I’ve been trying to track down a few genuine replacement parts for a Holden Cruze and it’s been a bit of a struggle. The main thing I’m stuck on is small but annoying parts like window regulators and a specific ECU sensor that doesn’t seem to pop up anywhere reliable. I can find aftermarket versions, but getting anything genuine that actually fits properly feels like a bit of a hunt these days. How are you actually managing to source the harder to find stuff without ending up stuck waiting endlessly or settling for parts that don’t quite feel right?
Might be a fairly stupid question. But... can you replace lifters, rockers push rods without taking the heads off? Is there enough room if you just take the valve covers off?

What rims should i get on my 2017 VF SV6 Wagon, its white and i like the look of Holden rims and they won’t break the bank either. Maybe the gloss black redline rims? look pretty tough or should i go a silver rim? The pic is the VF redline rims btw
Hi guys,
I have a 2018 Holden Astra 1.4L hatch, auto, 85,000km with a damaged piston skirt and cylinder 1 comp test showed 120 with cylinder 2-4 at 215, so pretty much need a new engine.
Got quoted $3k for a used engine, $1.5-2k labour so total $5k - car is probably worth around $12-13k.
Some advice/any options you think might be better?
Option 1 - get engine replaced and then continue to drive as per normal?
Option 2 - my dad has a 2017 1.4L Astra hatch, 55k on the clock, manual and currently driving this - I could buy this off him?
Option 3 - the most priciest option but buy a second hand Toyota Corolla, Mazda?
The mechanic said that these engines due to Australia’s conditions must have 98 premium fuel. Would this really make much of a difference moving forward?
Thanks in advance.
Rate these 1 to 10, probably the best photo I have ever taken
I reckon the first picture has to be one of the best pics of a commodore ever taken.
I was thinking about getting rims (not sure what would look good), SSL front SSSL rear and an X-force exhaust but I’m not sure if these will look good if anyone could give some opinions/ideas it would be greatly appreciated
Hey guys, just looking for a bit of advice on this ticking noise coming from the driver's side in the engine.
It's not my car it's from a test drive of one I've been looking at.
For any of those who were curious about the outcome of my last post. Yes the car was written off and yes it was repairable. I was paid out 19k for the vehicle and the repairs were quoted to about 15k. I am fine with it being written off as the repairs shop was booked out until January and I wouldn’t have gotten it back until March 2027.
Hey Im not sure if this it aloud but I have a 2005 Holden VZ Berlina with a 3.6 Leo alloytech and for the last 6 months I've been trying to troubleshoot it. It first started with a injector 3 circuit malfunction which I was told to replace the Injectors which I did with genuine Bosch injectors but it didn't work I swapped them around and it stayed in cylinder 3 then I sent the BCM pim ecu and key to get a new one programmed which I got back yesterday I put it in and it started really ruff but went to normal so I drove it and it felt normal so I came back and I went out and came back to take it out again but it started weird again but I still went and it stalled about 5 times so I parked it and plugged a scanner in it and I got this code (U0001-00AN 02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 sensor 2 so I checked under the car and there doesn't seem to be any rear oxygen sensors I'm really confused and really need help
Hey guys it seems to be have a slow leak but not 100% sure what it’s called and if it’s as easy as sealing it back up or if there is another underlying issue causing it to leak.
G’day everyone.
Like most of you, I’m still not over 2017. Watching the Lion die and then seeing the Commodore name get slapped on those ZB imports was a total insult. I’ve been sitting here with my laptop and a ton of ambition, and I’ve started a project called Zeta Engineering Group to see if we can actually fix this.
The goal is a ground-up revival. A proper, rear-wheel-drive petrol sedan built here in Australia. I know, it sounds like a pipe dream and the costs are mental. But I’m trying to move past the "what if" stage and actually look at the feasibility.
I'm mainly posting because I need to tap into the knowledge in this sub. I’m not after money—I’m after your brains and your experience.
I'm mostly looking for help with a few things:
If you actually worked at the plants in Elizabeth or Fishermans Bend or if you’re just a gun mechanic who knows these cars inside and out, I want to know what you think a modern "VF Successor" should actually be. What was the soul of those cars that we can't afford to lose?
I’m also trying to figure out how to crack the corporate wall at General Motors. They’re sitting on the trademark and the history, and they’re stubborn as hell. If anyone here has experience dealing with big American companies or knows how you even start a dialogue about buying a brand back without getting laughed out of the room, I’m all ears.
Also, just for the fans, what would it actually take for you to buy an Aussie-made car again? Not a rebadged SUV, but a proper sedan. What are the "must-haves" for you to trust the name again?
And lastly, if anyone knows about the boring stuff (ADRs, safety compliance, the legal hurdles of starting a car company from scratch) I’d love to chat.
I’m keeping things a bit "stealth" for now because I don't want the plan getting messed with before it's even off the ground, but I’m serious about this. If you’ve got any tips, leads, or just want to tell me I’m dreaming, drop a comment or shoot me a DM.
Cheers.
Hi , I have a HOLDEN - Model Ve Commodore SV6
Station Wagon 2013.
Long story short, got it off a dealer, for 10k, drove it for 3 years, and one day it suddenly stopped without warning. Towed it to mechanic , was told it needs a new engine.
It has been sitting in the front yard for around 1yr now and don’t know what to do with it.
I keep getting random cards of people who went to buy it. I just don’t know much about cars, can someone maybe point me to the right direction or give me some advice on so I chuck it to the wreckers? Sell it not sure, fix it would it be worth it. I the in immaculate condition on the outside.
Sat for 16 years and now she’s back on roads 🤘🏻
Straight off the printer, there are slight blemishes but working on getting the settings dialed in.
Ill get some more photos of the first print that my brother sanded and painted.
