Mezco Hellboy Movie figure ID

I’d been putting off collecting the Mezco movie line of figures and focusing more on the comic versions and other brands but I picked this up today at a local shop since the price was right. Choice was between this and one of the horned one for roughly the same price so I went with the sword and filed down horns. I’d seen bootlegs of this line on Ali express forever but when I looked up this particular one I can only see a few on eBay that are selling or sold for way more than I picked it up for. I had every intention of opening it up but if it’s a rarer variant I guess I might just display it as is. Anyone know anything about this?

Seed of Destruction Facsimile

So I love HB just as much as the next guy but why is the 1:25 variant of the Facsimile being sold for so high? I see it on eBay going for $80+ and there’s even a listing for $200+. I was lucky enough to get one from my LCS but am I missing something? I just got it because it’s recent Mignola art.

Clean repaint

I pulled him apart for a quick and easy repaint. I'm not much of an artist and I wanted to lose that terrible black wash, highlight the details and let the awesome sculpt do the talking for this figure. The legs need another coat of matte varnish, but for the red on this guy, I think simple is the way to go for me. This was so much fun, I may buy another and do a dramatic block shading version too.

Would i be allowed to do a short comic panel study with the style of Mike Mignola and focusing on a character of his that i love and want more answers?

Not canon ofcourse… just a fan project of learning from the master him self, but built from the real Liz Sherman themes:

childhood accident, guilt, Catholic fear,
B.P.R.D. containment,
wanting the power gone and discovering the fire is not only a curse, it is also keeping her alive.

The title would be something like
The Firestarter
The Warm Guilt
The Fragile Flame

The idea for for the short comic panels

When Liz puts her finger into the homunculus, her fire is pulled out of her body. In the real world, it happens in a flash.
Inside her mind, it feels like she wakes in a ruined church under the earth.
She has only a tiny flame in her hand. Not enough to fight. Just enough to see.
And something huge is waiting in the dark.
Not a monster from outside.
Her fire, wearing the shape of every person she thinks she killed. Her past is here, hot with rage and fumes.

Hayden Sherman Confirmed Hellboy Was An Influence For Absolute Wonder Woman

Okay so not the biggest Hellboy news but a few weeks ago I went to HeroesCon. I’ve been meaning to post this for a while but ADHD lol. While there, I got to meet Hayden Sherman who is the main artist on Absolute Wonder Woman.

Now in case you aren’t aware, Absolute Wonder Woman is part of the DC Absolute universe. A new universe that Darkseid created & meddled with the heroes lives. Absolute Batman isn’t rich but more middle class as he was childhood friends with his rogues. Absolute Superman came to Earth at 18 meaning he grew up seeing & living on Krypton & only got to know the Kent’s for 3 months. Absolute Flash is a teenage Wally West in a world where Barry & Jay weren’t Flash meaning Wally has no mentor.

Absolute Wonder Woman meanwhile didn’t grow up on Themysica. Apollo took her to the Wild Isle of Hell where Circe was alone imprisoned. In main universe, Circe is one of her major villains. This was due to Zeus of course punishing the Amazons. So instead of raised on Paradise, she was raised in Hell by an adopted parent where she eventually goes to Earth becoming a hero. She still has the compassion & love main universe Diana has but she is a bit more witch than warrior if that makes sense.

Okay so backstory established. One of the main reasons I have been loving Absolute Wonder Woman a lot is because it has a very Hellboy feel to it without feeling forced. I would say so far, this is my favorite depiction of Wonder Woman ever. So as a big Hellboy fan, when I met Hayden I told how big of a fan I am of Absolute Wonder Woman & I was wondering if Hellboy was a major influence on the book given the similarities. They told me that yea when they started the book with Kelly Thompson that Hellboy was an inspiration for this version of Wonder Woman as Hayden & Kelly are huge fans of Big Red.

I also jokingly asked if we could see a crossover with this Diana & Hellboy & Hayden said that they love to draw Hellboy meeting Diana.

As someone who got into Hellboy from the Del Toro films & read the comics as well as being a major DC fan, it’s just so cool getting that confirmation that Hellboy of all things is an inspiration in the creation & stories of Absolute Wonder Woman. I do love the ridiculousness of Absolute Batman but I say that Absolute Martian Manhunter & Absolute Wonder Woman are the 2 best Absolute books (Batman is third & still great!). If you are a Hellboy fan, I couldn’t recommend this book enough.

Finally going to dive into it

Got this today, I've been stalling on buying it due to the prices I'd seen it listed for it but when I saw it this morning for the low low price of £45.56p on Bezos' Bargain Basement Bazaar (in case any of my fellow Brits are in the same boat I was) I couldn't resist, much to my fiancées chagrin... it looks and feels very well made from the quick flick through I've had and the box art is gorgeous imo.

This will probably be my next about a months wortn of reading for me, so plenty of time to save up for some of the spin-off series I guess 😅

Hellboy in Hell, library edition question.

Anybody know of a shop this is in stock? I've just ordered Vol 1-6 of the library editions but can't find Hellboy in Hell. UK based.
