We will be doing the full PR1 trail in two weeks. I am worried about the difficulty. I am in my late 20s and not super fit but also not terribly out of shape. I plan to do some leg strengthening workouts before we leave. Will the hike be doable for me?

We want to do the hike at noon, we cannot find any information on how to get back to the parking after completing the hike. Every transfer found online is only for the sunset hike. Does anyone know how to get back to the carpark after completing the trial?

So I would like to thru-hike the island around mid september doing so camping.
I’ve understood the passes for the trails and the camping permits are done under the same ticket that you book with the simplifico site.
However, even when using a VPN set to Portugal the site won’t load, any experience or suggestions with this matter?
Also any other logistical tips you might have would be highly appreciated.

Hey everyone! Just a quick question regarding car rental. I’m heading to Madeira next week, and I still haven’t decided which car to rent for driving through the narrow streets there. I’m torn between a Fiat 500X and the standard Fiat 500. Which one would you recommend? I’d really appreciate your advice!

Hey does anyone have 2 tickets for pr1 tomorrow anywehere from 10am to 1pm ? I’m ready to pay a lot for them ! Because we had tickets for today at 10am but mygf was feeling really bad so we said we’ll do it another day and now it is sold out…

So, that is the question.

There are some slots starting at 10AM in my date range (and on my last day at 7:30 AM but it's risky if the weather is bad, and I really do not want to skip it), and I'm worried how crowded it is? Can the crowd ruin the hike experience for me, or is it just some people here and there around on the trail?

And would you reccomend PR1.2 in this case, is it less crowded?

My friends and I are visiting next week and would like to do the Stairway to Heaven part of PR1 only.

I have a few questions:

1. I understand I need to book the PR1 | Vereda do Areeiro até ao Miradouro da Pedra Rija trail, is that correct?
2. We have heard it’s best to go at around sunset time, but I’m curious whether anyone would recommend sunrise instead?
3. The sunset will be after 9pm, but the last bookable route mentioned in point 1 is 5pm. Should we just book it for 5pm and show up later?
4. If going at sunset, presumably you need torches to walk back down in the dark?
