Thinking of quitting IBKR

So after the PDT rule was scrapped, I expected IBKR to migrate to the new system on June 4th. But to my surprise they still haven’t done it (my account is nearly 7 years old)

Given the recent market fluctuations, it would have been nice to have some margin to cover or atleast reduce my losses. One thing I strongly suspect with these guys is that they thrive on blowing up small accounts.

To be fair, I did contact the support and ask them to expedite my request for migration to the new margin system a couple of times. But the last message did not even get a response from them.

So this might seem like a rant, but anyone have any suggestions for a better Broker? I’m not in the US so I would be looking at a broker that accepts international customers

Funding via Wise is toooooo slow

Looks like, manual approvals are done on both Wise and IBKR side. Why the hell it's not instant? How to fund instantly? I wanted to buy the dippppppppp and the funds are not credited yet and missed todays dip.

Can I use ACH via Wise to transfer instantly?

questions about margin account

i've been trading stocks for 2 years successfully on another broker who didn't offer margin. now opened an account with IBKR and just funded it and didn't trade yet but very happy with the platform. i have some questions though:

i only trade USD stocks and I chose USD as my base currencty but i deposited chf 6000 chf (im in switzerland). now my account automatically shows that money in USD but it keeps fluctuating. right now shows $7,534.69 but every min it can go a bit lower and higher which i assume is the chf-usd exchange rate fluctuations in real time. my question is, should i exchange chf to usd inside the app before placing my first trade or not? im also surprised that the transfer from my swiss bank to my ibkr account was so fast and there was no fee deducted even though IBKR is a US broker.

cash 7,535.52. Buying Power 30,138.75. i don't mean this negatively but i dont understand why my buying power is 4x my cash. i thought ibkr offers 2:1 marging which is basically 50%. based on that, i would assume that my buying power should be double my deposited cash, so it should be roughly $15,000. isn't it? but it's 4x instead. so, does this mean i could right now buy a stock with $30.138 ? could someone explain why my buying power is 4x my deposit instead of 2x.

i see that IBKR offers paid data subcription packages for USA stocks but i already use a separate paid tool for technical analysis i use stockcharts.com so i shouldn't pay for anything separately on IBKR, correct? basically i don't even need to do any analysis inside the IBKR interface since Im already used to using stockcharts and is good enough for me. so i just have to place trades directly on IBKR without worrying about their charts or trading platforms, correct?

Why is IBKR STILL applying PDT rules to INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTS⁉️ These guys are so asleep at the wheel😴 📉

Non US resident and non US citizen with an IBKR UK account.

As per my understanding they shouldn't have been applying PDT rules to my account to BEGIN with. Pdt rules were not supposed to apply to international accounts.

Here we are with the PDT rule struck down and these fellas still applying PDT rules to my account.

Robinhood, Webull, Fidelity, Schwabb, ETrade, Tasty Trade, Cobra, Tradezero, Tradier have all switched over and these guys are snoozing.

Add to that the buggy platform and restricted ticker nonsense... Remind me why am I still with this broker??? 🤔

Will SPCX be available for purchase on 12th of June?

I know they offer it right now in the UK market if you're a tax resident, but what about for everybody on the opening day (12.06.26)?

Can one park money in different currencies to hedge against currency depreciation ?

rathercthan buying stocks and incur tax component of latch or stcg, can one just park currency like in euro or Swiss francs and leave it for years ? any issues ?

Interactive Brokers support decline (no phone or chat with humans available)

Has anyone else noticed that Interactive Brokers support became substantially worse recently with AI?

  1. The chat option on the website does not connect you to a human, you can chat only with AI. When you try to request a human operator it responds "Visit our website to get contact information for Customer Support"!
  2. When you call the support line 1-800..., they do not give you any options to speak to an operator and instead advise you to search for answers yourself ("three of five questions are answered there"), then ask for your account number, advise you to create a support ticket and then simply hang up! As I understand, they won't accept a call if you do not have an open support ticket now?
  3. To submit a support ticket, you need to go through a maze of AI interactions before you can even submit a ticket, pressuring you at every step to be happy with the canned AI answers.
  4. OK, if you finally submitted your ticket, at the end of the submission process there is a button "chat with us" which DOES NOT WORK. It opens a tab with an error. I tried to submit two tickets in two different browsers, and both times it did not work and the button disappears the moment you clicked on it so no second tries!
  5. Finally, after an hour or so I received a response, and GUESS WHAT - it was from a damn AI instead of a human agent!

And if you wonder if the response was helpful - it was obviously NOT.

Now the put a message in the email that if I want to get a human to answer, I should reply to this AI slop email; I did exactly that and still waiting for a response from a human agent.

So bottom line is, no more interactive ways for support, neither chat nor phone is available, and only messages are available.

I am shocked at how much the IBKR support tanked just in a matter of months. Even in January I spoke to multiple humans and solved all issues both via the chat and over the phone, and now I cannot connect to a human on neither of those channels.

UPDATE: I am talking specifically about the Canadian support

IBKR app and desktop crashing when attempting to open transfer funds page.

As soon as I click deposit or withdraw funds, I get a loading symbol for about 30 seconds and then the app, and the desktop and web version all crash and kick me back to login. Any information?

Additional information: I also tried last night, this isn't a one time issue. Have restarted both app and PC and phone since.

IBKR Restricting buys and capping bids

Why has IBKR turned off the buy button on this $STI today?

Seeing this more and more from IBKR these days. Yes it's wild buying stocks up 1000% but that risk should be the buyers to take or not take.

Also seeing a lot of orders on low liquidity stocks being capped significantly below the bid price.

Couldn't get an order in on $ABTS yesterday. Bid price was at 2.40 for over 10 minutes while they were capping my buy order at 2.14, effectively precluding me from buying in. Which is absolutely unacceptable. Faced similar issues on another ticker last week.

Not a fan of this sort of broker interference at all.

IBKR used to be extremely reliable in sending your orders straight to market at the entered price. That was the one thing they had going for them despite the clunky TWS platform.

Something seems to have clearly shifted for the worse with this broker.

PDT restriction removal

The PDT rule was removed by the authorities on 4th June 2026 but IBKR has still not removed the PDT restriction from my account. I would like to know when this PDT restriction will be removed from my account? Thanks

TWS so slow on M4 Mac. Running Apple silicon version of TWS.

Have issues with TWS being ultra slow and laggy on their M4 Mac? I am using the Apple Silicon version of TWS and it just drags. I have 24GB of RAM on my MacBook, and I've adjusted TWS to use 8GB of memory instead of the default 2GB. That did not help. Any suggestions on getting this moving faster?
