I'm considering taking a 12 gauge out for PA black bear next year. The woods I hunt I wouldn't expect to see much past 50-60 yards. Finding ammo in stock is a bit of a challenge but please give me your insights.
The gun: mossburg 835 with either 24inch accuchoke barrel or 24inch Rifled barrel
I'm leaning towards the Brenneke but I have a couple boxes of Federal Trophy Copper tipped sabot slugs for deer, how would those fare? This is what else I could find in stock. Thank you all
Brenneke:
Bear Protection Magnum Rifled Slug grain?, 2 3/4, 1650fps
Federal:
TruBall Rifled Slug 438 grain, 2 3/4, 1600fps
TruBall Rifled Slug grain?, 2 3/4, 1300fps
TruBall Deep Penetrator Rifled Slug 438 grain, 2 3/4, 1350fps
PowerShok Rifled Slug 438 grain, 2 3/4, 1350fps
PowerShok Rifled Slug 547 grain, 3in, 1600fps
PowerShok Sabot Slug 438 grain, 2 3/4,
1500fps
Trophy Copper tipped sabot slugs 300 grain, 23/4 1900fps ( own these)
Edit to add they mostly all are 1oz slugs but the brenneke is 1 3/8oz and the Federal PowerShok Rifled Slug 3in is 1 1/4 oz.
Does anyone have any experience with SGL 307 off route 6 in Lackawanna County?
Hello, going on a visit to Pennsylvania to visit some friends and have a chance to hit sgl 270 for a potential turkey hunt. Is this area pretty heavily pressured? I have no clue how much traffic turkey hunting western PA gets
