HyperX Cloud II fragile build - Replacement?

Hi. I have been using my Cloud IIs for the past few years and I have been using them rather normally, and over these years, I have had to replace the headset bracket twice, once for the left and once for the right. And I have also noticed the rubber on the top become sticky and brittle and it starting to rip even though I did not invoke any physical damage to it. Would HyperX be able to issue a replacement of my headset, as the build quality of this is way too annoying for it to be from my wear and tear, but instead perhaps a manufacturing issue.

Hp is a joke

This company and its parent company is ridiculous. You genuinely can spend 120€ on a headset and not be able to get a free replacement connection dongle without having a receipt. Sure it sounds stupid but I got my hyperx cloud 3 a year ago in Lithuania, paid with cash and didn’t keep my receipt. Now later on I moved to the us and hyperx can’t provide me a single dongle without my receipt. This is just stupid, I shared my serial code. They can look up when and where it was bought.

What happened to the quality?

I've been a huge fan of Hyperx since 2017. I started with the Hyper x cloud 2 and then upgraded to the cloud alpha in 2022. The mic died on my alpha recently and I decided to buy another of the same model this past week. Side by side it sounds significantly worse than my 4 year old pair, has the overall quality been downgraded in the last 4 years???

The best customer support i’ve ever experienced

I’ve owned a few HyperX products over the years, and one thing has consistently stood out: their customer support

A few days ago, I pulled my Cloud II out of storage after almost two years. I had left it in almost brand-new condition, but the rubber coating had completely broken down and turned sticky. I contacted HyperX, sent a few photos and documents, and they approved an RMA without any hassle

Since the Cloud II was out of stock, they upgraded me to a Cloud III for free. They even shipped it within one day after I mentioned I might be leaving the country in mid-July

This isn’t my first great experience with them either. Years ago, they replaced the microphone for my Cloud Revolver for free, and another time they replaced my Cloud II USB sound card for free as well.

I know some people prefer other brands or think HyperX products are overpriced, and that’s completely fair. But for me excellent customer support goes a long way, and HyperX has never let me down

Just got new Omen 16 laptop and fans sound loud/odd

I just bought a new HyperX Omen 16 laptop for my son. I'm fairly certain it's the top of the line version as it has the liquid cooled system. The fans are loud. This is the first gaming laptop I've ever owned and doing some research I have found that gaming laptop fans are typically loud. If that's the case then okay. It just sounds off to me and I'm more worried about something being wrong with the laptop then the noise. I've taken a short video of the noise and wondered if anyone can tell me if this noise is typical so I can stop worrying about it or if it's not typical, to get it addressed as quickly as possible. Thank you.

Which NGENUITY app should I use?

I recently downloaded the NGENUITY app directly from the HyperX website. This software is much better than the version downloaded from the Microsoft Store. However, while I was able to perform a firmware upgrade using the Microsoft Store app, I can't seem to do it with this newer version from the website; nothing happens when I click to check for updates.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to upgrade the firmware?

My current firmware version is v4.1.0.9, and I found that the latest version is v4.1.2.4. Can anyone help me? My headset is a Cloud 3 Wireless.

Cloud Alpha Wireless - EQ and DTS:X have absolutely no effect (Windows 11 24H2)

Hi everyone,

I bought a brand new HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless yesterday and I'm having a strange issue.

The headset itself works perfectly:

- Audio works

- Microphone works

- Battery reporting works

- NGENUITY detects the headset

However, neither the Equalizer nor DTS:X have any effect at all.

Turning EQ ON/OFF makes absolutely no audible difference.

Turning DTS:X ON/OFF also makes absolutely no audible difference.

There isn't even a brief audio restart when toggling them.

System:

• Windows 11 24H2 (Build 26100)

• HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless

• Firmware 4.1.0.8

• NGENUITY 5.38.0.0

• NGENUITY Legacy 2.38.0.0 (same issue)

Things I've already tried:

- Firmware update

- Latest NGENUITY

- Legacy NGENUITY

- Complete reinstall

- Different USB ports

- DTS APO service is running

- DTS components are installed

- Visual C++ Redistributables installed

- Multiple PC restarts

- Driver reinstall

- Windows audio enhancements / Exclusive Mode

Device Manager shows everything correctly.

Has anyone experienced this with Windows 11 24H2 or found a solution?

Any help would be appreciated.

HyperX software migth just be as bad as Razer's

I got my Cloud III headphones less than an hour ago, and I've already run into a major issue with the software. I can't install the drivers no matter what I do.

The software says it's installing the drivers, but when it's finished, it immediately asks me to install them again and restart my PC. After restarting, I'm right back where I started. It's an endless loop.

The only workaround I've found is to use a completely different device, install the drivers there, and then transfer them via USB. That's an absurd solution and something I shouldn't have to do for a brand-new product.

It's incredibly disappointing that a company this large can't provide software that installs its own drivers properly. I expected a much smoother out-of-the-box experience.

NGENUITY Default sound device

Ever since I installed this software I have to manually select my headphones as the default sound device on my PC (it defaults to my monitor speakers which is really annoying). I have NGENUITY set to startup app and yet I have to click "Switch to Cloud III" every time to get my equalizer set. How do I make it default? So annoying.

Gaming PC vs Gaming Laptop

Hey r/HyperX 😄

Choosing between a gaming laptop and a dedicated desktop PC is one of the biggest decisions you'll make when building your setup. Are you looking to build a permanent home base with maximum performance, or do you need something that can pack up into a backpack at a moment's notice?

Let’s break down the pros, cons, and actual daily reality of both options so you can figure out where to spend your money.

What is a Gaming PC?
A traditional desktop setup. It’s a stationary tower built from individual, standardized parts (like a discrete graphics card, high-performance processor, and multi-feature motherboard) that stays in one dedicated spot.

Pros
Best Performance per Dollar: Desktops don't have to compress parts to fit into a tiny space. They draw more power and run faster than their laptop equivalents, giving you more frames for your money.

Easy Swappable Upgrades: If your graphics card starts struggling with new games in a few years, you can just swap it out. You can upgrade a desktop piece by piece.

Great Cooling & Longevity: Large cases allow for big fans or liquid cooling as your options. Keeping temperatures low means, your hardware lasts a lot longer and your fps higher.

Simple Repairs: If a single component breaks, you only have to replace that one part, not the whole system.
Screen Flexibility: BYOM (Bring your own monitor) You have infinite options on screen size, multi monitor setups and better connectivity.

Cons:
Commitment: It's built to stay at your desk, so it's not an option if you like games on the go. You need a dedicated desk with enough room for the tower and all your peripherals. Moving a desktop is a hassle if you move around often.

Extra Gear Required: The price of the gaming PC doesn't include everything else. You’ll need to budget separately for a monitor, gaming mouse, gaming headset, mechanical keyboard, and a microphone if you plan on content creation.

No Easy Plan B for Desktops:  A power outage can instantly shut down a desktop PC. A laptop's built-in battery keeps you connected.

Best for: Anyone who plays mostly at home, wants the highest possible performance, and wants a system they can easily upgrade over the next 5 to 10 years.

What is a Gaming Laptop?
An all-in-one portable gaming machine. It squeezes a high-refresh-rate screen, a keyboard designed to be cool and snappy, , high performance cooling systems and specialized compact hardware into a single, battery-powered frame.

Pros:
Portability: You can play games on your couch, bring it to a friend's house, or take it with you on trips. Your entire setup fits right into a backpack. It’s great for multi-tasking where you’re a student or do work on the go.

Ready to Go Out of the Box: It comes with the display and keyboard built right in. You don't have to buy extra equipment just to start playing.

Space Saver: Ideal if you live in a dorm or a smaller apartment. When you're done playing, you can just close the lid and put it away. You can still BYOM! Gaming laptops can output their high performance to a monitor and turn it into a mini-Gaming Desktop.

Cons
Limited Upgrades: On almost all laptops, you can only upgrade the RAM and storage. The main engine (the CPU and GPU) is soldered down, so when it gets outdated, you have to buy a whole new laptop.

Heat and Fan Noise: Packing powerful hardware into a slim chassis means laptops run hot. To keep things safe, the built-in fans have to work extra in perfect sync with the heatpipes and vapor chambers and they can get pretty loud.

Best for: Students, frequent travelers, or anyone short on space who needs one reliable machine for work or school by day and gaming at night.

Commonly Asked Questions
1. Can I plug a laptop into a monitor and use it like a desktop?
Definitely. This is a very popular setup. You can plug a laptop into an external gaming monitor, a mouse, and a keyboard. It gives you the full desktop experience at home, and then you can just unplug a single cable when you need to travel and have an integrated UPS in case of a sudden power loss.

2. Why do laptop get so slow when it's unplugged vs a PC?
Some batteries physically cannot deliver the high wattage that a gaming graphics card needs to run at full speed. When you unplug, the laptop automatically limits its performance to save battery life and prevent overheating. For actual gaming, you'll always want to be plugged into a wall outlet.

3. Do gaming laptops wear faster than desktops?
Generally, yes. Consistent heat is tough on PC components, and laptops naturally run hotter than desktops. But with good maintenance, your laptop can last pretty long.

Love to hear your thoughts and would like to know what we should cover next! ❤️

Dongle dead - Hyperx cloud 2 wireless.

In 2022 I bought a Cloud 2 wireless to enjoy gaming without cables. Unfortunately life dictated its rules and I couldn't enjoy some gaming time for like 2 years. After sorting a lot of stuff, I could finally resume my hobby. Unfortunately everything seems fine with the headset but the dongle has a lot of rust around the connector. I already saw that there are no dongles available on the shop of hyperx.

What should I do?

Cloud III S Wireless DTS Sound Unbound License Issue on NGENUITY Beta - Need Help

Hey everyone, I just bought a new HyperX Cloud III S Wireless. I noticed that the headset is only detected by the Beta version of the NGENUITY software; the Legacy version doesn't recognize it at all.

My main issue is that I can't find any way to get DTS working on this Beta version. I downloaded and installed the DTS Sound Unbound app from the Microsoft Store, but it says it's unlicensed and won't activate.

Has anyone figured out a workaround for this? Any help would be highly appreciated!

Replacement for the Cloud flight Headset?

My cloud flight wireless has been good to me for the past 6 years and has decided that it's had enough. I wanted to keep within the HyperX line and tried the cloud 3S but it sounds very distance. I also tried the cloud alpha but it sounds super muffled. Is there any headset that sounds as close to the original kingston cloud flight? Apparently the closest options are the Cloud flight 2 or the Logitech G pro X2 lightspeed. Anyone have any experience with the flight 2?

I've tried tweaking both headsets EQ with ngenuity and updated the firmware,

Alloy Origins keyboard not showing up in NGENUITY

Brand new keyboard not showing up in NGENUITY. The app is June 2026 version, it's detecting my Quadcast 2 S. I've tried every USB port on my PC and the keyboard works fine in all of them but I can't customize it. I've tried restarting PC and running in admin to no avail. Plenty of threads from 6+ years ago with similar issues with no answers.

Edit: Fixed by uninstalling NGENUITY and installing the legacy version
