Need tire upgrade advice for comfort on bad roads (Honda Amaze 2020)

I drive a 2020 Honda Amaze S (base model) that currently has the stock 175/65 R14 tires and has done about 32,000 kms.

Lately, I’ve been feeling that the ride quality has become quite harsh. Bad roads, bumps, and potholes are clearly felt by the passengers inside the cabin. Because of this, I’m planning to upgrade the tires with an absolute focus on plush ride quality and maximum comfort.

Here is my usage and requirement breakdown:

  • Driving Conditions: Mostly driven in Mumbai city (lots of bad roads/potholes) with occasional highway runs.
  • Expected Usage: I’ll be driving around 20,000 kms over the next 5-6 years.
  • Longevity: I plan to keep this set of tires for about 7-8 years if they can safely last that long. High mileage/kilometer life is not a concern for me at all—comfort is the absolute utmost priority. I also don't care if the fuel efficiency drops slightly.

My Dilemma:

I am looking to upsize the tires to get a thicker sidewall to cushion the Mumbai potholes. I am currently confused between:

  1. 175/70 R14 (Keeps the same width, but increases sidewall height directly for more cushion).
  2. 185/65 R14 (Wider tire for better grip, and naturally adds a little bit of sidewall height compared to stock).

Which of these two sizes would offer the best comfort for my specific use case? Also, what rubber compound or specific tire models (Michelin, Continental, Yokohama, etc.) would you recommend for the softest, most comfortable ride?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Ceramic Coating

I recently booked a Honda Amaze ZX CVT. The dealer is offering ceramic coating, but I'm unsure if it's actually worth it.

For those who own an Amaze or have experience with ceramic coating, did you get it done? Was it worth the cost, or is it better to skip the dealer's package

Petrol Type

I have purchased Honda Amaze in March 2026, it is a petrol only car. Given the hue and cry over ethanol content in regular petrol car, what is the best petrol fuel type as an alternative for my car and how much is the price difference between regular petrol fuel.

Suggestion for Amaze

Planning to buy honda amaze cvt. Need few honest opinions-
1.Although honda cars are E20 compliant from way before, but have you guys noticed any issue with the parts? Or its just the mileage drop?

2.How can I negotiate with the dealer in much better way and get a good deal? Will buy the top model. What price range will be a good deal and what accessories should I ask for? Dealer has quoted around 11.3 on road for top

OP finally cracked the deal and took the delivery for the car.

Finally, after much back and forth with different dealers, I've taken delivery of my VX CVT! Thanks everyone for your support and suggestions! 🥳 #Delivery #Support #Suggestions

Who else facing a millage drop after E20?

Despite E20 compliant car and best option for the time being, i can see a millage drop of 20% around both in city and highways. This screenshot is for a highway driving at 40-80kmph average speed.

Does it make sense to use E0 fuel until things get settled or any tips on pumps to prefer and avoid.

Share your experience so we know how good E20 is lol

2018 Honda City (Manual Petrol) - service every 6 months really necessary?

Hi everyone,

I own a 2018 Honda City, manual petrol, and my service center recommends getting the car serviced twice a year (every 6 months), even though my yearly running isn't very high.

Total KMs in 7.5 years - 75k approx

Honestly, it feels a bit excessive and unnecessarily expensive, especially when the car is running perfectly fine.

A few questions for fellow Honda owners:

  • Do you actually service your Honda City every 6 months, or do you only follow the 10,000 km interval?
  • Has anyone faced issues by servicing only once a year if the mileage is low?
  • Does skipping the 6-month service affect reliability or is it mainly a way for dealerships to generate revenue?
  • If you use a trusted independent garage instead of Honda ASC after warranty, has your experience been good?

Would love to hear from long-term Honda City owners, especially those with 2017-2020 petrol manual models.

Thanks!

Am I the only one having issues with my one year old Amaze's motorized side mirrors

It's like they have a mind of their own and I'm at their mercy when I press the button to close them. They are really moody like a 14 year angsty teen. Sometimes they close and I thank God above. Sometimes they do a half protest and close only half way and sometimes when they feel cheeky they both close half way making me feel like I have two pranksters at home. Sigh don't recommend.

Taking delivery next week! Anyone installed an auto-dimming IRVM in a 3rd gen Honda Amaze

Hey everyone,

I’m taking delivery of my new 3rd gen Honda Amaze next week! Super excited, but I'm already planning a few essential quality-of-life upgrades right out of the gate.

One major thing I want to tackle immediately is the manual day/night inside rearview mirror (IRVM). High beams from behind are brutal on my night drives, so I want to upgrade to an auto-dimming one as soon as possible.

Has anyone here successfully done this mod on the newer Amaze

Curious to know a few things before the car arrives:

  1. Which mirror did you use? Did an OEM one from the City/Elevate fit, or did you go with an aftermarket frameless option

  2. The mount: Was it a direct slide-on fit to the factory windshield button, or did you need a specific adapter/bracket

  3. Wiring: How did you route the power? Did you use a clean fuse tap in the cabin fuse box, or something else.

Would love to get your insights so I can order the parts and be ready for a DIY or shop install once the keys are in hand.

Thanks in advance!

New Update on Amaze VX CVT mileage

Hey Everyone,
Few days back I have posted about not getting 17.5+kmpl mileage on my amaze 3gen Vx CVT but for an experiment I tried different fuel stations and checked their performance. I noticed that whenever I refill from Jio pumps I can easily clock 18-19kmpl and if I refill from other stations like Indian oil and BP then it takes conscious efforts to reach 16kmpl. Also, today I went for my second service i.e. 5k km service and after getting my car serviced I refilled it at Jio pumps and MID showed close to 21-22kmpl on 30-40km ride. However, these figures does not match distance to empty figures. Just wanted to check how reliable is MID in this case and what behaviour fellow amaze owners have observed with ‘Distance to empty’ figures.
