He-Man 2021 Appreciation Post

It released same year as Revelations to for a more family friendly version to a balance things out...and was overshadowed by it. Even Netflix themselves seemed to forget about it...👀. I'm not sure how many He-Man fans even knew it was happening to try it.

So this one's for it!

While I'm not a fan of some of the designs, MCU humor, and some story choices (I didn't mind making Ram-Man a girl, but I DID mind having her turn sorta-evil and flip-flop), it was mainly enjoyable with good animation, action scenes, trying to give the characters & world more depth is always appreciated, and actually got better as went.

What did those of you who actually knew about it or discovered it think? 🤔

Upset with the fans and with movie goers in general

I'm furious with moviegoers right now.

Masters of the Universe is a great film, and after more than 30 years, we finally have a new movie based on this iconic franchise. Yet people just aren't showing up to see it in theaters. Why?

It's fun for the whole family, has a strong story, memorable characters, and positive themes. So what is going on? Why are audiences ignoring it?

I'm equally frustrated about Mortal Kombat II underperforming, as well as The Mandalorian & Grogu. Why is sci-fi and fantasy struggling so much these days?

These are some of the most recognizable franchises in entertainment, with fanbases that are supposed to be massive. If even these properties can't find major success, what does that say about the state of moviegoing?

Seriously, can someone explain it to me? Because I don't get it. These are beloved series with decades of history behind them, yet audiences seem increasingly unwilling to support them in theaters. It's incredibly frustrating, and honestly, I'm tired of seeing franchises I care about struggle while people complain that Hollywood never makes anything they want to watch.

Why is this happening? I'm genuinely asking, because I'm baffled—and yes, pretty angry about it.

I Expected a Marvel Clone: Masters of The Universe Exceeded This By a Long Shot

Masters of the Universe is a surprisingly fun and self-aware adventure that embraces the campy spirit of the original cartoon. Blending Guardians of the Galaxy-style humor with solid action, strong performances, and impressive CGI, the film delivers laughs, heart, and nostalgia in equal measure. Director Travis Knight crafts an entertaining crowd-pleaser that leaves plenty of room for future adventures.

Do not buy any merchandise from these scalpers. Or if you do, do not pay more than the retail price plus shipping.

I hate the new He-Man movie and the way Hollywood seems over ran by hipsters that think you can't like anything unless it is ironic.

I don't know if I can post this here, but I don't know where else to post it so here goes. The new movie is terrible, and I don't mean just bad, I am talking about I would rather do Irish river dance on lego with rusty thumbtacks sprinkled in than ever go see it again.

It is the kind of just pure awful why were these people allowed to make this? Kind of movie that honestly caused my head to hurt. Seriously, the entire movie feels like two hours of some hipster all but mugging to the camera and going "See guys! See! This has always been cheesy and bad, and you should feel dumb and bad for ever liking it!" Seriously, every joke fell flat for me I didn't so much as chuckle, let alone laugh in fact it was worse. I have gone through a good chunk of my life without saying the phrase "God damn it." Just a personal thing, I don't really use any version of it. The movie was so actively fucking bad that I found myself at multiple points groaning in pure exasperation and saying out loud in the theater, "Oh God damn it, are you fucking serious?"

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING in this movie comes across as genuine, every last fucking shred and second of it comes across as spiteful fucks that hated the fact they had a sibling that thought it was cool and so now are trying to do everything they can to shit on it. The script is mostly nothing but the absolute worst kind of fucking Marvel humor every serious moment is instantly cut off at the fucking knees by some cringe out of my skin shitty joke that doesn't belong there, and I am almost a thousand percent sure that the hack writers on this got most of their knowledge about He-Man and Skeletor from those over played, terrible fucking "hur hur He-Man strong guy must be gay." Memes that largely died off a decade ago!

And then after two hours of this, two hours of trying to be you over the head with how terrible and awful and dumb the whole IP is...the movie almost snaps itself in half like a jet trying to do a hard turn at mach seven to be like "No guys, we swear it is actually cool, please give us money and come see the She-Ra movie we are teasing!", NO, no you disingenous fucking hack of a movie, you didn't earn it, you actively made me want to make sure no one I know ever sees anything from this movie or related to this movie and have actively made me not want to see anything from the people that made it.

The movie is not doing well in its opening weekend and I blame Kevin Smith

The She-Ha Netflix cartoon was a success among girls and managed to revive interest in the brand and brought in new fans. After that, you'd think they'd do the same for He-Man. After all, they need to keep the brand culturally relevant, as there was literally no mainstream MotU media for 20 years. Kevin Smith was given that opportunity and people were hyped when they announced Revelation. But he pissed on it, taunted the fans, spread toxicity and attracted 0 new fans.

I HAVE THE POWER

This morning, our dear Charles Zembillas posted on his Twitter an artwork of Crash Bandicoot dressed as He-Man. I was amazed and decided to make my own version.

By the way, I'm the same person who drew all the Crash characters (u/Comfortable-Plum-506), i lost the acces to that account. I'm clarifying this so there can't be any confusion. And that drawing is almost finished.

In your opinion should Evil-Lynn be redeemable or no?

Personal opinion, I think she's perfectly fine without an evil backstory or redeemable quality. Evil is in her name, after all. I feel like it's very tropey to redeem female villains. Evil-Lynn is a character I prefer on the Wicked side, honestly, always considering double-crossing Skeletor.

"Evil-Lynn, what do you want?"

"Your power, Skeletor!!" *cue evil laugh*

I need this Rotten tomatoes score to get back up there

It went from 75% yesterday to 67% today? That's bullshit. These critics are purposely waiting to post their hate reviews to keep the score low. They can suck it. I say boycott Rotten Tomatoes!

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 2002 HD UPSCALE

With all the anticipation and excitement surrounding the new Masters of the Universe movie, I thought I’d revisit the 2002 animated series. I assumed there would already be a Blu-ray release or some kind of HD upscale available online, but I couldn’t find one anywhere. So I decided to upscale it myself.

Using Topaz Video AI with the Gaia model, I think it turned out pretty well, and I just wanted to share it. Watching the series in this quality really does improve the viewing experience.

To download season 1 for free, please head over to my Reddit profile, click on my YouTube channel, go to my latest video and you'll find the download link in the description.

Hope you enjoy!
