We reimagined Jan Hammer’s classic "Crockett's Theme" from the Miami Vice Tv show with a synthwave feel, what do you think?

Recreating the "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" production style using home-studio gear

Hi everyone, I’m an audio engineer/musician and I’ve been working on a project where I try to replicate professional-level production using my own setup and REAPER workflows. I just finished this cover of "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".

My goal was to deconstruct the original arrangement and replicate that punchy, wide mix using standard gear, without relying on high-end studio hardware. I focused heavily on gain staging and custom signal chains to get that "polished" sound.

I’m looking for honest feedback on:

  1. The mix balance: Does the vocal clarity compete too much with the guitars?
  2. Dynamic impact: Does the chorus feel "explosive" enough compared to the verse?
  3. Overall "pro" vibe: Does it sound like a home production to you, or does it hold up?

Link: Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day (Cover by Matchiaa)

Reference track: Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Official Audio)

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how to improve the mix further!

MK Ultra Bass Cover

I've always struggled to find a tab for MK Ultra that matches what I hear on the record. Most versions are close, but there are a few small details that seem to get missed. So I decided to work it out myself and put together my own tab while recording this cover.

Really fun bassline to play, and one of my favourite riffs from The Resistance era.

Bass: Status Graphite CW-2
Effects: Line 6 Helix LT, and ToneX

Let me know what you think!
