I'm new to the thrifting concept altogether, first order btw, and new to the motorcycling scene as well (the reason which led to the purchase).

The initial goal was not to buy a thrift item. I did not even know what that meant at that point.

I was looking for a good riding jacket with CE level 2 protection for a bs3 duke 390 that I picked up. I had a few good options around 8k-9k, but most of the jacket designs screamed. Look at me, I'm a "bike rider" with neon or crazy aggressive colours.

Nothing looked subtle and "blend-in" sort, the ones which looked like and those I liked costed 40-50k let's say.

I came across this ad of dripdropattire which showed a good riding jacket (not the Dianese which i purchased) of a reputed brand for peanuts of the pricey. It was too shady to be true. 😂

Without much thought, I paid up the 20% COD cost hoping if I get scammed it was worth a try at least. But if it turns out true it was gold mine.

Until this point I didn't know what the heck was thrifting or what even I was purchasing, I did what our parents would do on Facebook ads as boomers.

Then came the bomb, I went through the reddit rabbit hole and found out that most redditors named this brand as scam or never responds etc etc. I panicked but also accepted it's only 20% money that I lost.

Later when I went through the comments of such threads for justification or consoling myself, I found that the founder was present over there and defending the brand in comments by saying " we were shit back then I agree, but now we good mate". But I wasn't sure, why would I believe what a stranger had to say online compared to many redditors.

Yet I went ahead to his Instagram page and started spamming in the comments out of anxiety 😂 by mentioning my order number and asking for updates almost half of each day. He responded to my surprise within a day and said that he'll ship it first thing on Monday morning as Sunday ops were off.

He shipped it as well, but the drama started from my end once again afterwards. The product I purchased was of roughly 3k, then I saw them list another product which was around 8k and fell in love with that. Since the founder responded and product was in transit, i took the bet for 8k. :⁠^⁠)

And by this time I learnt what thrifting is and what should I expect practically. I was okay with it, fashion is fashion afterall. Art is art.

I read their return policy which said if they mess up they'll take return but if we do, they won't.

The order was bout to get delivered the next day, and i reached out to him by spamming again, mentioning it was a birthday purchase, I haven't received the 3k item which is on the way, and that I'm gonna deny it's delivery, and requested him, please as an exception for my birthday and first time entry into thrift community, give me a coupon worth of 20% I paid for the 3k one, which I'll use and place the 8k one. He initially resisted as rules as rules. But went ahead for a coupon due to my spamming birthday drama. Kudos to the founder if he is reading this here. If others come to you for coupon reading this, please it's not my fault, it was birthday afterall. 😂

So the order of the actual dianese jacket happened post that, I got it like 2 days ago, the measurements were perfect, it's quality is better than some of the new 4k-5k showroom jackets I've seen, not exaggerating.

Most padding was 95% Good, a dianese shoulder pad alone costs upwards of 8k to 10k sometimes.

But pads are replaceable always, the base, the jacket is freaking solid. One pad was little worn out as plastic became brittle through age, only it's replacement from non dianese manufacture cost about 800 for me which was totally fine after considering what I got overall here.

I hope this post reaches people who are new to thrifting or have doubts on this specific brand dripdropattire. It's a W for me, and a bit W for the founder Abhinandan behind it. Liked the fact that he at least showed accountability when he messed up and owned it up over reddit in nasty threads against the brand.

Maybe a bit pricey compared to others is what few comments said, but mate, what were they before I don't know, currently for a first timer like me, it was a 99% original fresh quality dianese padded jacket which I got in one of a kind design for 8k.

I hope these thrifting scenes grow big in our country as well soon. Gen-z's would do that for sure.
