respected. Pushing people to sign up after they’ve already declined creates an uncomfortable experience and leaves a negative impression.

This was disappointing, especially for first-time gym-goers like us. We genuinely wanted to enjoy the experience, but we left feeling pressured instead of welcomed.

Gym creep resolution

Fellas I need some advice. My girl who is a lot younger than this creep has been followed by a man all around the gym including sauna and pool. The man knows her and her friends age yet he still persists. He doesn’t directly make contact however he has done before but like today, he went into an empty sauna and sat directly next to the girls and was man spreading. I’m not in the gym the same time as my girl but she tells me. I don’t know what to suggest or do but i need help and suggestions. As a boyfriend and a man i want to take initiative to resolve this situation but i need advice.

Training with man-child at the gym

Did squats with these two guys today. They had to lower the weight after a woman finished her set. Then watched them fight for their life on 40kg leg press. What a waste of testosterone!
Come here lil man child. Hide under my hijab for I shall protect you. The world is too dangerous for u
