Why is the AEMS Macro/Micro so late?

June 30th was the end of Q2, which Holosun said was going to be the quarter this year when the AEMS Micro and Macro were to release. 6/30 came and went and now the website has updated to Q3. This is unacceptable. Why is it so late?

Normal Parallax or Defect?

Parallax comparison: https://imgur.com/a/k3XkFqK

I've always been a bit disappointed with the parallax, especially vertically, in my EPS Carry 6moa Green. It's definitely worse than my 407k was. I thought maybe it was just the best that could be done with a small enclosed optic, but I recently got an off-brand enclosed RMSc dot (Fortic EP1 6moa red) and its parallax is barely perceptible at 25 yards.

This video doesn't do justice to the clarity of either dot, but this should be enough to observe the relative parallax as seen at 25 yards with pistol completely stationary and camera moving to look through different portions of lens. Target is printed on 8.5×11 paper and there is a solid 4" (at 25 yards) of dot movement relative to target depending on eye position. Sorry, I know it's a little hard to pick out the red dot of the Fortic against the orange bullseye.

I've been trying to really dial in the precision of my pistol and I feel this is holding me back despite trying to keep the dot toward the middle.

Is this just the best Holosun can do on the EPS Carry; or does it look like I have a defective unit?

Does this look like a defective unit?

This line above the reticle persists with the reticle off, with the front lens cap on. Their CS rep is trying to say it looks like lighting, but it seems a little too consistent across multiple lighting conditions to be situational. Anybody else had this in a new one? ARO-MDS-GD

AEMS-EVO - Reflections - Let's talk about it.

Over the last few days, I've seen several photos shared of the AEMS EVO showing reflections, reticle bloom, and other optical artifacts. I thought it would be helpful to explain why photos often don't represent what the optic looks like during normal use.

The appearance of a red dot in a photograph can change dramatically depending on several factors, including:

  • Camera angle
  • Reticle position within the viewing window
  • Camera exposure and focus
  • Brightness setting
  • Ambient lighting

Even small changes in any of these variables can make the reticle or internal reflections appear significantly different than what your eye sees.

Below are a few examples taken through the same optic.

AEMS-EVO-RD

Max Brightness Setting 8 - reticle centered & in the top of the window.

Brightness Setting 6 - reticle centered & in the top of the window.

Brightness Setting 5 - reticle centered & in the top of the window.

To my eyes, Brightness Setting 5 was more than adequate for the indoor environment where these photos were taken. Increasing brightness beyond what the environment requires can make the reticle appear larger, increase bloom, and make reflections that are normally subtle much more noticeable in photographs.

The most meaningful way to evaluate any optic is:

  • Mounted on a firearm
  • Aimed at an actual target
  • Looking through the optic from a normal shooting position
  • With the reticle centered in the viewing window
  • Using a brightness setting appropriate for the ambient lighting

Photos taken from off-axis angles or with the brightness set much higher than necessary can exaggerate reflections, tint, bloom, and other optical characteristics that are far less noticeable during normal shooting.

This doesn't mean every optic is perfect, and if someone believes they have a defective unit, we absolutely want to inspect it. That's the purpose of the RMA process: to determine whether there's a genuine manufacturing issue, identify any trends through serial number tracking, and repair or replace affected units when necessary.

The goal of this post isn't to dismiss anyone's concerns. It's simply to provide some context on why photographs alone can sometimes paint a very different picture than what the shooter actually experiences behind the optic.

AEMS EVO, Holosun pulling a SIG

Claiming user error. I added more daytime shots with regular brightness settings to show this is STILL occurring. Its easier to see with naked eye than camera but it still shows up on camera. Posted their response to my RMA as well.

I'll update this depending on how they proceed. But more than likely going to look at a different option.

And Another One - AEMS EVO GOLD

I just got this, and I have just found this subreddit, so it appears this is a known issue.

But it appears that this only happens when I have the back/rear - glass protector, up.

Meaning If I remove/pull down the rear glass protector the issue resolves itself.

The problem dissapers at lower brightness, but I can literally see:

- The main Dot/reticle
- A second ghost reticle
- the reflection of the ?LED? thats emitting the reticle in the glass.

Its 10pm at night over here, thus no daytime footage.

Does anyone have a good AEMS EVO in the wild?

The AEMS EVO curse struck me too lads. Comparing it with my X2 pro in gold, there is a night and say difference in QC. Seeing the number of issues here, I will NOT be bothering with an RMA. I reached out to CS,and the response was generic and pointed to user error. As if this is my only optic and i don’t understand eye relief, placement, brightness, viewing angle. I don’t think the new shooters will spend $500 on an optic when Vortex Triumph and Optic Planet Coupons exist. Disappointed indeed; i was frustrated receiving that from CS, especially when they know this is an ON GOING ISSUE. I can’t believe we keep giving Holosun our money when this is the quality they output.

Disclosure: I tried to capture only some of the issues. Mainly the biggest is the nasty halo effects on most brightness levels. The first reflection photo is purposefully taken at high brightness so i can convey what I am seeing in lower settings with the naked eye. Capturing optic issues on camera is difficult and i tried my best, taking photos of the reticle from the perspective of the optimal shooting position while the optic is mounted on an AR, is tricky and I feel that’s what Holosun is banking on when they point at your fault trying to show the problems via photos. My X2 Pro does not suffer from similar issues, even when brightness is cranked up to higher settings. I admit, on max brightness setting, indoor without direct sunlight, any modern optic will produce distortion but the halo on all brightness levels, the reflections, such strong emitter glow spilling at the bottom 6 o’clock position is unacceptable.

Weirdly enough,to the best of my knowledge I have not seen a good EVO unit in the wild. 2 of my buddies got theirs in green and suffer from the same issues. One is straight up returning his and one is going the RMA route. Will post an update from him. I would love to see someone who is an actual consumer, not an influencer or Youtuber who has received a good EVO unit without all the plethora of problems everyone is facing.

Last photo is just to show that I am comparing to my X2 Pro so it’s Holosun VS Holosun. If this is the quality to are being told to accept. Might as well just hand over their market to Osight R at this point, why even compete?

EPS Carry

Just bought this yesterday from a reputable second hand, but realized that the logo is upside down. The guy couldn’t get used to the red dot or had issues zeroing on an x macro, but everything looks fine aside from this. Anything thoughts? Maybe a QC issue?

Holosun AEMS EVO glare issue

Huge Holosun fan but this is a major miss with the new AEMS EVO. Holy cow this is bad. I tried it outdoors also and that glare is insane. For a 400 buck optic i'm not satisfied at all.

AEMS Micro and EPS Core Deck Heights

I know the optics have not been released yet, but anyone know the deck height of the new optics. I'm ordering a European gun and it only comes with an RMS-C plate with BUIS.

  1. EPS Core Deck Height
  2. AEMS Micro Deck Height
  3. AEMS Micro w/ OEM RMSc Adapter Deck Height

Am I being nitpicky?

Is this a bad seal on this EPS carry I just bought or is it normal to have a messy seal on one side?

Aems evo emitter glare

So this is apparently the case with just about most of these - is this a design flaw? How does a company release a batch of their latest and greatest with such an insanely cringe issue?

It seems on any brightness above the minimal there’s a ring and a massive glare / ghosting

AEMS pro x2 vs romeo 8t amr vs romeo 4xt pro vs anything else that is better because I'm replacing my eotech 518.

I'm wanting a new optic for my 11.5 bcm raider and will pair it with a unity 4x magnifier because I already have it. If I got the 8t amr I'd probably eventually buy the juliet magnifier, because all that sounds cool. I had my mind already made up and was going to buy a aems but I've read some people are having issues with them after two years of use. I like the big windows. I like my 518 but I hate it doesn't have shake awake and the battery life or should I just keep it and put it on a unity fast mount?

AEMS EVO emitter reflection - RMA timeline?

Received my AEMS-EVO-GD and it's also exhibiting the bad emitter reflections on all brightness levels except the lowest one.

What is the Holosun RMA timeline to get a replacement? I'm in need of an optic for my new build and was looking forward to this one. If it really takes 20 days like they are saying on the website I'll just return it and get another T2 I guess. SMH.

AEMS EVO Issue

Is the issue that's being posted a lot on here lately happening on all AEMS EVO units? Does anyone have a unit that does not have this issue? Does anyone have experience with the AEMS-X2-PRO and is it an issue on that unit? I'm debating on getting an AEMS-X2-PRO or an AEMS-EVO at the moment. Thanks in advance

More AEMS EVO cooking

Not just a reflection but a straight nasty Halo. I can take starbursting effect at high brightness. Not this Halo shit.
