any advice for quick work or a solution for my situation?

hey folks,

my family and me are from Tennessee. we've been living on the road, out of the car, since early January. wife, our two year old and me.

we've been through Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and now NC. we've been surviving off Instacart since we realized that the further away from Memphis we got, the better the pay was getting.

it's been a decent time. the 2yo genuinely loves being on the road. we know it's unorthodox but given how much he loves the outdoors, he's been very happy. we check out parks in nearly every city we go to. wife and me enjoy the freedom and lack of responsibilities like rent and utilities. we were in a bad living situation before this and this has been much better, despite the current heat.

unfortunately, my car has had a seized engine for about a month and a half now. pretty sure the locals are sick of us, given how many cop interactions we've had. they're worried for our kid's welfare, which I totally understand. but we gotta get out of this before they try to take him or some shit. we can't prove that he has everything he needs in the car.

we've been trying to save by doing curbside pick ups for Instacart at the Publix but that shit is low paying and not at all ideal.

so does anyone have any leads on some work I can get, maybe labor or something, that I can walk to and preferably get paid under the table so we can get a new engine asap? alternatively, does anyone know of any assistance we can go through?

if you're gonna be judgemental, please keep it to yourself. we're just out of towners in need of some advice.

thank you

Apartments that aren’t serviced by Duke Energy?

Due to unforeseen circumstances I need to move out of my mom’s house by June 10th. Energy bill has been in my name and I have been solely responsible for paying it. due to me only working part time in my last semester of college and having to tend to other bills, I have racked up a balance on my duke energy bill of about 1.7k. disconnect notice states that I need to pay 1.5k to avoid the disconnection. I just started my post grad full-time job and get paid the 30th and technically would have enough to pay it but since I need to be out by the 10th i thought about just using my check to move instead. ik some areas of hp aren’t serviced by duke energy and was wondering if anyone knew of any apartment communities in said areas that i can look into?

Ziggy's / Cohab Space

Anyone know if the Ziggy's location at Cohab Space is still operating? I don't see any shows listed on their website for that location. I've had such a good time there over the last couple years and it would be a shame to see it inactive

*UPDATED FLYER* - GREENSBORO, NC - MAY 16TH - JOIN US FOR A NATIONAL RALLY FOR VOTING RIGHTS!

ALL HANDS ON DECK: A NATIONAL RALLY FOR VOTING RIGHTS

They fought for this. They bled for this. And now, piece by piece, it's being taken away. Let's show up in solidarity with our brethren in Selma!

The right to vote was never freely given — it was demanded, marched for, legislated in blood. Today, that legislation is being gutted in statehouses across this country. Voter rolls are being purged. Polling places are vanishing. ID requirements are being weaponized. And silence is not an option.

This is a call to every organizer, every congregation, every young person who has never seen a march but always knew one might be necessary. This is the moment.

New times demand new tactics — economic pressure, digital organizing, culture, faith, and mass presence on the ground. But what doesn't change is this: when people show up, things shift.

We are not going back. We are going further. The Fight Isn't Over. It's Just Getting Started. Register on Mobilize for the most up-to-date info: https://mobilize.us/s/yRqdi0

WEEKLY ON TUESDAYS! TUESDAYS WITH TILLIS PROTEST IN FRONT OF HIS GREENSBORO OFFICE UNTIL THE BITTER END!

Please come join us! Let Tillis know we are watching. We are listening. We see how he is voting. He and his colleagues have abdicated their Congressional authority. They did not vote to reign in the president with the War Powers Resolution. Prices are skyrocketing and ordinary Americans are suffering.

Please come bring your signs, friends, and YOUR VOICE! Miss this one? No worries! We will meet until the bitter end and he is out of office! #TuesdayswithTillis

Anyone need fresh catnip?

I planted a bit of catnip last year in honor of a much loved kitty who passed and it is a BUSH this year. I knew that would happen, but I only have one cat now and he can only enjoy so much 'nip.

Does anyone have cats who would like some? At risk of this seeming like some kind of Cat Lady drug deal, I really do want to just give sprigs away to anyone who wants some. 😅
