TL;DR: Want to play campaign and online modes with my xbox bros, what PC version should I get?

Hello everyone. As the title says I'm planning on continuing my Halo campaign playthrough this month as I still have a couple of them that I've never played before.

I recently got a new laptop with 3 "free" gamepass months included but apparently that version of GP doesn't include MCC so, what's the best version of MCC that I can get on PC if I want to play with friends that have it on their Xbox? (Campaigns and online modes). Steam, Microsoft Store or directly on the Xbox App?

I'd normally just get the steam version but I quickly looked it up and apparently getting it on the Microsoft Store specifically got you more crossplay options? but I dunno if that still applies or if that got patched/ fixed/ whatever so I'd rather ask the community for updated info.

Consistent gamer since January. Only on FFA socials. Noticing how more and more difficult it is to match make on social, even on a 100M XP account that’s nowhere near the XP amount of long-timers who’ve been on for 5+, 10+ years.

Since it’s easy to block players via Xbox to never match make, is this simply because too many players are just blocking due to cheating, or skill set? I know I’ve had to pull this because cheating’s gotten a bit out of hand, but there’s still a decent amount of legitimate gamers on MCC but I’ll never match make them again?

Anyone experiencing this?

Halo mcc is better

This feels like a sin, its my first time playing through a Halo game on a mouse and keyboard. I didn't buy another one when my last Xbox packed in and I really got the urge to play Halo 2 so I picked up the MCC on PC and I've been loving the nostalgia but playing it this way feels degradation worthy

One thing that bothers me in MCC, specifically in Halo 2 Anniversary, is a game settings. In 4v4 CTF, when you get a flag pull, there is no sudden death for pulling the flag like there was in previous Halo games. I felt like this makes the game more exciting when it goes to sudden death when the flag is pulled, but the timer then runs out.

I was playing a fun game with my friend, and the match was a very close one, and we almost had the winning flag cap when the timer ran out. 343 should add sudden death in Halo MCC. Anyone agrees with me or what are your thoughts on having sudden death in CTF for Halo.

Anyone want to play co-op campaign, firefight or queue together in Halo MCC? I'm on PC, so to play the older campaigns we have to have the same platform.

I've played campaign and firefight solo or local co-op for years, so I'm not great at multiplayer, but the enthusiasm is there. Looking for something more casual in feel, normal difficulty initially but I'm happy to play higher difficulties with more practice.

I'm MST timezone, could play at least once a week for a few hours during the afternoon and evening. Please reply below or send me a message if this sounds like something you'd enjoy.

I want some peeps to run with and chill, none of my friends have MCC and I know it’d be fun with a party. I’m on Steam!

Do ANY of the modes in the competitive ever get results???? Ive been trying all of them for hours to no avail… Trying to clear some challenges

Posting this to bring awareness to people about potential security issues happening in Halo MCC as well as hopefully get some eyes from Halo Studios on it as well.

Long story short recently I decided to stop larping halo. I had always considered myself a fan but honestly the only ones I had ever played were Halo5 and Halo Infinite (only multiplayer for Infinite). I had always heard about halo all my life and had always had an xbox so when my parents bought me an xbox one they also got me Halo 5. Even back then I thought Chief being in only a few missions was weird but that’s a story for another time.

Anywho I finally got the MCC and was like fck it let’s actually play these games I’ve claimed to like and it’s honestly been amazing. I finished CE yesterday and it was great. Amazing even. Don’t worry I played on og graphics. Even before I realized that was considered the right way to play it i just thought og looked better. And even a couple times during my play through i kept thinking “dang this game looks so good! i must be on anniversary graphics,” only to switch and realize id been on og graphics the whole time! the art direction of CE is breathtaking. everything feels tangible but also ancient and grandiose.

My biggest complaint is that the level design does start to feel a bit samey towards the back half of the game. I didn’t mind too much because I was having fun but it’s something I definitely noticed. Probably just a product of being a 25 year old game lol. I will say this game kicked my ass and I was playing on normal. The covenant is cool and the flood is terrifying. It’s all so good.

Fun side story, after putting keyes out of his misery i put it on anniversary graphics to see how gross he would look (the extra faces were a nice touch) when the flood came out to attack. i jumped off the back of the little platform and saw this glowing red thing. i went over to it and completely by accident discovered the keyes terminal. it gave me goosebumps. watching him try to fight the influence of the flood was tragic. finding the other terminals is the only reason i’d replay CE with anniversary graphics.

I give Halo: Combat Evolved a 9/10!!

Tried using the AlphaRing mod but that seems to be out of date. Anyone know of a current method to use splitscreen on Steam Deck?
