In a place where the sun never sets and the barley never needs reaping, Hermione waits for him.

Prompt was AU - what if Hermione was there to meet Harry after the Forbidden Forest, instead of Dumbledore?

Another short Out of the Ordinary fest fic.

After Dumbledore’s funeral, Hermione watches Harry break Ginny’s heart and is left with the question of whether she ever had the courage to let him break hers. Written for the Harmony Out of the Ordinary fest 2026.

4 year old Briallen Potter saw her daddy lying in bed with an ice pack on his head. She knew, even with her limited experience, that daddy was sick. Briallen decided right then and there that she was going to heal her daddy!

She clambered to her feet and toddled down the hallway to her playroom where her favorite toys were. She lifted the lid to her toychest and rummaged around until she located her favorite stuffed animal (an otter) and her baggie of Legos, plus a couple of brightly colored books from her shelves. As a last-minute addition, she pulled her blanket from the bed and carried her collection back to where her daddy was.

Harry lay in bed feeling like garbage. He had a temperature of 101° (F) and a headache. Hermione was busy in the kitchen and he distantly wondered where their daughter was. He felt Briallen’s tiny hand tugging on his covers and looked down to see her worried face. He noted the stuff in her arms. “Whatcha got there, Munchkin?”

“It for you cuz you sick,” she replied as she pushed her collection into his hands then scampered off again.

When she returned, Harry spotted her ever-so-carefully carrying a plastic cup in both hands; the contents occasionally sloshing around and making her pause. Bringing up the rear was a amusedly smiling Hermione whose face broke into a wide grin at the sight of him surrounded by Briallen’s toys.

Briallen proud at being able to carry the cup all the way from the kitchen without spilling a drop, handed over the cup of juice and ‘ordered’ her daddy, “You get better now.”

Harry obediently took the cup and drank it down and handed it back. “Thank you, Healer Potter. I will get better now thanks to you.”

"Why Harry?" Hermione complained to her misbehaving boyfriend after walking into the infirmary after the latest Quidditch match against Slytherin where Harry lay in 'his' bed with multiple injuries. "What is it with you and dangerous stunts?"

Harry grinned sheepishly, "Well, you know how most people have a little angel/devil combo sitting on their shoulders telling them what to do. In my case, I have a caffeine-fueled badger with a flamethrower on one side and a psychotic squirrel armed with a can of pepper spray on the other. I just can't help the ideas they come up with."

Hermione rolled her eyes and stormed out muttering how she was going to research safety and first aid charms seeing as how likely and often they'd be needed.

Chapter Summary: In the first year of James Sirius Fredrick Potter’s life, Hermione has stayed away from England. Staying in daily contact with her best friend by phone and text has merely sustained her until Harry has enough and buys her a plane ticket home. One week back home, she starts questioning everything. Where was home at this point? In Australia with her parents? Or in her native land with Harry, James, and all their friends?

But guess what? If Dumbledore cared so much, then why didn't he train Harry for the battle? At least many more people would still be alive.

Then let's look at the real meaning of 'for the greater good' and where it came from. It originally came from Grindelwald. If you've ever watched Fantastic Beasts, you know this. Okay, I agree Dumbledore told Harry he had to stay with the Dursleys, but after his first year, why didn't Dumbledore advise Harry to buy a magical suitcase like Newt Scamander's? At least Harry would have been able to save himself from the Dursleys, and there would be no need to worry about the Blood Wards.

Here is a pattern that stretches from Newt Scamander to Harry: Newt Scamander was expelled from Hogwarts because of Leta Lestrange, but Dumbledore saved him so he could at least keep his wand. Then, in the second Fantastic Beasts movie, he told Newt to look for his phoenix. Here, playing on sympathy worked. Then comes Hagrid. Then comes Snape. Then Harry, and even Remus—everyone sees Dumbledore as a good figure because he capitalizes on their need for sympathy.

Now, regarding the Deathly Hallows, we know that you can conquer death if you become the Master of Death, and the great Dumbledore knew all about it. The great Dumbledore—who defeated Grindelwald, discovered the 12 uses of dragon's blood, and figured out how to end a blood pact—somehow couldn't solve the matter of the Horcruxes or train Harry?

Just a little reminder: Dumbledore suggested the Fidelius Charm. He knew about James and Sirius's loyalty. He even knew that if Sirius were truly a villain, he could have easily killed Harry that night; yet Sirius gave Harry (and his flying bike) to Hagrid safely. Still, Dumbledore couldn't even get him a trial.

I am writing a fanfic. Hermione just gave birth. They're 15. She's wearing diapers now cause she's bleeding and the first thing I think is regarding Ron (this as a non bashing fanfic but realistic), the first thought that comes to me is: Ron wouldn't made fun unless they're all in a cheery mode but he'd def say something stupid, ignorant and hurtful about it. Not ill intended but still.

So I was asking myself. Why are Romiones so fixed in Ron defending her? Then I realized that Ron is pretty good and reactive when someone is mean to her and keeps her safe from others, but he doesn't keep her safe from himself. He's the only one allowed to be cruel and hurtful.

Any thoughts? Ron is a hard character for me to write cause I don't want to turn him into a caricature

edit: Like they're NOT wrong, he defends her and that's all they see but ignore compeltey how he's always trying to step on her.

The Harmony of this is that the fic is a harmony, Harry is the father. And I don't want to post this in a Romione place or Ron place cause they might get too angry. And Harry is there taking her of her and her healing body, he's feeling like he doesn't know how to help and he feels guilty even when he's trying really hard.

What if the Trace normally put on a wand sold to the incoming firsties wasn't used to track them but to slowly alter their perception of Albus into believing him to be the next coming of Merlin?

Those in Slytherin are usually trained in the Mind Arts from a young age though, so the first time they start feeling positive towards him; they're able recognize the attempt and report it to their parents.

Our intrepid duo discover this secret during fourth year after Harry starts having doubts after the disastrous Champion Selection Ceremony when Hermione notices a strange haze encompassing his wand...

Harry was cackling at the haughty expression on Hermione's face. This itself wasn't unusual; she had a knack for turning his moodiness into hilarity. "You know what would make this funnier? Write an article and publish it in Potioneering Monthly. Snape obviously subscribes to it so it'll be funny when he gets that issue just to see if it cracks that stone-faced mug of his."

Hermione sniffed primly while slowly shaking her head in amusement, "You are strange, weird little boy, Harry Potter. If Professor Snape does do anything, he'd be more likely to assign me detention and deduct points. If you want to play that joke so badly, you publish the article."

Neville joined them on the couch, "What's so funny?"

Thumbing over to his girlfriend, Harry explained that she'd come up with an improved recipe for polyjuice. "It even tastes good."

Eyeing the pair, Neville asked her for the recipe. "I'm curious as to what's in it. Doesn't sugar make it useless?"

Reaching for her notebook, Hermione patiently explained that what Neville was thinking of was Wolfsbane. "Here we go...Tropical Caribbean Punch."

As she read off the instructions, Neville groaned when he got the joke, "Now I got it; the juice from five fruits make it 'poly-juice..." He playfully slugged a laughing Harry on the shoulder for dragging him into this latest batch of lunacy. "You guys need to get outside more often."
