Hello, so im doing a story about a tragic romance between a canon character and a tribute male oc. The Hunger Games will be in the fic and I don’t want my oc to constantly think about the character but he will realize his feelings for them. So how should I go about this without being annoying about it?

I hadn’t read the books since they came out so I just read the two new ones and reread the original trilogy and I feel so numb/depressed. I LOVED Catching Fire so much more than I remembered, I want to reread that book and live in that time forever and forget Mockingjay exists. I guess I’m seeking coziness - any nice fic recs where I can just hang out with Katniss in a less hellacious time? I’m a sucker for the love triangle, romance please!! I’m pro Peeta and Gale, I loved CF when she just kind of had both of them, I couldn’t pick. Thanks in advance

So as to not break any rules, I’ll give some basic facts without revealing much: it’s in the 19th Hunger Games, it’s about Woof (who is basically just a name in the books), and these are the characters I’m struggling to depict:
Tigris
Mags
Snow (briefly, he’s a Gamemaker)
Lucky Flickerman

Whenever I try to the write scenes they’re in, I just sit back and think, ‘huh. That doesn’t sound like them.’
Any advice? Have you ever wrote on any of these characters in this era?

I've been looking for some good Peeta/Katniss fanfiction on any platform which are either

1. about Katniss and Peeta having a relationship before the games and going into the games already together
2. a full rewrite where they are truly together during the first games/Katniss reciprocates Peeta's feeling from the beginning
3. anything else similar to the last two concepts

I'm not interested in any post Mockingjay or pregnancy fics b/c that seems like the only thing I can find on my own 😓Thank you so much!!!!!
