imagine getting infinite gravemind hugs

like imagine slowly losing yourself to the flood, as you lose the last remains of yourself the gravemind comforts you while it prepares for your end and to endlessly torture your soul, as you are almost fully gone you briefly feel your body and mind as one with the flood before you finally go out

I love the story campaigns. Ive been a fan of Halo from the og Halo:CE for original xbox.

Over the years ive analyzed the story from H1 and its clear that the Halo intallations are not only there as a failsafe in case the flood got out but some form of isolated container for the existing flood.

Apparently this isnt the first outbreak, at least according to 343s off hand comment to the Chief about "you asked me last time..."

So I have to wonder are the flood a native species the Forerunners took out of its natural environment to use as a weapon? Or did they create the flood? If created, are they a biological warfare weapon that got out of control?
