Concept sketches created for my Kushiel Concepts illustration project, a personal project of mine exploring the world of fallen angels, mysticism, and masquerades of the Kushiel's Legacy novels by Jacqueline Carey.

As the land from the novel takes great inspiration from medieval France, I researched fencing jackets and other soldiery aspects of the era. These are all meant to inform a fan book cover for the novel "Cassiel's Servant".

One of my favorite animals is the cheetah, so since I don't usually draw anthropomorphic characters, I decided to vary things a bit and give it a penetrating gaze, jewelry, and an excess of melanism, without making it look like a panther haha. I loved the design, even though I made it several months ago

Here is a seasoned gladiatrix, fiercely devoted to the Sun faction, marked with solar tattoos and adorned with a helmet bearing the image of Ra, the solar god, a warrior whose determination is matched only by her mastery in battle.
