Anyone else have problems with the latest homepod mini software update? My homepods are taking forever to "configure" and some stopped connecting to wifi.
I have two of the more recent ones, then two of the older ones.
I don't want to buy new ones if I don't have to.
Title. And just to be sure that it isn’t related to an issue between the HomePod Mini and other devices (my Apple TV, iPhone, Watch, MacBook Pro), I did a simple dumb check once again tonight: my Apple TV being configured with navigation click turned on, I can confirm that the HomePod Mini keeps streaming the other audio sources without any issue.
It is only with Apple Music that the issue happens. Weirdly enough, when I check the Apple Music app on my other devices (let’s stick with my Apple TV for this example), it does still show music playing. And I can change tracks, stations and co. Most of the time, I have the feeling that the issue mainly happens when I play music from a Radio Station (my go-to being my Discovery Radio, my algorithm is just perfect). As soon as I try to play an isolated item (album, track), it works without any issue.
Meanwhile, when I start my fav Radio, Apple Music might randomly stop streaming music to my HomePod Mini. Right after the first track. After a few tracks. An hour. It’s so, so weird. And it only happens with the HomePod Mini. None of my other devices are encountering the issue.
I already did the restart and factory/hard reset multiple times over the years (for unrelated issues tho), it still doesn’t fix that issue. I also feel like that Apple never managed to release a single HomePod Mini update that did bring some real improvements/stability and co. And I’m not even talking about Siri, who’s the dumbest thing I have in the house.
It is getting better on all my other devices (which all have been updated to macOS/iOS/watchOS/tvOS 27), but no. Siri on my HomePod Mini still has a seriously low IQ. And I see Apple coming with their brand-new, AI-ready HomePod Mini update later this year. What’s the point of upgrading a speaker that works perfectly fine sound-wise? How is it so hard for Apple to make Siri work on this device specifically?
Anyway. My apologies for my rant of the night. If anyone has any idea of how to fix this recurring Apple Music bug, I would already be so, so happy. So, whoever can help me, thank you in advance 🙏🏻
