NPD: midi controller on my minimalist board.

The midi controller replaces two pedals: a dedicated tuner and a separate switch presets on the stomp. I’m still playing around and figuring out all the features of the controller and how I want to use them. It’s a bit more setup in advance, but once it’s set up everything’s easier.

Beginner problem: Low output

Hello fellow stompers,

I'm quite new with the pedal (any pedals for that matter) and need some assistance / tipps concerning the HX Stomps output.

----

Story: I was playing around with the stomp, testing various settings but noticed: I could barely hear anything over my headphones. Volume knob to max. Ok, Superlux with 150Ω, fair, I was due for good headphones anyway, got the Beyerdynamics DT770 Pro with 80Ω. Same result: everything is kinda quiet.

So I tried some clean recordings in audacity to see, where the level's at without the human ear in between. My "standard" preset has peaks of around -16db, my "worst" preset of around -30db. Now I'm no expert in recording but ChatGPT told me, a peak of around -12 to -8db would be 'normal'/desirable.

In order to hear anything while playing at home I put a cheap headphone amp (behringer HA400 in between but for some presets I still need to amp this one up to around 8/10 (I could even go to 10/10 without considering it too loud - and no, I'm not hearing impaired (yet).

Setup: Fender Jazz Bass (passive, all knobs full) to HX Stomp mono in - from headphone out to headphone amp (stereo cable) - to Beyerdynamics DT770 Pro.

Pictures: My setup, my "-16db standard preset", my "-30db problem preset".

----

Thanks for bearing with me and helping a stomp beginner-yet-already-enthusiast!

I can't get rid of "mud" on my "clean-ish" HXStomp presets when i try to driven my tone

Hi!

Anyone knows how to make external gain pedals sound right in front of clean amps on the HXstomp?

I use a hybrid board, i run a Chase bliss preamp mkII and a Chase bliss Brothers in front of my hx stomp as an amp/cab sim.

I ussually have no problem with a hi gain preset (more headroom presets like the Line6 Litigator and an a Matchless 212 ESD IR).

But when i try to use a more "versatile" clean amp like GrammaticoGSG or US Double Vib, it tends to sound muddy, instead of like a tube screamer/driven clean or dumble amp.

I've seen already many videos trying to figure out if its a headroom problem, or an IR problem (i tend to use a York Audio princeton 110 IR, or a Matchless 212 ESD).

I tried different settings on the amps, tweaking specs, trying louder and lower settings.

Also tried different settings on my pedals. Or the global settings on the HXStomp.

My goal is to get like a JohnNathan Cordy "dumble" sound like in this video but using the gain from my external gain pedals.

Any help or suggestion is welcomed. Thank you so much for any response!

Do you think ghe HX One is a good addition to my ampless/recording mini board?

I was thinking of buying a delay to have more room for DSP. Something like the Flashback 2 but then I came across the HX One, which is obviously more expensive but it definitely offers a lot more as a single pedal. Just wondered if anyone here used it with the Stomp (or just alone) and if the effects are just the same as in the Stomp. Thanks!

Hxstomp for only effects?

Hey all! Quick question to all Hxstomp owners. I have a mini rig setup for ease of transportation that consists of a Laney Supergrace for my amp and a 1x12 speaker. Im trying to keep this as small as possible, so instead of getting like a tremelo, delay, and some sort of modulation effects to round everything out, im looking at an Hxstomp to cover the rest. Wondering what the thoughts are on it. Ive heard nothing but good things about them. Could I bypass amp and cab Sims to just run effects to my amp? Is there a better option for my needs? What are y'alls experience pros and cons? Thanks!

Hx stomp digital clipping

I feel like any preset I make has digital clipping…I try to copy other videos and make a simple preset and I feel like I’m clipping and get bad digital clipping…even presets I download clip…not sure what I’m doing wrong

Ive checked global setting and tried switching line level and instrument…hopefully anybody can shine some light on it

just finished tweaking a few presets on the HX Stomp for the upcoming gig (wish me good luck, it’s my first one after almost a year).

This is the signal chain:
guitar > tuner + wireless receiver (Xvive P58) > compressor (Wampler Ego Compressor) > HX Stomp mono input > 2 outputs (one to FOH, and one auxiliary in case I want to run an amp sound behind me through the return as an extra monitor for the other band members).

I use that dual switch to easily change between different presets depending on the song, without having to bend down lol.

Maybe it’s not the best setup, but I managed to get some great tones out of this simple rig.

I just received the hx stomp and opened it up and played with it a bit until I realized all of the presets it came with show up as “ new preset “, all of them have that as the name. Is there any way I can get the names of it back somehow? Also when I slightly touch the tuner pedal the tuner option screen pops up and it’s really annoying
