Beyond Har Ki Pauri & Moti Bazaar: Looking for hidden, crowd-free spots and traveler meetups in Haridwar 🌲🧘♂️
Hey everyone, Haridwar ke logon and fellow travelers! I’ve visited Haridwar multiple times now, including a recent quick side-trip to Dehradun before heading back here. While I absolutely love the classic experience—visiting the main temples, sitting by the Ganga ghats, and hitting up the incredible street food spots, I realized I always end up getting stuck in the exact same geographic loop of Upper Road, Moti Bazaar, and the heavy crowd around Har Ki Pauri 🙃🙃, The spiritual energy is beautiful, but it can get overwhelming, and I feel like I'm missing out on the deeper, quieter side of the city.
Because of this, I want to break out of the usual tourist circuit and find some hidden, crowd-free spots. I am looking for recommendations on lesser-known, peaceful areas within or just on the outskirts of Haridwar where one can actually sit quietly by the river or under some nature canopy without constant foot traffic. Whether it is an isolated ghat further upstream, a quiet nature trail, or a serene, lesser-visited ashram that welcomes reflective visitors, I would love to know where to find some literal and mental breathing space.
Additionally, I am trying to figure out where like-minded travelers, professionals, or locals hang out to connect. Are there any specific cafes, alternative community spaces, or backpacker spots in or around the city where people actually sit down to have an intelligent conversation, share travel stories, or just chill out, rather than just passing through as hurried pilgrims?
If anyone is currently in town and wants to grab a tea, talk about travel or tech, or explore a quieter side of Haridwar together, feel free to hit me up.
Drop your suggestions below, I would really appreciate your insight on how to experience Haridwar beyond the standard itinerary!
Where my fellow redditors are?
So I'm finally back in my hometown and fully ready to socialise and meet new people. I remember talking to a few people about meetups with my another account but now I've lost their accounts. So yeah hmu if you're ready to hangout.
We can go play pickleball or maybe try some food spots

Haridwar mein bhi ek fun aur professional remote work culture build kar sakte hain?
I have been working remotely in Haridwar for almost the last 1 year and honestly, most of this year has been spent inside a dark room with a pretty lonely vibe.
Since college, I have always enjoyed meeting new people, exchanging ideas, socialising, and being around interesting minds. But somewhere in professional life, especially after switching to remote work, that part slowly faded away. And now I genuinely feel maybe I should have continued it somehow.
The routine became too repetitive:
Open laptop, work for hours, stay locked in the room… and then in the evening just roam around outside watching people and thinking,
“Kaash Haridwar mein bhi koi aisi community hoti jahan remote workers, freelancers, developers, startup people ya working professionals ek saath baith ke coworking-type environment mein kaam kar pate.”
So I thought, why not try building a small community myself for mindful and professional people who might be going through the same phase and want to be part of a healthy, productive, and social environment.
Honestly, this past year has made me a bit quiet and kind of introverted too. 😅
So not really sure how this will turn out, but I still want to give it a try with your support.
The plan is:
• Peacefully apna kaam kar sakein
• Free time mein socialize bhi ho
• Naye aur interesting logo se milna bhi jae
• Productive discussions/share sessions (if we get volunteers, of course 😜)
• And maybe reduce that lonely remote-work feeling a little
I want to make this professional and fun at the same time, so maintaining professional boundaries and avoiding unnecessary small talk will be a top priority.
Initially planning to start with a small group of around 5–10 people, and duration bhi thoda short rakhn ki koshish karunga.
Also, I’m completely open to suggestions.
• Cafe-style setup ya proper coworking vibe?
• Weekdays ya weekends?
• Silent workspace or collaborative environment? I know haridwar me thoda struggle hoga ye to arrange this setup, but I will try my best.
• Any ideas to make this better?
If you are someone working remotely in Haridwar and feel the same somewhere, feel free to comment or DM. 🙌

Haridwar & Rishikesh locals acting weird about UPI payments… just me?
Spent 5 days in Haridwar and Rishikesh, and surprisingly a lot of rickshaw drivers and shopkeepers were refusing UPI payments. Some were also pretty rude while dealing with tourists. I didn’t expect this at all honestly. Has anyone else faced the same recently?
Illegal encroachment & Delhi-like dust Pollution in Jagjeetpur
Anyone from Jagjeetpur, kab sudhrenge yha ke halaat?
Anyone up for jogging?
I go for jogging 4 times a week mostly at the track on highway, looking for a running partner, any and all pace is fine with me, it gets boring to jog alone, i am willing to switch to BHEL if someone lives there.
P.S. ik it sounds like a job posting or idk too formal or anything but im just tired of jogging alone, let me know if someone is down for it.
