The Informed Citizen: Modern Media Ecosystems and the Health of Democracy!

We are hosting the Hometown Holler and Dylan Rhoney from Cardinal and Pine at our July Meetup!

Join us for The Informed Citizen: Modern Media Ecosystems and the Health of Democracy!

You won't want to miss this one! We are focusing on the new media landscape! We have some awesome guests, including Daniel and Quinn from the Hometown Holler and Dylan Rhoney from Cardinal and Pine!

Local newspapers are vanishing, news deserts are spreading, and less than 20% of North Carolinians regularly consume local news. So where do we go from here?

Join two of the state's most innovative independent media voices for a frank conversation about today's media ecosystem — what's broken, what's working, and how you can make a real difference. It's not all doom and gloom - you'll leave with a clear picture of the landscape and concrete actions you can take immediately.

Come curious. Leave activated.

Hello HP

Hi everyone. I'm hoping this community might be able to point me in the right direction

I'm a woman, 21, who recently graduated with my bachelor's degree in Psychology. Right now, I'm looking for full-time work that will help me support myself.

One of my biggest challenges is that I don't have a car at the moment and primarily rely on public transportation. Because of that, I'm looking for opportunities in or around Greensboro, High Point, or Winston-Salem that are reasonably accessible by bus or other public transit.

I'm open to a variety of roles, especially ones involving:

  • Office or administrative work
  • Higher education or student support
  • Youth services or mentoring
  • Behavioral or mental health
  • Nonprofits and community organizations
  • Case management, care coordination, intake, or human services
  • Family support or advocacy
  • Entry-level positions where a psychology degree is valued

I know the job market is tough right now, and sometimes opportunities come from simply knowing the right people. So I figured I'd ask.

I really need some guidance on what to do.

Selling my fossil collection

Hello all! I posted about a month ago, but just wanted to put it out there again that I’m selling off a good chunk of my fossil collection. I have a wide variety of things such as megalodon teeth, t-rex, mammoth, bugs in amber, trilobites, triceratops and much more. If anyone is interested in seeing some pics please let me know. Thanks!

Democracy in the Balance - A look at what's in the Republicans' 36 page election bill

Wonder why many North Carolinians are so up in arms about this bill - HB 958? Here are just a few of the highlights. Or low lights. Take a look at the slides. #6 is just another way to strip power from our State AG.

Remember, too, that Sarah Stevens, former NC Rep and current candidate for the NC Supreme Court (who lied recently about her affiliation with a KNOWN child sex offender) is one of the PRIMARY SPONSORS OF THIS BILL. She does not belong anywhere NEAR our court! We must re-elect Justice Anita Earls back to her seat on our NC Supreme Court in November 2026!
