ISI MMath at Kolkata vs ISI MMath at Bangalore
I am asking this for the next year. What are the differences between those two centers in terms of:
i. Professors in Algebra, Geometry and Analysis
ii. What are the abroad opportunities?
iii. What is the difference between coursework and grading, like is there any trend of one center being easier than the other for getting grades?
iv. Better alumni placements for PhD math?
Other difference you might think. I totally want to go into math academia and hence I'd like to know more about the Profs in the centers. I know that Neena Gupta is there at ISI Kol but I'd like to know more.
Please answer. Thanks.
Are any BMath folks joining ISID MMath?
I am thinking of joining ISID MMath (through the entrance, non-BMath) and trying to figure out more about the programme. As far as I understand most people joining Delhi have an interest in probability and stats and perhaps number theory because of Laishram.
I have a worry that the Delhi SMU is too small but I've been told this is true for Bangalore as well.
Anyhow, trying to find out if any BMath folks are joining ISID and what their reasons might be.
Any comment will help, thanks!
Any bstat/mstat students preparing for quant finance?
Are there any bstat mstat students preparing to go into quant finance or risk management? I heard quant fin companies don't really hire from ISI

ISI vs CMI
Hello seniors and others who'd like to contribute, I need some help deciding between ISI bmath and CMI bs math + CS.
My primary goal is to get into pure math research and land the job of a professor, while also looking for industry jobs on the side for safety.
My current interest lies somewhere in analysis. I started self studying higher mathematics about 2 years ago, I thoroughly enjoyed linear algebra (from LADR), single variable RA (from baby rudin) and am currently working through measure theory/func analysis from follands book (which has also been super fun). I tried getting into topology (munkres) and multivariable RA (spivaks calc on manifolds) but did not enjoy them as much. So though I am not to deep into functional analysis yet, I have a strong feeling that I'll enjoy working in some field that makes use of it.
Based on all that (and anything else you'd like to ask), what should I pick and why? I was also thinking of visiting the campuses physically once, is that a good idea? Thank you for your time
