Female betta attacked another female after pet shop at kolathur said they could live together. I'm scared the injured one won't survive.

Hi everyone,

I'm feeling really upset and could use some advice.

I have a small betta aquarium. I accidentally bought two female bettas because the shopkeeper at a fish store in Kolathur, Chennai told me that female bettas can stay together in the same tank.

The first day everything seemed completely fine. On the second day, the larger female started chasing the smaller one around the tank. I got worried and made a temporary divider using the lid from a plastic sweets box.

The next day, somehow the larger betta managed to get over the divider and attacked the smaller one very badly.

I immediately separated them. The larger betta is now in the plastic bag/container that I brought her home in, and the injured smaller betta is alone in the aquarium.

The injured betta is hiding behind a plastic plant. She barely moves, her fins are clamped and won't spread out, and she's breathing slowly and deeply. She just stays in one place. I'm really worried she might die, and I honestly feel terrible because I trusted the advice from the shop.

Unfortunately, I only have one aquarium. I can't afford another tank right now, so the other betta has to stay in a temporary plastic container until I can figure something out.

Does the injured betta have a chance of recovering? Is this behavior normal after a severe attack? Is there anything I can do immediately to help her heal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I feel really guilty and just want to give her the best chance to survive.

Thank you.

Channa Andrao Tank

I have this Channa Andrao from the last 3 years. Did many changes in the tank throughout that time period. But this is the look I have settled for. Been 8 months since I put a few stems of melted vallisneria spiralis in it. Now it looks really lush. His name is Snaku!

Close up of shrimp

This is a berried Caridina gracilipes, similar to red nose shrimps but different species, they have a shorter rostrum or red nose. Also have been documented to breed in freshwater but I’ve had no time for them.

Why no babies after a month

It has been more than a month since I saw white eggs in her abdomen. It still looks full. Is it normal to take so long to hatch?

Looking for Kuhli loaches and least Rasbora in Indore

Hey guys I'm looking for a Dozen Rasboras and around 6kuhli loaches for my planted tank that's completed cycling and stabilized recently, I have tried online stores and none of them would guarantee live arrival for Rasboras additionally some Instagram stores are charging obnoxious packaging with sketchy shipping options so I'm more interested in sourcing locally, any leads would be very appreciated

The tank is 65L walstad tank with 10 variety of plants, cycled for 6weeks and pH 7.3, ammonia 0 nitrate 0

New to the hobby...

Hello guys as said I am new to the hobby I am a student (might have less budget but will save up rather than having dead fishes) and want a minimal setup for having like a betta fish or a few other fishes I don't want the fishes to die plus I don't want the aquarium to look boring either.

So open to any suggestions and please enlighten me on the basics of fishkeeping.

The downfall of my 3ft tank

Had to sell all the plants/ soil and made it only hardscape type as i left for job and made it low maintainance.

The tank looks very dull now, recommend me some changes in hardscape and what more fish i can add?

Currently i have: 1 large male angel (aggressive), 3 hockystick tetra, 2 featherfin catfish.

Rainbow Shark menace

Setup: 4 feet (4x1.5x1.5ft, 65gallon) low-tech Planted Tank, Stocking: 15 Glofish Danios, 6 denisoni barbs + Trio of white mollies. (double top filters, no heater, lights on 8hr timer)

Problem: My Rainbow shark (2 years old) has become a terror in the tank and has killed off many platies and Glo widow tetras in the past 2 months. He has chased the denisons so much that now they only stay in the left corner.

Efforts: I tried to give him hiding spaces to reduce aggression but to no avail. I have decided to rehome him if nothing works.

Query: Suggest other centrepiece and schooling fish to add. I'm based in Goa. I'm considering fish like corydoras/loaches, cardinal tetra and black/ green neon tetra.

What should i do with this pond?

So 2 years ago, my mom got an idea to put our old syntax tank into our garden creatong a mini pond.

Now i thought to add some garden soil and make it as a guppy/molly pond. But my mom wanted to it koi carp pond.

So i added few baby carps along with a sump filter. Now after 2 years they have grown massive (except the one i added recently). They look pretty healthy and active.

The pond isnt much natural looking, so i want to give it a diff look. What do guys recommend?

Also, I dont live with my mom i work in a diff city, only visit home like 2 times a year. So any huge upgrade is kinda impossible rn.
