Cybersecurity in TESDA instead of college

I'm considering to go for TESDA after SHS for cybersecurity instead of college given by our financial situation. I also needed an income para makapag-bayad ng certificates like Comptia+ security (note: I'm leaning specifically to cloud security). I know I still have a lot time to reconcider but I need advance advice, thank you po!

BPO as last resort

Hello, BSIT graduate here 2025. Im trying to find a helpdesk/IT Support job for a year na and wala pa rin. some job postings nagrereply naman and also nakakaabot din naman sa final/tech interview. now, im having a difficult time trying to find job now. should i consider na to apply in BPO(csr role) ? is it still somehow related sa gusto kong role like helpdesk or IT support? and makakatulong din ba to to find the specific job that i want

edit: sorry for the confusion, what i meant is CSR, not BPO

Unemployed for so many years

I’ve graduated in 2021 and said to myself that ill take a break for a year. And that was my biggest mistake of my life. It took a year and here i am still unemployed in 2026. I am very lost in life di ko na alam kung pano makakaalis dto. I’m someone na ever since bata ako wala tlagang social skills.

Seeking for Capstone Ideas

Hi everyone! I’m looking for capstone project ideas, and I would love to hear your suggestions.

My groupmates and I are planning to create either a web-based game, mobile application, or IoT-based system. We’re hoping for something unique, innovative, and helpful in solving real-world problems.

We already proposed some ideas before, but unfortunately they got rejected, so we’re trying to brainstorm better and more creative concepts. If you have any suggestions, community problems that technology could help solve, or ideas that you think would make a great capstone project, feel free to share them below.

Thank you so much!

JPMC Entry Level Position

Hi! For context, JPMC just contacted me for an initial interview for a Fraud Specialist role. I’m a fresh graduate. However, I’m already in the process with another company and currently waiting for the final Job Offer. I’ve already completed the medical exam that they provided.

Is it still possible to back out from the first company and continue pursuing JPMC, considering I haven’t signed any contract yet? Will this affect my record professionally or create any negative impression?

I’m very new to this process, so I’d also appreciate advice on how to decide between the two opportunities.

Feeling trapped in IT Support, what career path did you take after?

I currently work in IT support and almost 8 years na akong mostly technical support/help desk work.

I’m working for a non-PH based company kaya okay yung pay, pero sunod-sunod din yung layoffs recently kaya gusto ko sana mag-secure and start looking for a new job habang maaga.

current salary: 94-98k

Gusto ko mag-upgrade ng career kasi nastuck na talaga ako in IT Support pero honestly hindi ko alam saan. May basic Azure and AWS exposure ako pero nalilito ako if AZ-104, AWS, DevOps, Linux, or ibang path ba.

Company equipment

Hi, I would like to have some insights about my current issue. I was given some company equipment before my onboarding sa company ko now. After 1 yr and 7 mos, I reported an issue sa IT na yung earpiece sa Jabra Headset ko is detached from the headband, and isang line na lang ang nag cconnect para hindi sya ma detach completely. I was advised by IT dept na this is outside warranty coverage since na deploy yung equipment na brand new and tagged sya as under my negligence/misuse and I have to pay for it. I already told them na this issue also happened sa dalawang ka work ko but they told me na hindi pwedeng icompare yung cases ko sa kanila kasi sa akin lang yung bago. I told them na walang misuse na nangyari but they are insisting na under negligence ko and I need to pay for it.

In my late 30s, but haven't made significant progress career-wise.

When I was younger around 15 yrs ago, I wanted to use my strength which is programming. I worked in IT industry for that long na. Fast forward, I realized I wasn't really able to build solid skills since paiba iba ako ng role. Nag back fire yung pagiging all around ko. I can't demand for higher salary since I'm all arounder. Do you have any advice? Alam ko namang magaling ako but yeah, the fate is kinda not in my favor.

Incoming IT Student Is It Okay to Start Internships Early + How to Maximize My 4 Years in College?

Hello everyone,

I’m new here and I just recently graduated from senior high school. I’m an incoming first-year college student taking up IT.

I wanted to ask for advice from current IT students and professionals here.

Since I’m still early in my journey, I want to make sure I maximize my 4 years in college instead of just focusing on academics.

My main questions are:

  • Is it okay or even recommended to start internships early (like during 1st–2nd year)?
  • At what year level do students usually start applying for internships in IT?
  • What skills should I prioritize early on (programming, networking, cybersecurity, cloud, etc.)?
  • How important are projects or portfolio-building compared to grades in IT?
  • What are the best ways to gain real-world experience while still studying?

My goal is to build strong technical skills and experience step-by-step throughout college so I can become more prepared for future job opportunities after graduation.

I would really appreciate any advice, experiences, or tips from those who are already in the IT field or currently studying IT.

Thank you in advance!
