Psyker Grades (Imperial Assignment)

Hello, I'm currently about to start a new game as a player for Imperium Maledictum. I will be playing as a psyker and I realized something as I was developing their background. How are psykers classified in terms of their power level according to the Imperial Assignment in this system? Is it based on the amount of known powers, maximum warp charge threshold, or is there another metric I'm not aware of?

(Took inspiration from the Random Talents table)

-some don't clearly fit either way, but I wanted to evenly split the options on each side.

Divinations Innovations?

How can we make divinations more impactful for a current character? Other than as a hopeful boost to the next character, it seems that it isn't relevant for most play sessions. Not counting that to even benefit from the XP boost might require a caveat from the GM.

3e: If your Character’s death reflects their Divination, your next character begins play with bonus XP equal to half of the deceased character’s total XP.

2e & 1e: A mix of stat or skill tilts, table roll adjustments, & change yer Faaayyt.

Personally I like something that would affect a random roll table. Preferably with a +/- tit

What thoughts have ye?

Adjusting Stable Abhumans based on Home-world/Origin?

What changes would you make to the base abhuman strains stats to show influence from different home-worlds?

For example Only War, Shield of Humanity says "Adeptus Administratum classifies seven distinct types of Ogryn"

So maybe an Ogryn from a Highborn house has better Fellowship to reflect being the assigned companion/bodyguard of a noble scion?

In exchange for less Toughness from living as essentially a pampered pet.

(Now I'm imagining Ogryn being gene modified by nobles to fit social trends, like mini Ogryn breed that's about 7ft tall or 2-2.2m)

Question about warp charge

I'm playing a psyker and I'm wondering about warp charge and falling unconscious. Nowhere in the core rulebook can I find anything about that. What would happen if my character goes unconscious while maintaining a warp charge below threshold? I know sustained powers can no longer be sustained so their effects end immediately but what happens to the built up warp charge?

Critical hits and the head

Something I've just noticed.

Critical Hits come from rolling doubles on Melee and Ranged tests with positive SL. Since 96-00 is always a failure, there are eight ways to critically hit.

Because this is a "roll-under" system, the lower numbers are far more likely to be rolled. Even if your skill is low, a 11 is probably always a success, but unless you are superhuman, a 88 is probably always a failure.

Looking at the hit location table (p.211), the most likely location for a critical is therefore the head!

Don't forget your helmets, hive rats!

To Map a Hive City

Hello all o/

Being a huge fan of Hollow Knight and Silksong, I decided to start mapping out a hive city I'm tentatively titling Hive Noctis in a similar style to Team Cherry's. My goal is to make a new zone every week or two, and group some zones into regions, slowly building from the ground up outwards. The first proof of concept, "The Low Lanterns", is the first zone of the "Forgotten Crypts" region, belonging to the Noctis' underhive.

Conceptually this zone is a safe haven between the Cinder Steps leading up from an Auxiliary Mortuarium that receives excess overflow of corpses from the mid-hives' corpse starch factories that spill down a great length and the Sootways Hive Arteria. It is a foul zone that reeks of burnt corpse-wax from its multitudes of votive candles and low hanging lanterns. Occasionally, a prematurely condemned for death adventurer awakens in the great corpse piles of the Mortuarium and wanders into the relative safety offered by the scav encampment of lantern row. For Imperium Maledictum, I envisioned this zone would inflict Disadvantage to Awareness (Smell) Tests throughout each sub-area.

If you guys think this is a cool idea I'll continue to post updates here as I make adjoining zones and start making a pieced together version. I'll also enjoy any suggestions or feedback.

Gentle request from a new player

Probably you can remember me from such self help videos as “Smoke Yourself Thin and Get Confident, Stupid!” Or from my late post about me asking about demonhosts and pets rules!

No, sorry, but i had to do this stupid presentation… i’m here for asking if there is someone so kind to explain/show me the rules of creating a demonhost and for the familiars: i have the core rulebook but i haven’t the books for the other rules and…I cant buy the two new rulebooks right now only for this two rules 😅🥲

Hoping someone can help me 🙇🏻‍♀️😶‍🌫️

Hi from a new player

Hi 👋🏻
Old Dark Heresy player here ( i’m 40 lol) and looking for the first time at Imperium Maledictum.
I was curious if there are rules about creating a demonhost like in Dark Heresy and what are the rules about familiar/pet/creatures ( like the robot dogs of the arbites, but also servo skulls)

Corruption from emotions

I've quite recently started GMing IM starter set and really like the game. Planning on a larger campaign later this year with the start in Voll Adventures. I want to capture the darkness of the world and not make It seem like Cyberpunk or some generic scifi. Being a regular human should often be terrifying, with fear of the warp, xenos and just the brutal government of the empire. So I want to take every opportunity to remind the players 😀

When reading the rules I noticed that corruption can be triggered by giving in to strong emotions, which seems really interesting rule to spice things up. Do anyone have any good examples of how to use this? Anything in your games which made for an interesting scene?

Lackluster Bestiary

Hello! I am currently reading through IM core rulebook preparing to run a test game and I can't beat the feeling that potential combat enemies presented in bestiary are focused mostly on imperial citizens with barely any options for game focused on xeno threats.

This game would be perfect for campaign focused around genestealer intrigue but there is just one tyranid stat block. I presume I am supposed to treat cultists stats as if they could be genestealers and ignore chaos elements of them? It's kinda strange.

What about orks, necrons or even examples of planetary fauna? There is nothing in this book, despite lore stating that all are valid threats in the sector for players. It all feels like there should be a bonus book with more enemies but there is none.

Does anyone have any clues that could help me expand the options or maybe homebrew materials for more enemies that aren't just imperial citizens?

Edit: Thank you all for answers so far, I am checking mentioned options. Additonaly - Which of the published books you would say has most additional statblocks for enemies, so that I can expand my base for homebrewing?
