Are 4–6 month systems still realistic, or is 2–3 months the new normal?

I’ve seen a lot of mixed opinions on this lately.

Some say a good system should still last 4–6 months if you take care of it. Others say even “premium” systems are starting to thin, dry out, or shed badly after 2–3 months.

For people who’ve been wearing systems for a while: has your expected lifespan changed over the last couple years?

What are you actually getting now, and what do you think is fair for the price?

Would be useful to know base type, density, how often you wash/style it, and whether you do daily wear or long bonds.

Do I need special shampoo to wash a hair system, or can I just use regular everyday hair shampoo?

I’ve worn hair systems for 5–6 years and know the difference between synthetic and human hair types very well. Just not sure about the shampoo part.

Is regular shampoo damaging for synthetic hair systems in the long run? And can human hair systems be washed with normal shampoo just like real hair?

Looking for experienced opinions, thanks!

Client's photo before and after wearing a hair system

A buyer just got this on. And I’m trying to judge the hairline honestly. Compared to how the head looked freshly shaved, I think it looks pretty real overall, but I’m wondering if the front could be a bit more graduated/less dense.

Am I overthinking it, or does the hairline need some tweaking? By the way, how do factories make hairlines look real? I thought the hairline pretty much has things to do with how the hairpiece artisian is trained.
