One thing I think people mix up a lot is lyrical ability with actually winning a beef. They’re related ofc but they’re not the same thing.

A diss track isn’t a technical showcase. Its main job is to land with people. You need memorable angles, quotables, replay value and a clear narrative that even casual listeners can follow. If your audience has to pause every second bar to unpack a reference, you’ve probably lost some of the impact already.

That’s why Emiway keeping his disses simple during Emiway vs Raftaar beef back in 2018 wasn’t a weakness (and a proof of his loss like many in this sub love to claim). Nearly a decade later people still remember huge chunks of those tracks word for word. That ain’t no accident, Emi’s disses were direct, easy to repeat and got the message across.

You can absolutely argue that Raftaar had denser writing and more technical bars. That’s a fair take and I would mostly agree with you, but technical superiority on its own has never automatically meant victory in a rap beef. Public perception decides that, not a rhyme scheme scorecard.

People often judge diss tracks like they’re normal songs. They’re not. The objective is persuasion first, lyricism second. Sometimes the simpler message ends up being the more effective one, even if it isn’t the more complex one.

Just noticed something interesting. The track on Emiway’s EP is Kyu? with a question mark, while the one on Swaalina’s EP is just Kyu. If that’s intentional then it’s a pretty cool concept. Emi’s track asks why? and Swaalina’s potentially answers it. Simple idea but kinda clever imo.

I am decorating my work area and wanted such an artwork of EM to make a frame and apply on my wall but was unable to get any. If anyone has something please share it in the comments in good quality.
